- This is a storytelling version of the Croglin Vampire such as I will be delivering before live audiences. If you'd prefer the read version you can find it here: • The Croglin Vampire by...
I hope the sound on this is tolerable. I know it's not perfect and there is a low background noise. I will work to fix that on these storytelling videos in future.

This is better than the narrated version. You tell it so naturally!
This more intimate style really reminds me of listening to my dad telling me about family history when I was young.
I find it very relaxing and comforting.
I also really enjoy these.
Thank you for doing them
I more than once happily fell asleep when you read the classic ghost stories with your calm soothing voice. This time I nearly screamed as well with the terrified sister - you are the born story teller. These told tales are way more vivid than the read versions ... or should I say more undead ... Creepy-crawly.
Tony, we really enjoy your 'Storytelling' versions. You are really good at it so keep 'em coming.
Here I am again listening to the lovely dulcet tones of Mr Walker...... 😊🌹🇬🇧
This is by far the best vampire story I’ve ever heard, it could have happened, I’m certain it did!✊♥️
I like that you pointed out that the local Taverns used to brew their own Beer/Mead. Tony, you are a gifted Story Teller. Thank you for sharing ❤
It’s going back to that now with craft beer
A great chiller, full of atmosphere.Love the background to the stories.
A grand tale! Many thanks.
A rare and invaluable skill, is storytelling and few there be that have it. You do. I close my eyes, riding your voice. I’m taken to a meadow, sweet with heather on sinewy fingers of cool breezes, winnowing beneath the weight of warm air. As cool tides in clear, sun warmed springs fed from deep, dark caverns. You sit, and tell us unpredictable stories. Smoky sweet, in the leaping of shadows of firelight. You bring me back, back to the time when the storyteller was the keeper of history of a people’s story. In the beginning, as the end, our imagination buoyant, as creation springs from us, and the single constancy is each other. Lighting little fires in each other’s minds. A good storyteller is unpredictable; you never know what they might create, for themselves or, in another.
Very poetic! I am aiming for what you describe. Thanks for helping me along my way
I have been absolutely adoring your experimentation/practice storytelling pieces lately.
You always show your face so that partly inspired me to try and do this. Thank you Anna
Brilliant upload and just great to "see" you again ❤
Good tale with good creep factor.
Love this, Tony. Please tell us more stories, just like this. Perhaps a whole, new channel with your storytelling? Masterful, as I have said many, many times before. Thank you.
I believe the events you describe are the inspiration for the story "Varney the Vampire".
Or the other way round mayhap...the vampire picking out the lead paning to open the window is straight out of 'Varney'...but these may be literary embellishments of an authentic vampire incident. I remember Montague Summers examines the facts behind the Croglin vampire case.
I really enjoyed this Storytelling version. I like the little bits of "commentary" added in. It gives the story a more natural, believable sound.
Thanks again, Tony.
Brilliant - Thank you Tony.
Without my glasses I thought it was the goblin vampire, which sounds real creepy, but I will enjoy your fantastic narrative, and think about the tale not told😄
+Jeff Bell the goblin vampire is a splendid idea for a story
Before I put my glasses on I thought it was the Gorgon vampire. We can be thankful for our specs.
@@martywood8543 yes and no the mirror is kinder without them 😄
@@jeffbell5125 lol I hear ya.
I listened to this story last year and I was intrigued so this is a great addendum.
That was wonderful! It’s broad daylight in my house but I keep hearing little noises. I can’t imagine how terrified I would be if it was nighttime. You are truly gifted.
Thanks Angela. Of course I can’t really believe it
You are a natural born story teller, just like M R James. I loved this, thank you x
Great story and narration!
I listened to your other version a few weeks ago. I started this and thought you were giving a historical background and then was like, "Wow, this is the story with history weaved into it!". Splendid! Great job! I would love to hear this as a member of a live audience!
Another great job, Tony! Keep them coming!
