CM Punk in AEW: The End (Documentary)

- čas přidán 6. 09. 2023
- CM Punk's return to professional wrestling in 2021 set the wrestling world ablaze and launched AEW from an alternative wrestling promotion to a bonafide threat in the wrestling space.
Tempting CM Punk back to wrestling was on the cards since his departure from WWE in 2014 and AEW, and Tony Khan, finally got Punk to put pen to paper after 7 and-a-half years.
While everything started red-hot and continued that way for several months, things went wildly off the rails coming up to the Double or Nothing pay-per-view in 2022. In the months that followed there were injuries, interim champions, and wrecked long-term plans.
Returning post-injury and defeating Jon Moxley at the All Out pay-per-view in 2022, CM Punk participated in a post-event media scrum where he vehemently criticised Colt Cabana, Kenny Omega, Matt & Nick Jackson, and Hangman Adam Page.
This led to a brawl between Omega, the Jacksons and Punk. All parties were suspended, and CM Punk was out injured months beyond his suspension.
In June 2023, CM Punk returned to All Elite Wrestling on a new weekly television show, AEW Collision, which was orchestrated specifically to tailor to Punk's vision.
In the following months were arguments, leaked stories, bans, removals and now infamous encounters between Jack Perry, CM Punk, Tony Khan and others at the All In pay-per-view at Wembley Stadium.
This documentary chronicles CM Punk's return to AEW in June 2023 and follows his journey up until his termination after the All In pay-per-view.
For the sake of everybody's time; the decision was made to cut out some matches and moments, and just to focus on segments and matches that flowed best with the story. This includes excluding the match against Satoshi Kojima at Forbidden Door.

This aged pretty well lol
I have never been so disappointed with how this all ended
Punk and these shoot promos were literally the ticket to taking AEW to another level. I guarantee like Punk or not Vince would've done whatever he had to do to keep this angle going. Tony fired the biggest and brightest star in the industry in order to appease a bunch of indie fools. Tony wanted everyone to be happy. If that's your first concern as a promoter you're a fuckin mark. Vince would've been out of business after 5 years if he thought that way.
Really? Kinda seen ALL this coming the moment they hired the low life cancer honestly.
@@travelreview5962 You're right. Vince stood by wrestlers who think could make more money, even if they're hated in the locker room, because he's a businessman first.
Vince would’ve but honestly if punk did the same thing in wwe how vince would’ve reacted.
Since punk was apparently chiming for a wwe return according to fightful
But idk it’s a very different landscape but I do wanna point out to the ultimate warrior’s story in wwe where he was giving a lot and was ultimately fired when he challenged vince
Not a similar story since warrior never threatened staff or vince with violence but idk if vince would’ve kept the angle or would’ve fired him out right
@@meridiantelekoms 100%... and you are going to have to have the same mindset if you want to build anything near the same level as he has. The business today may be prettier and more politically correct, but make no mistake there has never been a more difficult time than hire to compete for peoples attention than now. You are going to have to make difficult decisions every day and screwing up this bad can be a nail in the coffin.... especially if Punk decided to go back to WWE.
Please don't ever stop making these kick ass documentaries, dude. Quality fuckin content.
100% spot on with this comment
I need this kind of documentary for Samoe Joe as well.
Exactly ❤🙌
It is not a documentary, it is a compilation.
Dude has a gift!
Punk's exit from AEW will always be legendary. Beat the shit out of Jack Perry, yelled at his boss, came out and fought Joe like nothing happened, winning the match in front of a massive 80,000+ crowd chanting his name and theme song, says goodbye and walks out knowing he's done, gets fired, chills for 2 months, then shows back up in WWE.
I'll always be of the belief that Punk was ready to leave after Brawl Out, but Tony wouldn't let him out of his contract, so he fought Perry to force his hand. His little smirk as he came out implies that he knew he was out, and was ready to go out on top. I hope he managed to keep the belt lol.
Edit: so the theory that he wanted out after Brawl Out was more or less confirmed by him. He was ready to leave, and actually told Tony "I quit" before going out and wrestling his biggest match. Lol
He also stated he wanted to quit well before that
One chapter ends, and another one starts.

