That stride section was some absolute SIZZLE
ikr!
It was indeed.
That was the highlight for me too. So good.
Truuuuuuuuuu
It reminded me a lot of Chopins Ballade No.1 Coda, also happens to be in the same key so that another reason why they sound very similar
I thought: How's she gonna find 10 different styles for Autumn Leaves? ... But you did it, and they sounded perfect!
Musical theory, bro.
😃 😀Hi! If you like musical arrangements, I think you could even appreciate some piano adaptations, executed by me, of some pieces, you can find them going into this channel, with which I’m just writing this comment. :)If you decide to click on it, I hope you will like the sound and the visual aesthetic!💚
@@essentialentity77 listening, practicing. vato. transcribing. or you could buy a transcription i guess and sight read it. but theory? not really. She has lots of technique. Technique is not theory, it's facility. a lot of playing, reading, practice. I have plenty of theory, but to play like this you have to practice, and listen to merengue, funk, swing ,bossa or individual pianists styles to get it. then you have to put your fingers on the keyboard in the right places over and over. and over. Practice is how. Chord voicing, scales etc. Theory only explains what you played, how to build up chords or pick notes, but it doesn't really show you how to play it, it doesn't guide you while you're actually playing and improvising. Theory tells you, accent the 4 and ,, play triplet feel for swing, use a flat 9 on the dominant chord , but the styles are defined by the rhythm mostly, not a whole lot of theory there, just time signatures and accents, clave, triplet feel whatever . Theory is not even the road or the car. Theory is just signposts along the way, and destinations and starting points, maybe the lines on the road. But the music is you, the driver, riding your car, the instrument, with the wind and the light and sound and the weather and other cars.
theory will help you build a car, or make a map, but it doesnt show you how to drive. it's not driving.
@@MarkTarmannPianoCheck_it_out Yeah, go make advanced jazz or bossa nova chords without musical theory then. It's not always about listening.
You have seen nothing yet, pal. Watch this czcams.com/video/LFQZGKHwb5I/video.html
Damn you should release a full version of each style
Agreed
yes U liked the jazz one most hbu guys?
@@naomigwolfe8112 neo soul sounded very interesting, kinda wanna learn to harmonize like that now
@@jonnebotten6606 ikr
@@naomigwolfe8112 I really liked the Lofi and New age tbh
Having an "Autumn Leaves in the styles of 10 composers" would be awesome too.
THAT IS SUCH A GREAT IDEA, OH MY GOD!
Oh my God
Yes please :O
It would fit the style of debussy or rachmaninoff perfectly
Funny you should say that, because that's exactly the video that brought me here: czcams.com/video/SAtZawkqBG8/video.html
Nahre Sol has actually just made a video like that a couple of days ago now
Everytime I watch a video of hers, I learn how much I need to learn
Edit: omg idek how this works but thanks for the top comment guys
i give up

I'm always stunned by the flexibility of music in the hands of those who know how to use it.
I love this.
LOFI ON POINT
That beat leans so much it’s horizontal. It’s sick.

So which style of piano are you best at?
Jimindorothy: Yes
i was feeling really unmotivated about piano since ive been waiting for 3 months now for my digital piano to arrive and have been losing confidence since i gotta keep playing on a smaller keyboard with no weighted keys but this motivated me again
Good luck!!!!😊😊
@@salamilid4125 I waited months for mine after I ordered it early January from sweetwater. Got it a while back from a different store. Stay strong!
I waited 2 years for my digital piano
Be patient...Stay strong!

I really like how she is like, you know, obnoxiously good at it
Aside from the sheer artistry of your video, this is an amazing education condensed into 4 minutes and I thank you for it. Absolute class!
I completely agree! She did such a great job of incorporating different styles and practices.
Einfach großartig!
I loved the reharmonization in the neo soul part. Of course every thing else is amazing as well. You are super talented
LOFI, JAZZ, Y NEO SOUL, LO MÁS HERMOSO Y FENOMENAL. 😍
Brilliant, and thanks so much for taking the time to write everything out
I have such a fun time listening to the different styles. Thanks a million.
The stride one is legit amazing. Lots of inspiration here
I love how you are able to blend multiple genres especially the transition between classic and jazz. Simply amazing.
This is easily one of the most impressive things I've seen in my life!
This deserves more views, the amount of effort is amazing.
how'd you know i recently became obsessed with autumn leaves
Your jumps are so unfathomably clean.
I love it every time you play stride piano.
There's a lifetime of knowledge in this video. Thank you as I try to learn these from you
Sounds amazing, thank you for sharing :)
Perfect! Great short tutorial for different styles
the ragtime version was especially captivating to listen to!!!🌸🌸
🌸
p.s. the bossanova provided the comic relief; got me smirking a bit right there
Can you explain how the bossa part was funny?
This video (and the whole channel) got into my recommended the first time and when I heard this, and all of this harmonisation that she was doing, I subscribed. Yes, I didn’t even take a second thought.
Just wanna tell her that she did a great job!
This lo fi hip hop end is such a mood for the coming summer... My soul was waving with it
I can play nowhere near you, but the latin version sounded a bit rushed.
I liked the jazz and neo soul versions, very delicate!
Yeah latin was off tempo
Yeah, I noticed that too. They lost time towards the end on that one. But this is a great video!
You are the best! ❤️ This is the best I've heard! Thank for your job !
This young lady just blows my mind with her knowledge of so many styles of interpretation. I am a new fan!!! 🙂
Wow. I've been playing for 16 years now since I was 5 and your always remind me of the love and passion and beauty of music I'm so impressed and grateful. You're an absolute legend and without a doubt one of my heroes :)
You are incredible! Thank you for sharing
You are absolutely fantastic, dear jimindorothy! With you on the piano one can easely fall in love with the music you play. And when you play "misty" with a smile on your lips, one can easely fall in love with the maestra on the piano-seat... I am full of admiration for what you do and for your fantastic talent. All the best from Switzerland.
I'm your fan, and you playing bossa nova is so amazing. Kisses from Brazil!
Wonderful as always.
Beautiful in every style, thank you

