How Megatron dodged the tripredacus council and the other maximals in Cybertron is beyond me.
The Tripredacus Council were in alliance with the Maximals, but they were also after all a group of Predecons, albeit with different origins. They commissioned a Deception reprogrammed as a Predacon. The Tripredacus Council was secretly developing technology like the Transwarp Cruiser. Their allegiance seems questionable. Megatron was able to turn Ravage to his side. Considering all of this, maybe Megatron was able to convince the Tripredacus Council to betray the alliance with the Maximals, then Megatron betrayed the council after helping him. However, Megatron did say in Beast Machines that there were "billions" of Transformers. Extracting all their sparks does seem like a colossal task. Also there were other Cybertronians on other planets, wouldn't any of them have tried to rescue Cybertron? Will these questions ever be answered? Will they ever make another G1-Beast Wars canon show? Where is the Mandalorian / Picard of Beast Wars? Most of the reboots don't seem to stick well. Where is the Mandalorian / Picard S3 of Beast Wars?
@@alterbr33d I think it was explained in a comic that Megatron arrived on Cybertron before the Maximals and hooked back up with his old mentor Cryotek who helped him develop the virus only for Megatron to once again betray him but this time killing him.
Megatron after escaping got out of transwarp space years before Optimus and his crew would return. So he had time to create a virus and paralyzing/devolving gas. And extract the sparks of everybody on cybertron. If I had to guess because the tripredicus council wanted him dead and may have discovered his survival by the time the virus was activated they along with the predacons on the various satellites where probably like “nope” and backed away as to not get shot down (unless they where shot down). Thus Megatron created a new timeline.
@@muigokublack6487 not really killing him, Megatron were frustrated that he loose the beast wars and decided to remove his beast mode as he see it useless now, after he meet his mentor Cryotek, his mentor offer him a solution in exchange that Cryotek having Megatron dragon beast mode and he can removed his beast mode.
Cryotek got his wishes and have a dragon beast mode of his own this however Left him in stasis lock and megs took the chance stealing all Cryotek plans including the virus.
By the time Cryotek awoken, Cybertron were overun by mindless vehicons army and he later on fled to meet up with the quentession too seek refuge

How Dinobot’s Spark didn’t make an appearance at all baffles me. How awesome would it have been if his Spark rebelled or boosted up Primal for the final showdown.
Is 9:01 the closest we get to a Dinobot reference in the entire show? I mean the shadow looks like him and the green laser is a signature of Dinobot's weaponry. But yeah, I think Dinobot 2 should have survived the end of Beast Wars, he would have been a fine addition to Beast Machines. There is a lot one could do with Dinobot 2 reverting back to looking like original Dinobot but not really being him, he's just a clone. A lot of questions and looking inward that would have fit with this more mature Beast Machines show.

@@rivera229 that wasn’t dinobot. It was one of botanica’s crew members. That green laser was the dna scanner downloading the plant form data into that crew member so it could assume it’s form.
Dinobots spark joined the matrix so it wouldn’t have been with the sparks megatron captured. But yea he could have made an appearance when optimus was communing with the matrix.

Do not forget that after regaining his free will, he agreed with Megatron's plan. The only issue was Megatron's beast mode.
@@robobird3383 I like to think that he didn’t really regain his free will, he only regained his memories and intelligence, but his mind was still being influenced by a Vehicon shell program, giving us the same result as that one episode when the he was reprogrammed as a Predacon. He still identified as Tankor after his Rhinox persona resurfaced, because by all intents and purposes, he still was Tankor, just with Rhinox’s intelligence and memories.

In Beast Wars they were already cyborgs capable of transforming into animals in order to shield themselves from energon which overloads purely robotic beings. Without his cyborg body his mind became callous because there was no longer a living body instead just a living Spark within the robotic body of Tankor, programmed by Megatron to have several limitations... So he lost a lot of his identity that came from his old living body sort of speaking... Only to be recovered post mortem when his spark rejoins the Matrix.
I'm pretty sure the Beast Warriors were purely mechanical, and the beast modes were just like a skin suit over their mechanical bits. If they were already cyborgs, there would be no need to reformat them.

You know what’s odd. With what waspinator said. It took 4 million years for him to get back to cybertron. So technically he is the oldest Predacon. He was flying back to cybertron during the Great War between the Autobots and decepticons. Only to be caught be Megatron shortly before the maximals would return lol.

