    Great video. I like the g3x camera. Also I like the honesty of landing to fix your error with the radiator tape.

    Great flight 1AM - I'm looking to build a Sling TSI and really have enjoyed your content. Great learning lessons too!

    There is always a lot of bumps coming in on 6 at KISM even on calm days. My home airport.

    Wish they made a Johnson bar (Mooney style) retract sling tsi! It would be a speedster

    I really hope to see a sling at an air expo. I also want to test fly one before I buy.

    Love the TSI performance. Did you guys get the air conditioner installed and if so where did you stick it? I've purchase a High Wing and waiting for it to show up.

      @OneAlphaMike  Před rokem

      To my knowledge, the only Sling in the world with an air conditioner is that of @3blades476, and he had to engineer it himself! I've heard others are working on their own alternatives, but I've yet to encounter a working model to see if it's worth the cost, weight, etc. For me, "climb and maintain 65 degrees F" works great!

    Hey what is the sun visor that you are using on your side window? I have been looking for one for my Sling TSi here in NZ 😀

    On the right side of the panel, is that an iPad? What does it do for us, for flight, that the Garmin 750 won't do?

    • @OneAlphaMike
      @OneAlphaMike  Před rokem +1

      Yes, that's an iPad. I wouldn't compare it to a 750, though. That's a $20k piece of equipment, so of course an iPad is cheaper. But you still need a certified GPS navigator for IFR. I have the GNX 375 for that, which is like $7k. I think of the iPad is being used in lieu of a second GDU / G3X screen.
      In a couple of previous videos I explain why I like the iPad vs a second G3X screen:

    I still heard that hill in my head🤣 I hear you with battling the heat. Right about when it’s 32° on the ground I put one strip of aluminum tape on my oil cooler and one strip on the radiator for my 915. It’s a real pain when you’re doing cross countries to different climates and flying in the flight levels or cooling isn’t as effective. I wish there was an easy thermostat solution for both the oil and coolant just like a car. Do you get oil foaming at high altitudes where it dribbles out the breather tube? Mine seems too…

    • @OneAlphaMike
      @OneAlphaMike  Před rokem

      You lost me on that first comment. 🤷‍♂🤣 I agree with you about the thermostat. I know one guy in Michigan who tried a thermostat, but he ended up taking it back out - not sure why. It's an aftermarket thermostat which apparently is commonly used with Rotax, but it doesn't have the blessing of Rotax, so it's a little "extra experimental." I've never had any oil foaming up high that I know of. My belly is always dry - nothing out of the breather tube. I know low pressure can suck oil from the breather tube if not routed properly. We put a couple of turns in that tube and haven't had any problems.

      @@OneAlphaMike ahh damn Siri. Meant “heard Benny hill in my head”. My oil pressure is around 57 at 72%. Belly gets a little greasy and the hanger floor has a drip or two after a flight from the breather. Heard stories about an air separator that might take care of the foaming.

      @@Captndarty This company sells oil and water thermostats for the 915, but I don't know anyone who has tried them. www.flyrotax.com/assets/filesDistributors/dis0008/Special_Accessories_10-2022-komp.pdf

    Has anyone tried attaching a mechanically operated, sliding cover that can partially cover the oil cooler on cold start ups and be gradually opened up in flight as the oil heats up?

    • @OneAlphaMike
      @OneAlphaMike  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Yes, I know of a Sling TSi owner in Michigan who has installed this oiler cooler shutter, which is an aftermarket product for Vans airplanes: antisplataero.com/products/oil-cooler-air-shutter
      He says it gives him about 20 degrees of control, but he still has to tape in winter. Another option is either an oil or water thermostat. There are aftermarket thermostats, but Rotax doesn't officially support them. I think Rotax should offer one of their own, or choose an aftermarket one that they can endorse.

    Great videos, but the GX display image is terrible. to shakey,

    • @OneAlphaMike
      @OneAlphaMike  Před rokem +1

      Yeah, I agree. This was an exceptionally gusty day, though. That camera is just an iPhone on a suction cup mount. Of course, the mount wasn't moving around that much, so I think the iPhone's built-in "stabilization" actually made things worse. I found a way to smooth out the shakiness in post, so I'll do that next time!
