    Magnificent Allison was one of the reason Liverpool won the game today, countless important save and difficult to imagine a keeper 100 yards out was part of the reason of another keeper sent off, well deserved MOTM. And it is a joy to see Liverpool attack is starting to gel well. The weakness I see was still in Gomez, his judgement as a CB still has a lot of room for improvement, CB simply doesn't choose to guard the near post leaving the 12 yard unmark.. but all effort played a part in the clean sheet.

    We seem to have a repeated issue when we are a man up. This was not the first time we play tighter and more timid in this situation. And, as they say, the team takes the personality of the Manager. Well, if you listen to Klopp's postmatch comments, he said he'd rather have drawn a penalty, and it stayed at 11 aside. Perhaps they should revisit this over the summer in training.

    The way Liverpool played this season so far, this victory against a team who've just lost one game this season is much better. Yes, Liverpool is still open in the defense & sometimes slow & lethargic in the middle but they are showing some improvement in the attack even if it was for 22 minutes. Now slowly but gradually liverpool have to increase that 22 minutes to more in attack to bring that INTENSITY which we've lost this season. One game at a time.

    Stevie, I understand it was 10 men and it wasn't scintillating play from start to finish. Yet, I struggle to understand the reason you overlook why they had 10 men. If Pope doesn't handball that one on one Salah is escorting that ball 1st class in to the net for 3-0. The play and execution was initally exceptional and as VVD said, them letting off the throttle and allowing the level to wain is something that can't happen. Acknowledging this is the first step to rectifying it from happening again. That said, my final point is Klopp along with the players seem to already have their eye on the Real Madrid match. I truly think that judging by the substitutes used, the abundance of players that are coming off injury and need match play to round in to form, players that are not likely to even see the pitch but are being used to perform field manager duties to see the game out, players that could use the rest with the quick turnover between these games, these were all factors in a game that was done and dusted once Newcastle was 2 goals down and forced to sub off a player to replace their red carded keeper. Having now performed a double on a currently sitting top 4 team who until our match was undefeated at home and extremely difficult to score on is an accomplishment that deserves merit and hopefully garners momentum for the clash with a team that has been a stone in our shoe many times over.

    The difference is simply the sharpness of the attack. As soon as Jota and Firminho returned it sent a note of warning to the attack, nobody wants to lose their starting slot. Lol... But the midfield is still a huge embarrassment to the team. One weakness of Klopp us his inability to improve the team by turning the one mad disadvantage of the opponents,into his advantage. Our intensity always decline when the opponents are reduced to ten men unlike City who would have turned the game to a goal galore. Disturbing because it has been happening like this one too many times. We're happy we're able to hold on the 3points that really matters though 😁

Liverpool lost badly against Brighton, Brentford and Wolves, but manage to end unbeaten runs of Man City and Napoli. Pope red is what happens when a goalkeeper doesn't train a bit of sweeper keeper basics, he goes out with the idea of clearing the ball with his head instead of blasting it somewhere with his feet, he did the same thing a few minutes earlier and it didn't end up bad but wasn't good either, but this time the ball was too low, he had to clear it with his feet not his head.

    • @ComradeOgilvy1984
      @ComradeOgilvy1984 Před rokem +1

      The pity is Pope did not even need to blast it. Almost any contact pushing it wide would have been okay.
      The weird irony is by not slipping when kicking, Allison put a little too much slice on the ball. Thus Salah missed bringing the ball under control with his chest by just a couple inches. And when the ball reached Pope is was both going wide and dropping quickly -- the combination flummoxed the keeper for the misplay.

Now Pope is going to miss the final and Lorius Karius probably will start as Newscastle backup cannot play in the final because he played for United in the competetion earlier, so basically United gurranteed win lol. I don't think they panicked, I think they let off and decided the game was over. There's all sorts of good reasons why they'd do that and I could list a bunch why it's a bad idea - but it is a thing Liverpool do: it's not so fun when the midfield isn't performing that well though, huge risk. They did keep going forward but the pressing just isn't there lately - one of the things that definitely has improved in the last couple of weeks is the quality of passing, a few weeks back they couldn't string two together but now they're passing like they're in some competition where you get points for trick pass completions. It does highlight something that's been true for years now, even since before Klopp and Klopp hasn't fixed: if you try and really play against Liverpool you're going to lose, if you don't try and win against Liverpool you might come away with something, and Newcastle tried to play against Liverpool and it cost them. The trick is to just sit and they don't know what to do with it because Liverpool need space - I'm convinced that's why over the last bunch of years they've punched above their weight in the UCL; because teams won't park up so much like they do in the EPL.

    • @tomatoisnotafruit5670
      @tomatoisnotafruit5670 Před rokem +1

      2-0 against 10 men is a bit early to go to game management mode especially with only 22 minutes played, they could have let off the gas a bit but they need to score at least 1 or 2 more and finish off the game for good, then you can sit back and pass around, plus Liverpool doesn't have a good midfield to manage a game comfortably so they of all teams should have been more careful, but still they got the job done, on to Real Madrid.

      He lost the confidence in Liverpool and yeah if you watched their games before these 2 wins, they were very very bad, points wise they can easily make to top 4 if they perform to their standards, but that the problem, the squad and midfield is very weak and that's why Stevie is not so confident, but with VVD back it's going to be more organized and Liverpool will be better, so it's not hopeless, but I can see his point, he is just tired of being let down by Liverpool so now he has no expectations for them, that way he won't be devastated if they fail.