Ikr but atleast we got to see him return to wrestling in general
@@KaiTheCheetahTrue but to see him become what he claimed to despise? That was not what I wanted to see. He started to believe his own hype and BS. Remember how he said NOBODY is bigger than the people, or the business. Then he became just that, or HE THOUGHT HE WAS. Now not all the blame is or falls on him. There are a few people, a few people who again believe that they are bigger than they truly are. Executive Vice Presidents, which is LOL, NOT AN ACTUAL TITLE!! The Elite, the Young Sucks, Kenny Omega, etc, turned into schoolboy crybabies! Whaah!! he picked on me, Whaah!! Now I'm not condoning what Punk did. He truly acted like a SPOILED BRAT! And now as hard as this is to say, maybe the wwe had a reason to fire his *ss? And I can't stand the wwe, but Punk acted like a little Punk. I can't understand why his ego got so big. Why he started to believe he was a god among men? Yes he was a great wrestler, and yes his return was one of the biggest POPS ever in Pro Wrestling, but in the end he was still just a wrestler. He seemed to feel that he didn't need to do what the other wrestlers did, since he was "royalty"? Again something he claimed he hated about the wwe. And yeah the Elite may have come across as Royalty, but Punk's big mouth didn't help matters. This entire fiasco was because of ONE THING! EGOS! Guys had too big of an Ego, other guys had their Egos bruised, and some may just be total A-Holes? Either way, this turned into a schoolyard slap fest. I had hoped Luke Perry's kid wasn't some entitled little brat. He may not be? I wasn't there, and the TRUE ACTUAL FACTS of what happened between them, well each person will have a different "recollection" of what happened. What could have been an amazing experience and a cornerstone of professional wrestling, became a joke!
Who knows maybe the wwe planted Philly Brooks in AEW to cause chaos and create animosity? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 Hmmmmmm? LOL.
he’s a cancer , it was inevitable , not a shame when you self sabotage everywhere you go
Bro fr I thought this time would be different
It didn't have to. If Tony had any balls, treated it like a business instead of fantasy booking with real life action figures, trying to be everyone's friend, didn't put people in positions they neither deserved nor earned, I could go on, but with the counterfeit Bucks marks in here, it would be pointless. Mind you, I have always had an issue with Punks backstage antics, but don't make objective statements based on your subjective perspective
"One bill Phil... That's because I am the one, true, genuine article in a business full of counterfeit bucks."
That was one hell of a line.
And now he is back in WWE.
And now he is injured 😂
I have to say……this is a Grade A fantastic documentary……put together in less than a week from being fired from AEW. You, my friend, should get tons of acknowledgment for this masterpiece.

