What’s really awesome is making that complex bassline, simplifying it and then having a more complex version to drop later in the arrangement! You can take away all the clashing elements and let that bassline shine through for 4-16 bars as part of a buildup later in the track, and then bring it back to the simple version. Might have to do this myself to add some more variety soon!
In most cases, less is more. Minimal productions are becoming popular. listener,s brains will not process excess information.

It depends, if the vocal is a background element not necessarily, but if the vocal is a center point of focus then yep!
