In this version the Eleventh Doctor regenerates into a volcano to remind him that sometimes, just sometimes, everybody dies, baby!
From this, the Doctor sticks strongly to his moral code of not interfereing with fixed points more than you need to, and possibly stopping him from going down the Time Lord Victorious roots.
And Roman Peter Capaldi died... Thus the 12th Doctor never got inspired to save Ashildr, and the whole "Me" storyline was avoided. Cause and effect at its finest! 👌

This reminds me of a (sadly missing) scene in the Classic series where Steven gives the Doctor hell for leaving Anne Chaplet behind during the massacre. He stormed out of the TARDIS and we saw the Doctor alone for the first time, and he had a monologue:
"And now, they're all gone. All gone. None of them could understand. Not even my little Susan. Or Vicki. And as for Barbara and Chatterton - Chesterton - they were all too impatient to get back to their own time. And now, Steven. Perhaps I should go home. Back to my own planet. But I can't... I can't..."
Of course, Steven came back and we saw Dodo Chaplet, confirming Anne survived the massacre!
