  • Welcome back guys and gals. Today I took a spin in the 2024 Nissan Titan XD 4x4. I'll give you my honest opinion of what the 2024 is like and why it will be ending in 2024. Truelly sad to see the end of the Titan but as saying goes all good things must come to an end. Well the Titan never really took as they hoped but it will be coming to an end.
With an aging 5.6 Endurance V8 engine, that neither tows super strong or gets good fuel economy, lack luster towing numbers for the market it competes in and dated tech, really the Titan could only succeed in one way. That one way is price. Well it failed there also. You would be better off with an HD truck from any of the big three and frankly all of Detroits three are better half ton trucks. Toyota, although pricey is best if you are wanting to stay away from domestic trucks.

All the “down falls” you speak of are personal opinion. Nothing to do with realiability. You read reviews all over about major known issues with the other brands, yet people still buy them. I have dealt with all other brands on grand scale as I have a large fleet in my company. All other brands have let me down, and have cost me mega bucks in repairs. Nissans have been by far the most reliable.

I have a regular Titan and absolutely love it. I’ve had 3 now. A 2004,2015 and currently a 2018 platinum reserve with a 6” lift and 35” tires. Great trucks!

The problem with what you’re saying is that you put too much faith in advertised towing numbers. Every regular Titan can tow over 9k. The big 3 advertise max numbers for base models. Take a Silverado for example and load it up with all options and a 6.2. Guess where it’s max rating falls? In the 9,000 range. The XD didn’t have the highest on paper rating but it can actually tow at its 11,040lb rating comfortably with the gas 5.6. Go get a Ecoboost and tow at the max. It will be a white knuckle experience not because of power but because of its stability. The gas 5.6 is a great performer and tows well.

Love my Titan - it doesn’t do any one thing better than the other trucks but is still a great truck overall. Plus no stop-start, electric power steering or multi displacement garbage. I need to buy a 23 or 24 before they quit making them

You make some valid points. I have a 2018 Titan XD w/ 5.0 Cummins. I bought it CPO in 2022 because the truck market was so inflated. I will say that tow numbers aren’t that high but it does handle 11k really well. Towing 10-11k with a 1/2 ton is on the very high end of its capabilities. The XD feels right at home in that range. Nissan missed their chance at marketing it as a 3/4 ton instead of a 5/8.

Thanks for this video. I'm not a truck guy, but I am wanting to buy a full-sized truck that can use for hauling a camper and a boat. I also typically prefer to buy Japanese vehicles. So the Titan XD seems like the perfect choice for me. I do agree that none of the specs are really that outstanding and the MSRP is way higher than it should be. There are deals to be had though and I've seen some with significant discounts. The biggest difficulty is trying to find one. I'm having to look all around the country and I'm not that enthusiastic about having to buy one without driving it and then having it shipped across the country. I really need to give the big three another look, but they definitely don't have the deals that I'm seeing on the Titan. It's good to get a perspective from someone with more truck experience to give me more insight.

If you want a used half ton the regular Titans are kind of a hidden gem. Early ones had manifold/cat issues but they are really solid in later years.

Towing and reliability is a major draw for the nissan Titan truck plus lots of safety features with the Nissan Titan over some of the big 3, it was on my list for a reliable truck and chose a 2019 ram 1500 with 8600 miles on it when I bought it October of 2022 it now has 87k miles at roughly 300 miles per day x 5 days no real issues yet

But the bottom line is, the big 3 trucks won't go 100k miles without mechanical issues, and THAT is what people want more than anything.

You definitely don't know what you're talking about. I have this truck. I got 20 to 22 miles to the gallon on the highway. As long as you don't drive it hard. I got like easily 16 to 18 around town. Ford Chevy all those other ones that don't get it. He great gas miles neither. Yeah, if you have a 4 cylinder, try tone with that. If it will you get for mileage, you don't know what you're talking about? That V8 is the most reliable engine out there. After Toyota got rid of that 57 and that's a fact look it up.

The problem as well and this goes for any of the more limited production quantity vehicle ( and now its ended production ) is in the future to own such a truck means the finding of generic parts for basic maintenance repairs just won't be available like they generally are for the big three truck manufacturers, the dealer parts prices will undoubtedly be insane and no doubt scarce as well. Buying a popular vehicle that had massive quantities built is generally easier and more affordable to keep on the road longer if one is buying from the used market or keeps a vehicle for a long period of years.

I don’t understand why people nitpick the difference of 1000 to 1500 pound towing capacity. Even listed as an HD, whether you are the 5.6 or the old 5.0 Cummins, nobody should be towing more than nine or 10,000 pounds With a half ton or wanna be three-quarter ton truck. You start pushing 10,000 pounds plus, you should be in a three-quarter ton. So, that being said, does the titan XD do the job? It does. It’s a decent Japanese truck built with some purpose and capability. I have a 317,000 mile 2008 Toyota tundra and a 50,000 mile 2019 F150 crew cab 3.5 with 6 1/2 foot bed 4 x 4. Both are good trucks. But I bet the titan XD is way more reliable than my 2019 F150

@@mikeylee3017my xd Pro4X gas, has a tow rating of nearly 12,000lbs, payload of 2300lbs (according to the door sticker) it has bigger brake rotors than nearly all other “3/4 tons”, and large leaf springs. I tow 10,480lb 5th wheel. It did way better that my brothers f250. My 5th wheel on his f250, swatted his truck like no one’s business. Stability was just not there. You really have to drive it and tow with it to understand.

Well, he speaks on personal preference. Nothing on reliability. As everyone moves to turbo boosted 1L bulls*** engines, the nisssn Titan will start showing its true colors. GM 6.2, Ford ecoboost, all garbage. Nothing but issues. Had between 10-30 of each of those units.
