  • Pandit Mansur was one of the Greatest Vocalists of Jaipur Atrauli Gharana. His sweet, melodious and perfectly tuneful voice conveyed a kind of an emotional intensity that is generally not associated with Jaipur Gharana. Here he presents a Raag Khokar an extremely melodious Raga. For many of his fans he was the King of Khyal Gayaki!
    A Live Performance.

The trance that Malik sahib can enjoy from singing these raags cannot be attained from just listening to them.

Once Ustad Alladiya Khansaheb was lost in thoughts and came up with this beautiful raga. Khokar is Kho-kar. (after having lost in thought). This is what he named it.

Are you saying that AK invented this rag? It is listed in the RadhaGovindSangitsar (ca. 1800, Jaipur).

Thanks to Dattaji . Very soothing Anand Khokar raag. Looks simple, but difficult to render. I am from Dharwad, M Mansurji place.

This flows beautifully. Can anyone sing this without inner peace!!
Is it the notes of raga which sooth us, or is it the call of soul? Can we analyse this bliss and give logic? I do not know.

      Good question.
This composition I gather is due to Usatd Alladiya Khan Saheb. Raga itself is extremely beautiful. Panditji's voice quality, the development of the Bandish and the emotional intensity poured in his rendering all contribute to the almost mystical experience for the listner. In my view almost all of Panditji renderings of all Ragas contain BHAKTI RAS- He seems to worship GOD through his singing!