I 100% agree with you. Even though Beast Wars was probably the most awesome (and important!), Transformers series ever created (and this coming from a 43yo, who grew up with the G1 era in the mid 80s), Beast Machines was just as awesome, just on a different scale. Beast Machines gets a bad wrap, when it was actually pretty damn good. While it was extremely the opposite of Beast Wars, the storytelling was topnotch! One of the most enjoyable things for me during the initial watching (when it originally aired), was finding out what had happened to the characters that had left prehistoric Earth, that were not amonst the cast of characters whom initially meet up in the first episode. Learning about Rhinox/his spark was the most depressing (and infuriating!) part, but the most humorous was the reality of who exactly held Silverbolt and Waspinators spark. That was enjoyable (and surprising!) who were actually carrying their sparks. My ONLY complaint about that series, was what they did to my favorite character Rattrap...they screwed him up (on so many levels!), by giving him that stupid ass body design. They took him from being a bad ass warrior in Beast Wars, to a damn fool with freakin' wheels in Beast Machines! That has always been my only complaint with that series but storywise, it was topnotch, and awesome. I've always loved the darker tone (and seriousness) of Beast Machines as well, especially coming after the happy (and more chipper) Beast Wars atmosphere. It had to change, simply because of the storyline, and I loved it. It was a great series, just extremely unloved and overlooked, and maybe even a little misunderstood as well.

He's what I think as well, when it first aired, many like me were just kids around 8-12 years old and because it wasdarker (both literally and narratively) and wasn't as happy as Beast Wars, me and many others didn't like it because of the more complex storytelling. But I think now as an adult, me and many others have grown to have a deep fondness for the series because now as adults we understand the darker tones and needing behind this series. Yes, I consider Beast Machines to be an at times depressing and sad show to watch compared to Beast Wars but damn do I enjoy what that dark, gritty, depressing, noir even storytelling that it brings to the table. And yes. Rattrap DEFINITELY was the one character that got screwed the most in this series. From the wise cracking scared doomer who you could always count on to rise to the occasion to this sad doomer whom the writers decided to just drag through the mud. Almost like he wasn't even the same character. You can chalk all that up to what happened to him once they got back to Cybertron but it's no excuse to completely get rid of everything we loved about the character. I will say yes, his robot mode was the worst design but I actually did think his beast mode was his best looking beast mode. And yes, you can almost say the same thing about Rhinox but I actually enjoyed that he became a fallen hero that turned his back on everyone to do his own crazy scheme. It was a tragedy but a good kind of tragedy like Romeo & Juliet. But those 2 or 1 1/2 character negatives about the show pale in comparison to the bright positives of this show #1 being Cheetor. He is the only character from the very first episode of Wars to the last episode of Machines to go through a full character arc. He went from being a fresh, naive, young space cadet to becoming the next leader of the Maximals. He literally grew up right before our eyes. I think that resonates with a lot of us fans since at the same time we were growing up as well. I still get emotional when Optimus who couldn't lead because he was sick & exhausted chose Cheetor to lead the Maximals in his place. I don't remember the exact dialog but if I remember correctly Cheetor says "Me?" And Optimus reassures Cheetor that he is ready and can do this. And yeah. Cheetor was ready. And damn did he earn his place and prove Optimus was right in his judges. He shows it a few episodes later by relieving Optimus of command because he saw that Optimus wasn't thinking clearly and putting the Maximals in incredible danger. Ironic really. And even though he was surprised at first that Cheetor did this, he doesn't actually argue or go against Cheetor's decision because he respects Cheetor and knows that he did it for a good reason. So yeah. If Cheetor is anyone's favorite, I highly recommend they watch Beast Machines so they see the conclusion of the rest of his arc. In a way, he became the main character. And I feel like Cheetor is how they should've handled Hot Rod/Rodimus is G1.
@@dahoomancentipee9461 I, 100%, agree with everything that you stated in your comment! Especially regarding Cheetor!! He has an undeniably perfect character arc from episode 1 of Beast Wars, all the way to episode 26 of Beast Machines, no denying that, whatsoever. Never in a million years, did I ever think he would grow into the character that he did, and even ultimately become the leader of the Maximals. I'll never understand what ultimately corrupted Rhinox's spark however because of the character that he always was in Beast Wars, and what he stood for. Even though there were a few things that I didn't like, I still love that series, and still think it was a great continuation of the Beast Wars saga. On a sidenote, I also agree with you about how that is exactly how they should have handled Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime, instead of letting him grow, and then taking him backwards, and taking away his evolving and growing up into a leader.

