  • Asif Hirani was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan. He comes from an Ismaili converted background, his maternal family still being Ismaili while his paternal family converted to mainstream Islam. He became serious in religion when he was around 17 years of age, freshly graduating high school, on his way to start his journey in his undergrad. Upon changing the discourse of his life and focusing more onto deen, he started his study in Islamic Studies. While his parents were still exploring the variety of options of madrassas and Aalims, in 2003-2004 Asif got into contact with Shujauddin Shaykh, the Ameer of Tanzeem-e-Islami. From there, he went on and met Dr. Israr Ahmed, and different phases started following bit by bit. He was doing his undergrad in Business from Pakistan but transferred his credits to Houston midway, finishing his degree just to complete the promise he had made to his mother. He worked for Gap Old Navy for 6 months, and then continued pursuing his Islamic Education.
He is a citizen of America and had moved to Houston just to get to experience the West and get some exposure, making it easier for him to study the society better. To this day, Asif Hirani gives talks, daawahs and khutbas in the US. His phD is from Jamia Madina, from Malaysia. He was working as an Imam in New Jersey while he was focusing on writing thesis and taking his courses. He also completed a few courses in Jamia Abi Bakr in Karachi. After his phD, he went and took small sabbaticals, travelling to Madinah, Jordan and Pakistan to complete dawra of a few books with the Mashaiq privately.
Currently, Asif Hirani is engaged in multiple projects. He is the Dean of Amal Institute, where Shariah compliant Ummah centric activists are produced. He is also part of the INT masjid in Dallas, as a resident scholar. He is also an adjunct faculty professor in Boston Islamic Seminary.