As long as Kenny omega and young bucks stay in aew... It won't even be a 50% of what wwe is... When NJPW, who always sends their wrestlers with respect and honor to other companies had issues with Kenny omega, you need to understand how big off a arsehole he is...
CM punk is too old school to hang out with these guys...
Imagine using a popular faction like bullet club and being in it just to promote their own elite group and leaving it😅...
Wrestler control Aew and they don't listen to management...
Tony’s lack of ability to manage is quite honestly the most remarkable thing in wrestling despite all the talent that has walked through doors they could not do a thing with.
U couldn’t have said it better
I was confused about the whole history between Punk and the Elite. Thank you so much for making this documentary, hands down quality content
Thank you for compiling this. It’s so refreshing to be able to follow it all “in real time” instead of reading the dirtsheets, going back and watching, checking out all the opinions, etc etc etc
Really great and valuable content
The body language between Omega and Punk’s when they’re talking about “ the incident” speaks volumes to me:
Punk is angry, confrontational, and generally gives off a “do not f*** with me, or I will end you” vibe.
Kenny is tired, sad, and really regretful of the entire incident.
To be fair Kenny omega attacked him with 3 friends vs 1 person. The EVP’s are jealous sensitive cowards. Punk has the right to be fucking upset about that.
@@spookymiraclepreacher6037Dude, you chatted so much s**t. GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT. Prove it. Prove that the EVPs attacked CM Punk 3 on 1. PROVE IT. You chat so much s**t because everything you said didn't happened at all. Now tell me when I'm telling lies for I most certainly can tell when you are.
Sorry for lashing out but it's super dirty of people spreading bs about this because it makes their fee-fee feel better. People need to stick to facts and stop spreading rumours that not even CM PUNK communicated. Not even a news flash but it was CM PUNK that confirmed that he struck the ELITES first, and he tried to say it was because the elite kicked down his door, which he changed to they barged through the door, and then changed again to say they opened the doors aggressively and hit his dog. Sorry, to backtrack that many times is you (punk) losing the argument. Plus this so called attack was done in front of the head of legal and head of talent relations in the same room. You think the elite attack cm punk when they brought those two heads with them? Illogical, senseless and clearly not true. They came to talk for they were his bosses, not to fight.Tell me when I'm telling lies.
Don't spread lies and false narratives. Stick to the facts. Do not focus and hyperbole claims for claims are not facts. All CM Punk proven through this is he loves to hyperbole, turn baseless claims to facts, and he cannot move on as he spur crap again even after giving someone their receipt. Case in point, hangman page.
@@spookymiraclepreacher6037 the only problem with your story is kenny omega didnt attack anyone, he tryed to protect the dog and was attacked by acesteel tooth lol... thats the story that the cm punk camp told.
Nobody attacked anyone beside Punk suckerpunching, throwing chairs and Ace biting. Stop changing the story to make Punk look like he defended himself.
The Elite took Punks invantation to talk after he shit on aew and them publicly, bringing the vice President megha parekh with them.
You dort do that if you want to attack someone.
Kenny is the Adult in that group is the bucks who are the problem and act like victims. Feel bad for kenny because he gets drag into this because of "his buddies"
His run in June when he came back honestly is my favorite AEW run of his, it felt more raw, and I wished we seen the Real World title story play out with MJF
Tony's reason for firing punk just makes him look pathetic
Another fascinating thing that didn't make it into the documentary was when Hangman won his world title (before Punk), the crowd chanted "you deserve it" and he replied "no, I earned it". Which Punk then usurped for himself, at the same time proclaiming Max stealing his catch phrase. The lines of story and reality were never more blurred than this era. What a tragedy.
A treagedy ?????????????? No one died dude there is no tragedy, in fact it's a good thing that all this bs is over

I respect Kenny more because of the reported rumor that he was willing to squash the beef with Punk. That’s a mature decision.
Rumor is Bucks refused.

@@DWOLF777they fired their top draw “with cause”*
Punk has his fanbase, but he clearly wanted out by any means. It’s best for both parties if he’s out of AEW to explore other options. WWE would be the best case scenario, but I don’t know if Punk can swallow his pride to walk back some of his criticisms of WWE. He’d look like a hypocrite, on some level. And he clearly has some enemies there, to this day.
@AirshipOverWater he didn't want out. He was fired. With cause was mentioned because they didn't want there to be any confusion as to who was at fault for his firing.
And WWE doesn't want him.
Nobody with a brain wants him in their company. He creates a toxic workplace wherever he goes, be it WWE, ROH, or AEW. And he was never the top star in WWE during his time there; John Cena was, so it wasn't jealousy that people disliked him for. They don't hate Cena like they hated Punk, and Cena buried everyone. That's saying something
EDIT after WWE return: Actually, there are people without brains running WWE who thought bringing Punk back was a good idea... let's see if he can outlast this contract
Amen brother
Watching wrestling storylines like this is always the best can’t wait to see how you’re gonna do The Bloodline story
Very well done, very neutral documentary. It’s a shame it all ended like this. Personally, if some things are to be believed, Punk did try and work it out with the Elite and co, but they weren’t budging. I’m of the opinion that by the time he came back on Collision, he had wanted out of AEW (the visit to RAW backstage, making amends with some people before he was told he had to leave leads me to think this way). IMHO, there are people on the AEW roster who aren’t the most mature, and there is no structure in place to help them swim (or sink). Guys like Jack Perry and Adam Page fall into that category, though I feel if it wasn’t Jack Perry it would have been someone else that initiated Punk’s exit. He wanted out.
I was a very casual AEW fan until they brought back CM Punk. I started watching every week after that. My dog watched with me. If his behavior was any indication, he was a CM Punk mark; his ear would perk up when he heard “Cult of Personality” start, his little stubby tail would start going a mile a minute. He passed away from a very aggressive form of cancer the afternoon of September 2nd. A few hours later, Tony Khan made the announcement. It was just a bad day all around.
Hope you get a new dog and make him watch punk in wwe :)

