‘Sick and tired of the political agendas’: Athletes ‘not happy’ with Olympic Village conditions

  • Nationals Senator Matt Canavan says athletes aren’t happy with the conditions of the Olympic Village in Paris amid controversy over the vegan-heavy menu.
    Paris Olympic officials have been forced to order huge supplies of eggs and red meat amid complaints about the vegan-heavy menu at the athletes’ village.
    They’re now facing a challenge to keep the competitors cool, with temperatures in the French capital set to soar in the coming days.
    “Well, I think the verdict’s in, verdicts from the athletes there, they’re not happy,” Mr Canavan told Sky News Australia.
    “I think we just need to make the Olympics about athletes again - I think everyone’s sick and tired of the political agendas that seem to get latched onto almost everything in life.”

      If they actually cared about the climate, they would make the sacrifices they force on others!
      It's BS to fly around in a private jet, and say it's ok, because they pay extra "climate tax credits" to do it. First, most use tax payer or Olympian's money for those climate tax credits, or are so wealthy it doesn't matter. Second, Their planes still pollute the climate they keep complaining about, but refuse to fly commercial or build smaller homes, and use less electricity. Gore, a big climate speaker, uses more electricity than 20 family homes, in his huge mansion he had built, by money he received by telling others they need to use less, and he loves to scare others into thinking the world will end because of climate change. It's a scam that politicians are getting rich from perpetuating!! The world will end when God decides it needs to end!

    The EcoGames .. where the athletes are treated like they want to treat the citizens of the future. Air Conditioning in the buildings? Forget that uses to much energy you just have to suffer. Too many resources used on humans? Simple, have shared bathrooms with 8 athletes to a bathroom, spares rooms, and what people are calling cardboard beds with almost no mattress as again that causes waste. Need to control methane output so we'll limit the food to vegan style menus as no gas producing animals shall pass your lips.
    The net result .. teams bringing in poratble AC's flying them in from overseas if needed. Teams flying in mattresses for their athletes. Teams flying in food for the teams (and two now have flown in their own chefs and staff).
    Basically what France has demonstrated is what they think is the future for all of us. The future they want for all of us. And it's rather draconian and controlling and lacks freedom and liberty.

      Trouble is too many are "married" to teammates especially common in female sports.

    No one i know is watching this year. We are all so sick of politics being forced into everything we enjoy, by people who have never known what it's like to live in our world.

    I think its absurdly ironic that they don't have air conditioners to reduce the carbon footprint, but had no qualms about sending 50 diesel powered boats to carry the athletes on a 90+ minute trip down the river for the opening ceremony.

    No AC is normal in France, we hate it for multiple reasons. But for an international event, one might think they would have made an effort...

      Please elaborate further, why do the French hate AC?

    • @EVALLOYD
      @EVALLOYD Před měsícem +1

      It's true that normally in the Northern part of France, it's not usual for homes to be automatically fitted with AC, for it was generally cooler. In the South of France where I live now where temperatures can soar, not all homes are equpped with AC, thank goodness I do, if not, it would be unbearable.

    I was furious with France after mocking Christianity on the opening of the Olympics and I’m also furious with France for not stopping the immigrants from coming over the English Channel after we’ve been giving them 100s of millions of pounds. I’m sick of France at the moment, although I still like the French Christian people just not happy with their government or my own.

    Vegan menus are ok, IF it's a choice. Forcing an athlete to suddenly change diet during a major competition is going to handicap them.

    I think the Olympics should have permanent venues built in the country where it all started, Greece. The games should be held there every time, summer and winter. Just imagine how much money would be saved, I know wishful thinking.

    • @monicaarisman4293
      @monicaarisman4293 Před měsícem +1

      See my comment. Have a rotating host country who has to pay an upkeep fee to keep the venues in excellent condition. But I don't think Greece is the place, especially not for winter sports. IMHO.

      last time Greece hosted the Olympics the whole country went buncrupt, citizens still pay for that in their taxes, and the ones who planned it filled their pockets. 2004 was succesfull i agree but these kind of tounaments should be organised by wealthy countries.