Wow. This is amazing. You turned a classic jazz piece into so many different styles.
The new age version resembles Yiruma's, Paul De Senneville's, or Richard Clayderman's music
Well he is New Age so...
Sounded like Raul DiBlasio too
Why did the new age one make me want to cry??? so beautiful
Your understanding of those styles is awesome ! 👌
Absolutely fantastic. Just wow!
The Neo Soul and Lo fi Hip Hop versions are awesome!
Ragtime, Jazz and Neo Soul are the best
Beautiful ...great playing !
*You are the best, beautiful playing*

Very impressed
Thank you, this is sooo satisfying
Spectacular skills both as a musician and a teacher. I rewound to Bossanova when I realised the different tap of my foot. There it was the Bass Rests. So much in 3 minutes. Thankyou.
Need a full version of the Lofi Hip Hop style! 😍
of course you do
The Latin Funk one was awesome! All of them were awesome, of course.
AAA i love this so much, thanks for putting the notes along
Pure talent. Loved them all.
Oh my hell this was so good.
That's soo dope! I wish I could play like that, you're so awesome! I especially love the jazz and the lofi hip hop version! I think I might trying to learn it, it's soo cool!
Thank you for making such a great video! ❤️

I LOVE AUTUMN LEAVES, BOTH PHYSICALLY AND MUSICALLY
Is that really you playing? I want lessons. Been playing for 25 years and am very accomplished but your ability to traverse different styles amazes me!
Fantástic video bravo!!!
Beautiful, wonderful 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Dislikes are from Rock..
haha yes
It comes from rap because they don’t have piano over there.

I LOVE IT....my favorite was Lo Fi Hip Hop.....Master Pianist Barry Harris always said "...you don't know a song until you can play it in all major and minor keys"......I am sure he would proud to see you do a standard in so many styles.....and to get to his level is a VERY HIGH BAR.....next up, AUTUMN LEAVES IN ALL 24 KEYS !!! ;)
why would someone learn a major song in a minor key, or vice versa? seems counterproductive lol
@@robinb3077 Not a musician, but I remember (and it still might be online here on CZcams) where pianist Cyrus Chestnut speaks of his audition to be a pianist for the late great singer Betty Carter.
Cyrus knew the song as in the Fake Book, but Betty was changing keys mid-measure and looking to see if he knew how to follow a vocal lead....even if it wasn't "by the book".....knowing a song in all keys does have some real-life uses.
Are you going to quit a gig because some instruments are in keys you have been taught are wrong for the standard ?
Absolutely stunning playing.
Superbly played, Bravo!!!!👏👏👏👏👏

Great vid as usual, I love it! Was there a bit of a rushed tempo on the 2nd phrase of the Latin version? i couldn't quite catch the beat.
I found the same thing, and it underlines to me how even though some people might describe Latin music as "simple" in some ways, locking into the beat *exactly* is so hard to do.
Wow, wow, wow!!! Great job!!! Thank you very much!!! It's so beautiful 😍!!!
Tema y variaciones! Excelente!!
the classical one made my wig fly
haha
Do you have any sheet music / book recommendation for learning latin funk music in general? Like the way you play it in 02:22? Sounds amazing! Can‘t stop listening to it and want to learn more of it too :)
Thanks for this video! Ur great!
Just wanna say this is amazing, thank you!
I recognized the lofi swung beat more clearly then autumn leaves it self
Not saying I didn’t like the piano but the beat is so recognizable
from where
@@bozzigmupp510 it’s just the lofi hip hop beats to study to groove there’s a specific feel to it
0:22 hoooly these jumps
ever played maple leaf rag.......
@@xavierhaynes9224 It can still be intimidating to some pianists who aren't used to the style. Especially that left hand. It took me 2 years to finally get comfortable with ragtime and stride.
Ever play nocturne op 9 no 2? Or gymnopedie no 1?
@@nerdypianist6277 i wanted to i really did but i didnt have the time.
@@nerdypianist6277 yes, in fact i can play nocturne op 9 no 2, too lol. It isn't that hard, the tempo is slow so the jumps aren't anything hard.
Fantastic performance!!👏👏👏👏 You're, really great!!
I really enjoy your different spins on a basic standard. Amazingly it's really helped me a lot with reading music because now I can relate a feel in style to what the notes should look like on a page.
Classical was my favorite
The classical one sounded like Debussy in the right hand and Liszt in the left hand
So true
I think the right hand sounds more like Chopin, i don't really hear any of debussy's usual chords/sounds.
Rather it was very Rachmaninov
Just to clarify, the chords just remind me of the second section of Clair De Lune
Kinda looks like chopin but a little spicier but i still think this is something that rachmaninoff would do
Just WOW!!! Love it!!!
That is so much fun and very educational. Thanks for sharing.