Yes, this is the 'fireside' version with tea and gingerbread
Oooh, I got the chills watching this. Your style is perfection! Eek, I have leaded lights on my front windows….
Just wait til you hear that pick, pick, pick
Hello Mr Walker, I have heard The Croglin Vampire previous to your Wonderful Narration. However your telling of this spooky Tale, had me literally transfixed and on the edge of my Seat.
Thank YOU so, for the very personal narration, I Enjoyed it VERY much.
I Love Vampire Scaries, especially the Gothic ones, the Ghost ones as well. And there is nothing that can beat out a rich, beautiful, well spoken English Gentleman such as yourself to share it with us.
But I really appreciated the feeling of being at home, back in my childhood telling Scaries to siblings and friends on a chilly dark rainy night long ago.
Thank You for the memories, Friend.
Great video Mr Walker, thank you for another superb narration 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Excellently done! Like a dried up spider… 😬
I remember reading this as a kid, and being terrified! Looking forward to listening to this.
What a wonderful talent you have... And you're sharing it
Very nice of you to say this
Thanks so much for this brilliant and eerie tale. I enjoyed the format of the narration especially, and hope there are more to come. As I'm pasting images onto the pages of my Mum's scrapbook that show the symbolic landing site of the pilgrims in Plymouth, Massachusetts, let me just say, "You rock." : )
We drove past Plymouth on the the i93 but didn’t stop . Pity
Masterful, Tony! Tell us another please! Thank you!
Hey Marti how are you?
Recovering. Thank you! @@ClassicGhost
Very enjoyable even though the story is scary. Thanks Tony.
I hope you continue with your work for many years as I believe there is an enormous audience out there yet to be reached. Merry Christmas
I hope you are right!
The story telling is wonderful.
I really enjoy the "storytelling version" thank you dear
Beautiful rendition! Was immersed in this engrossing retelling of a great tale. Keep raising the bar, friend!
Ooh this is one of my favorites!
Absolutely loved this story and the style of narration. Brilliant CZcams channel 👍♥️
Thank you :)
Well done!! The description of his thin skin!!! Superb!!!
Brilliant! Thank you.🙏
Thank you. Very well told.
Thank you J
This was so good! Wonderful description of the vampire.
Glad you enjoyed it!
How fun!
Really enjoyed today's story, so well told.
Even I was…gripped…like a child…when the Old Count was telling a ghost story! 😲💀😲🧛🏻😲 Masterfully done! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 You’ll give us vampires…a bad name 😉🧛🏻
Thoroughly frightening! A proper vampire story. Not to much gore, no teenage charming glittery boy-vampires. Just horrible creature, rumors and understated goings on. That's what a real scare story should be... gets under the skin and your own imagination does the rest.😱
Thanks Tony! That was a wonderful storytelling experience. You have a wonderful gift which you have deigned to share with us. Thank you so much.
I really like this way of telling the story. It's kind of conversational like your telling something that really happened. I hope you will do a christmas carol this way😁
Well done Tony!
I love this new story telling format
+andrea c I’ll
Keep doing it then !
There may have been more than one of *them*, but therre's only one of you!. Loved being told a tale face to face (virtually)!
Beautifully performed,so natural.Thankyou,really liked the flowers,seasonal detail.
Ha ha. Yes. I am very interested in the cycle of the year and it’s signs as well as places
Great story Tony 🤗
Loved this. You really brought the story alive.
Ye Gods, you do tell a good story. You had me spellbound with it and I know that story well. Absolutely fabulous and you just got another subscriber.
Well told!
Thank you Andrew
Hi Tony, I always love your original stories but sometimes I enjoy the talks you give more. I have learned SO much from you. This is fascinating- initially I paid no attention to the title, obviously there are no such things as vampires...Fascinating. Thank you. Namaste ( if I ever get over to England, I know the areas to watch out for! And I'll wear my school scarf to protect my jugular vein!) ((I love your paintings, prints and collected objects of artistic and religious significance. ))
You are a great storyteller!!! Scary!!!