Why were they all running on foot when being chased by vehicons? Rattrap had wheels, Cheetor was lightning fast as shown in Beast Wars, Optimus had his flight mode, and could have carried the others. None of them were infected yet.

I believe the reason why BEAST MACHINES didn't connect with a lot of people is due to these reasons:
1: It embarks on the after-effects of war. Meaning after you go through traumatizing events, killings, etc. It will mold you into becoming something else. Which, in most cases depressed and mad at the world. That happened in the series, and everyone was too severely depressed. You don't showcase these dark elements in a kids' show, especially every episode. The show was too mature for its audience.
2: The organic robot forms. Many BEAST WARS fans like myself didn't like the organic look of the transformers. I understood what the writers were going for. I/e Making the transformations look more HUMANOID, which correlates with the organic spectrum. But at the same time, it felt a bit weird, and at times they were not good to look at. Not just that, because of the organic forms, the transformers have no weapons (i.e., tech/guns, etc.) except for the limited organic powers such as shock, flight, and beam powers.
and its even more maddening that the oracle was infact manufacture by quentession as they the one whom plan the techno organic transformation in the first place in order

No worries, I can just tell Netflix to make a 2D anime reboot of the original Beast Wars show based on DOTA and Berserk, then I'd also tell them to design them in Transmetal forms only but also colored in their original colors too.
Disagree with your first point. I think the main problem is just that the characters are so changed from their original counterparts in Beast Wars
Actually the main reason why the characters are so different is because the writers of beast machines were not allowed to watch beast wars because hasbro wanted it to be as different as possible. I guess you could say that they were experiencing trauma, but in all honesty, with the exception of silverbolt, it's kind of hard to justify that with a lot of the characters because not only do they not talk about that, some of the character changes being as a result of trauma make no sense, like Optimus primal becoming a religious zealot, Rhinox all of a sudden hating organics and siding with Megatron, and Rattrap changing because of his new body lacking weapons and less of his reaction to war.

You can see them look apprehensive, they pause, and sort of stick there hands out as if to say stop.
It makes sense as more of a response to Waspinator rather than Silverbolt, except I'd expect them to pull their guns out, but they are Maximals, and Waspinator alone walking up rather than flying isn't that much of a threat.

I don’t understand why the maximals didn’t fight back the vehicons when they have their Transmetal forms, they were powerful enough to destroy a lot of vehicons.
I've been a TF fan since the original series way back in '84, and have always thought that this was such a great series, and a great continuation of Beast Wars, especially storywise. My only gripes back then, and even now too, have always been the horrible robot mode for my favorite character Rattrap, and of course, the jacked up way that they ruined my other favorite character Rhinox's story by turning him evil; it just never made any sense, and was completely unlike Rhinox, and not what he would have ever actually become. I still loved the story though, and loved the guessing, and the reveal when originally watching it on the TV back then, of who's Spark was inside who's Body, or what actually happened to the bots that were absent that had also left Prehistoric Earth at the end of Beast Wars. Even though I had a few irks with it, I still loved it, and have always wished that it could've gotten as much love as Beast Wars did. Don't forget about that animation too though, it was so beautiful and such high quality too, especially for a weekly series back in '99. Good times. 🙂
Probably the biggest issue with beast machines is how the techno-organic bodies have no resemblance to the maximal's original bodies. Like with the transmetal bodies, they still had similar heads and faces.
I wish little more beast wars moments in beast machines.

Looking back what bothers me the most about this series is the lack of distinct environments, it’s either cave, Megatron’s lair, or bland part of Cybertron. Beast wars at least had the occasional lush jungle or frozen tundra to break up the monotony of the barren rocky plains most of the action took place on, with the occasional floating mountain thrown in for flavor, and I know, I know limits of the technology of the time, but still.