It's disappointing how this all ended, at least we had the Punk vs MJF feud when we did cause Punk was a ticking time bomb, and not the good kind like Hiromu Takahashi.
The Eite really got y’all brainwashed and mind controlled huh 😂😂

I tried to get into the business years ago. (I have a different look being Chinese, Japanese and Hawaiian) UPW (Cena was the Prototype there) accepted me but the 9-11 tragedy stopped the move in 2001. Had a match with Yuji Nagata and another with Dragon Gate. Did a Chikara event with Generico, Fire Ant, Eddie Kingston and others. Teddy Hart moonsaulted on my head. Almost had a match with AJ Styles. My FCW tryout was with AJ Lee and Adam Rose. Did a promo in front of the legendary Dusty Rhodes. I had a smackdown tryout where I helped a run in with Matt Hardy. It was a short run but my regrets are not getting to meet and learn from all the greats. Thankfully I didn't get too hurt in those years.
And to everyone who is chasing their dream, don't give up. I hope you get farther than me.
Dude, I have a lot of respect for you making it as far as you did! Not many people would’ve been able to pull that off and you clearly had some talent to be given a match with Yuji Nagata of all people. He just never understood how anyone could ever have a worldview other than his, and historically, that makes for the worst type of coworker. And when you add that this is already a business known for big muscles and bigger egos, it was a recipe for disaster from the start. I liked him when I was younger, and I was excited to see him return. But it feels like I grew up, and he didn't. What a waste of a legacy.
Errrr he’s been working with children and frankly with years of experience you tend to listen and take in from those things and NOT act the age of your shoe size.
It’s AEW loss and frankly they need him
He doesn’t need them.
The young bucks are awful
@@spraymie Be that as it may, you don't get into physical fights backstage with your coworkers or threaten your boss, regardless of the drama. Punk fucked up at All In and got himself fired.
@@Ugh-Fudge_Bwana
And yet you have a grown man wanting to smash himself against glass and owners that let that fly among many other things 🤔
@spraymie perhaps, but looks like punk won't be wrestling anymore. No one us going to hire him, not with his attitude.
@@bousch8253
Attitude? You have watched the documentary yeah? Say what you like AEW will suffer massively without punk as he is a main star
The flip twins and KOM are zzzzz
Amazing video. You could’ve recycled a lot from your first video but you did it on punks second run. Too many CZcamsrs do this and I’m glad to see the integrity. Keep at it!
AEW is a prime example to why samoa joe was wasted potential in WWE, he rocked the mic like it was nothing, and had unyielding charisma in the ring. glad to see he finally gets the respect he deserves
I personally don't see anything special about him in the ring or on the mic.
@@themonsterunderyourbed9408 yeah he's that one samoan who doesn't belong to Anoai Family
Joe’s biggest issue isn’t any of that, it’s the fact that he’s injury prone and can’t stay healthy long enough to work a story arc. This has been his problem since his TNA days. They recognized it early . That’s why they kept him in short, ground based matches after he was injured in the X Division title matches.
@@latresegarner931 true this is pretty the reason why WWE had to let him go.
Ironic how AEW preaches about pro wrestling and yet losing their top guys as they go to WWE and make an incredible pro wrestling storytelling and make history there.
Kenny’s interview talking about the brawl out situation, shows you he really was the one trying to calm down the guys and stop the fight. It’s rough. Amazing quality hiseo