Brilliant!!!
American viewers may recognise the plot as the inspiration for "The Window" in the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark trilogy. I don't have a copy with me so I don't know if Alvin Schwartz said as much, but as I recall he listed most of his sources in the end notes.
+Andrew Beale interesting. I didn’t know that
Looking forward to this, saved it x
Very recently came across your channel! Loving everything. Subscribed.
I prefer this version, your talking style is a bit more natural. And I only noticed the background hum after reading the description.
That word you taught me, I cannot remember it! Something rhythm, when you press like on the videos then these videos are presented to you if you missed the notification (because of over subscribing) because of this I did not miss this is amazing story! Algorithms! When you surrender, then it comes to you! This is true of so many things in life! It’s funny, when people stop trying to get pregnant and they adopt, they often they end up getting pregnant even though they were told it was impossible! The laws of the universe! Also what you appreciate you get more of and what are you complain about you also get more of! Quantum mechanics/physics says that what you resist persists! I’m sorry for preaching! I think your partner is into this stuff…..you told me that a couple of years ago!🙏🎭👏
💛🌟✨👑✨🌟💛
My partner is into this stuff for sure. The algorithm rules
You have a lovely voice
Exciting!
Ooh, what if they traveled in packs? Scary.
But wait...Doesn't a bite turn the victim into a vampire also?
Excellent!
+Cactus Flower 🌵🌸 thank you :)
Look up the Cheverton Road Vampire 👍
Already done 🙂
Perfection
You are always so kind

*** GOIN TO THE CHAP-EL...OF BLOOOOOD!***
I d like to hear you sing this
I’ve been to Croglin many times to look around. It may be because of watching An American Werewolf in London but there is a vibe in the village. Like they don’t want you there. (To be fair they may just be sick of visitors for the vampire legend) I never went in the Robin Hood Inn (that’s what it is called now I don’t know if that’s what it was called back in the times of the story) i could imagine if you did walk in to the pub it would be like the Slaughtered Lamb and everyone would shut up and look at you. Once i drove into the village and there were crows hanging dead upside down on the fence wings out stretched. Also in a garden opposite the church there was a trellis in the shape of a cross with ivy or something growing up on it. Now this is obviously a stretch but IF this was true and lets say there is some truth in vampirism being a disease that can be transmitted via a bite. Would Dorrothy not have become a vampire. That would have made a good sequel haha.
I drove through it a couple of months ago. We didn't stop... I have half a memory the pub was closed?
@@ClassicGhost I’ve never seen the pub open or did you mean properly closed. That would be a shame if it’s been open several hundred years. I think i might drive back over and have a look for lower hall as i have not seen it. I always thought the attack was supposed to have taken place in Croglin Grange and no one knows where that is. Lower hall does sound like the place as back then it was single story and there is a window bricked up that is covered in horse shoes to ward off evil etc.
Yes
It has to be the same vampire, only a stake through the heart works.......???
Tony, more please & thank you!

I hope you told your children stories when they were small - you’re very good at it.
One of Henry the 8th wives was a Howard I think. Catherine Howard. Number five.
Yes she was one of them
Tony, did you say the Keighley Vampire? I live in Keighley, is there something that I should know?
+S C well that’s another story!
Ha where's Buffy the vampire slayer when you need her ha
Yikes 🤯
This tale is suspiciously similar to Varney 🤔
+@graelent9 I wrote it from Eliot O’Donnell ‘s version. i hadn’t read Varney at that time but he might have
The king wasn't Catholic.
But The Stuarts had catholic sympathies and were supported by the nobility who were catholic or leaned that way??? That was my understanding
@@ClassicGhost his sons and wife maybe. Not him.
@@jez6208 thank youb
I love the personal embellishments you have brought in. You add historic information & local understandings which really adds to the performance!
