  • John Fogerty’s "Fortunate Son" is a rock anthem that takes a shot at the privileged elites who dodge the draft while the less fortunate fight their wars. Fogerty doesn’t mince words-he’s pissed off and it shows. Why should the wealthy get a pass while everyone else pays the price? The song’s raw energy and unapologetic message made it a rallying cry against the Vietnam War and still resonates today. It’s a no-holds-barred critique of inequality, straight from the heart and gut.

And it's just as true today. We're not drafting young men to go fight useless wars, but the privilege, luck, and falsified value still exists. So many of us, including myself, are born into better situations than most Americans. Then, we have the audacity to take credit for our good fortune and mock others who are falling behind who, it turns out, weren't born into our good fortune. I've just described the difference between Republicans and Democrats. Republican - the Mean Party.

Immediately promoted to officer isn't a thing. Commissioning and enlisting are two entirely different paths.

Not entirely certain that’s relevant to the point but your input is appreciated, Jim!
