- This is a new edit of some of the wildest Heads Up Drag Racing crashes from various tracks across the country. Includes footage from UHAV's Carnage Fest vol.2 and Carnage Fest vol.3 DVDs, available at www.urbanhillbi.... None of the the drivers in this video were injured.

3:20 I love how the white Mustang wobbles for a second at the start, then regains control, only to be hit by the other car, yet he keeps on going and finishes the race just fine. Impressive. The hardest part in drag racing is not the shifting, but the throttle discipline. You can't put too much pressure on the pedal, or you'll spin out. It has to be a slow, gentle, gradual press, otherwise you'll end up like these poor folks. I used to race production-stock cars for my wealthy uncle in his private race car club. Lots of great cars for circuit, oval, 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile and endurance drag (5 mile straights).

Your videos never disappoint. I'd like to see some POV views and what it takes for these guys to get out in a hurry. We practice fast exits from our ground vehicle rollovers and helicopter crashes in the military and it's definitely a three stooges affair till we nail it and get it right every time.

They really can crash fast! While I can appreciate the work and money that goes in them and the speed they get I like the rawness of street dragsters and how its possble with some work to have a go yerself.
always puts a smile on my face seeing a terrible wreck like at 1:00 and then seeing the driver climb out unharmed (albeit real pissed off) LOL. But hey, race another day. thats the name of the sport!

I been dragracing for many years and luckly I have only had 2 close calls the first was my 66chevy 2 it was a 4speed and as I hit 4thgear the rear axle broke and I went for a long ride the 2nd was my 53Studebaker when I went to high gear the steering wheel came off at 135mph the car started tored the wall and about 2inc from the wall I finally slipped it back on enough to straighten it back out I couldn't get out of it cause I was winning I kept my cool long enough to get it back on I tried to play it off like it didn't bother me and it didn't until I got out CRAZY
this shit gets my blood pressure up just watching it I'd love to be sitting in cockpit

I had a fast, quick car in the 70's but these are far beyond my ability, apparently beyond some of these drivers as well.

I have a question. Would it be safer for the walls to be further away from the lanes so there is less kinetic energy on impact, if any impact at all? The worst damage seems to be from the vehicles contacting the rails.

I've raced for many years and I have had some close calls but the Craziest was I hit high gear and my steering wheel came off. I couldn't get out of it cause I was winning. I went across the finish line at 134mph with no steering I kept my cool long enough to slip it on just before I was going to touch the wall. I played it off like it was no big deal, but I had to change my shorts that round behind the truck!!
I am not surprised that a lot of these crashes happened at Orlando Speed World (Bithlo). I have raced there and the lanes are just brutal...

Incredible how safe cars are. They crash, sure, but not one fatality in all of these, except maybe that second to last one.

I'd say the two camaros after 1:50, the red promod and the 4th gen. At the speeds they were going it was incredibly lucky they got back under control.

Sometimes the crew of that team try to run and help their driver. Or relatives get emotional and want to run in and help from the starting line.
Other times the commentator is an excited idiot!
All done for show. They could actually care less if someone ran out there and got run over by a fire truck. The more dead people the more spectacle.
I think It was only said once. Always would be more like 75-100% of the time, not 1%.

YOU ever hear of DOBBLE UGLY, NAMELY a.compatension tractor that was on the circuit in the back half of the 70"s. It was powered by an.experimental dual crank shaft 24 cylinder ALESANN airplane engine for B29. It was at The Cow Palace in San Francisco and won the event with full pulls of the slead, one after another. Only problem looked like they make sure it stayed on the track.

On a lot of these wrecks, a track personnel guy rushes over to the car, and switches off something at the rear of the car. What are they doing?
They are pit crew kill switches so that way the engine will stop and no more fuel will be put in the motor

You know what the worse thing is about seeing the car you sponsor hit a wall? You know the driver is going to be on our doorstep within the week begging for help to rebuild it ;)

what causes most of these cars to suddenly go out of control? Is it the skinny front tires, broken suspension? I don't get it
any slight jerk of the tires at all causes you to crash.
A combination of antiquated technology being pushed to its limits, mechanical failures, shitty drivers, and poorly maintained tracks. But more often than not... driver error.
So why do they go to the side and crash? Bad stabilizers or bad drivers?
why do they run up to the back of the cars and turns some thing on / off on some cars? (after they crashed)
all drag cars have kill switches, it turns off electronics, fuel delivery, for safety
Is there a quick shut down on the back of these vehicles? I see the safety crew on a few of them run to the back and touch something, then go get em out, is it an emergency cut off?
How long does it take to build these awesome machines ...and how long does it take to destroy.them....I would be gutted ...stay safe guys ..
What causes a car to go sideways right off the line? A broken rear axel?
Why dont they put those safety wheels on the sides, So that it goes straight. Or did they already try that out and actually messes up the stability?