That’s what happened to the Maximals' Transmetal bodies! Their Transmetal bodies have been devolved by transformation viruses, even, their transformation cogs have been broken too! At worst, Silverbolt and Rhinox mutated into Tankor and Jetstorm!
At least, until the Cybertronian Oracle reformatted Optimus and the others just to restore their ability to transform.

Rhinox and silver bolt got it way worse. That devolving gas Paralyzed them instead of devolving them which lead to them having there sparks extracted after the tank drones blasted the others away. Only for Megatron to take there sparks and bury there core consciousness’s under new 1s that where the opposite of there personalities. Thus leading to silver bolt and Rhinox being corrupted.

To save money Mainframe reused Depthcharge's body, reusing bodies happens a lot throughout Transformers.

Honestly at 3:45, this flashback *CLEARLY* shows Boss-Monkey in his *Transmetal II* form, yet he doesn't take Cheetor and fly away somewhere safe. Same with Silverbolt and Rattrap. Is this because of plot or just forgetfulness, or just laziness?
Transmetal II Cheetor was in between a cheetah and a smilodon (epigenetics) but had a rocket on his back so he could probably outrun the Vehicons with tank treads. Transmetal Rattrap probablt could have outrun them too on his own being wheeled. Optimus would have flown up, his propulsion system does work on Cybertron, Megatron was able to use it later.
Larry DiTillio & Bob Forward, the creators of Beast Wars, didn't work on Beast Machines. Beast Wars & Beast Machines were both made at the same studio, but by 1999 a lot of people were leaving and being replaced. They had access to the old models, but didn't have the full understanding of their functions.
@@alterbr33d Ooooooh. Now I understand. Thanks! I was confused since I watched "Beast Wars" and had a full understanding of the "Transmetal" and "Transmetal II" functions then comes "Beast Machines" and I had so many questions.
Cheetor basically became rhinox in this series and if anything became better than Optimus multiple times in the series. He could see optimus making bad mistakes even he wouldn't do.

Even after all these years i still barely like their designs I love the ideas and elements of the designs but overall not pleasing to the eye...botanica and silverbolt look better in robot mode and rattrap is overall the best...i think but man i know they ran out of money but damn lol

I think black arcania had it the worse, out of the oringals, beast mode was fine and pretty cool but robot mode was ok at best. Primal and Cheetor had similar issues both modes looked cool in motion but were WAY too uncanny in the face. Like cheetors beast mode is my favorite

I appreciate this series now in the nostalgic sense...but when it first aired I loathed it so hard, and still find it hard to swallow as a sequel to "Beast Wars" but can appreciate it somewhat on it's own...somewhat... I was always happy to see the giant, fugly Beast Machines Cheetor and Rattrap toys in the 'clearance' section of Walmart though...(not cause I wanted to buy them, cause I was glad the hideous toy line failed)

4:04 This scene ALWAYS bugged me. How did optimus devolved into his original body when said body no longer exist? Remember when he blew up to dust and rhinox had to snatch his spark into a completely new transmetal body in the premier of beast wars season 2?
What was left of his gorilla parts were transmetalized, which is a real word meaning to turn organic molecules into metal, so maybe somewhere deep in the metal some soft tissue still existed and Megatron could get gorilla DNA from that. However he did not have his Season 1 robot parts as they were moving through space which can actually be seen in two episodes. Here's the thing, they can manufacture robot bodies on Cybertron, at the end of Beast Machines Megatron had Optimal Optimus's body on file and was able to reproduce it, maybe Primal's Season 1 body parts were also on file because that's how he was when he first left Cybertron. So Primal's robot parts were on file on Cybertron, and maybe he had a little Gorilla DNA left. The problem is they said it was a virus that de-evolved them, it happened when they showed them being exposed to a green gas. I don't see how some green gas could do that unless it was full of microscopic airborne nanobots that can rebuild things.

@@Vilgax00 Dinobot's second death was stupid and pointless. Optimus could have transformed into flight mode and saved him, but Dinobot just let himself die for no reason, so that the writers could have some shitty dramatic effect.

Well,hasbro "encouruge" them to not watch Beast Wars,so thats the result. Still a preety good show though.
As terrible as beast machines was, most of the bots new forms were decent.
Black Arachnia got a serious downgrade though...
Beast Machines was a huge downgrade in design and the overall atmosphere was depressing. If your gonna change the tone to a more grim setting then at least keep the same characters