“CM Punk! CM Punk! CM Punk!”
-TK when Punk returns at the Rumble. 😂
The way this is edited makes me feel like this could be the greatest work of all time.
"Vince was right" the documentary
On the day Punk returned in 2021, I got bit by a brown recluse spider & ended up in the hospital for a week. On the day he came back the 2nd time, someone stole my identity & all of my money. I was afraid to see what would happen if it happened a third time.
HUH?!
My internet goes out constantly. But when it comes back, there's always a jewel of a video waiting. Your work is wonderful, and I hope more people have the opportunity to see your channel. :)
When one chapter ends another one begins 💯
Wanted Punk to return for yrs. But, didnt want to see it end this way. Sheds some light to the situation.
Truth of the matter is that people turned their back on CM Punk. They were behind him because of what he stood for and what he called out. Now they hate him because of what he stood for and called out. Look at Punk history from 2011 to now. Notice how he hasn't changed but the audience crapping on him did. I'm also noticing a pattern of media trying to crap on him at every opportunity.

This is extremely well put together. Thank you.
This video is incredible. Thank you for taking the time to do this for the community.
Amazing video. The amount of work to gather and edit the clips is enough alone. Excellent job!
This was amazing. The editing and everything. Thank you
Like I feel Jack Perry was sort of in the wrong like if he didn’t say what he said that’s real glass during that match the fight would have never happened most likely
As always, an amazing amazing documentary/video. You have to keep these coming for us please 🙏
Incroyable
I’m still shocked that AEW
and CM Punk didn’t work out.
Lol seriously? CM Punk has caused problems everywhere he goes.
@@hansjuker8296 Yeah…I know.

It wasn't the backstage incedent that made tony fire punk it was the fact that punk lunged for tony. Even then all he was ginna do was suspend him. An independent law team review the case abd footsge abd firced tonys hand
Good thing Tony Khan didn’t hit back or else AEW would soon be out of sponsorship deals and out of business.
Thanks Jungeboy! Very cool!
It's the sequel that I asked for but not the ending that I expected. A fine job done with putting this together nonetheless 👏
It's disappointing that we won't be seeing Punk anymore. Entertainment wise he's an absolute delight to have around, there's never a dull moment with him, and he really has one of the biggest personalities I've ever seen. But I mean, come on man. How in fucks name do you get in another physical altercation after the first blow up where the CEO had to create a completely separate show to accommodate you since more than half the roster doesn't want to work with you? Just blows my mind. I'll always be a fan of CM Punk and his edginess, but his glaring anger problems and mental health issues need to be addressed at this point. It almost seems like he's getting way more bitter with age.
+sailgoat4733
You took the words right out of my mouth.
It doesn’t for me. Punk is paranoid because he worked for HHH and Vinny K Mac JR. They did a lot of petty BS to screw him over. Punk thought TK was doing that to him at this major PPV.
He was already upset. Moreover, he was dealing with clear bias reporting because The Elite would talk to dirt sheets.
It makes total sense to me albeit it is still greatly disappointing. [>
@@kaineshigaraki5253but he’s 45 years old dude. There’s gotta be a time in your life where you stop having a chip on your shoulder or you’ll end up alone and bitter. With that said, this is all comes back to Tony not knowing how to run a wrestling company.
@@Thor-Orion AEW isn’t like WWE. AEW are in charge of transportation for their wrestlers, at least for big events. WWE aren’t.
Punk had nobody from AEW helping him get to the arena. He was lost. He called the number and it was the wrong number. Punk barely makes it in on time and sees another wrestler running his mouth.
Yes. Punk is the veteran and should’ve acted better, but I understand it. Punk was already upset (mind you that AEW personnel was a Young Bucks crony), Perry added more fuel to the fire.
Punk’s problem isn’t having a chip on his shoulder, it’s how he chooses to deal with it. Punk is candid and confrontational. That’s NOT a good business move. [>
Suggesting the aptly named Punk has a mental health issue is a disservice to people who lived through actual tragedy and suffering; soldiers unknowingly stepping in their friends head or children walking into a room with a suddenly dead parent or, say, someone with schizophrenia.
CM Punk just refuses to learn to grow up; unfair to one to compare to the other, is my long winded 2 cents.
It's been a great run for CM Punk, but if you constantly making problem in locker room, you are the main problem.. It does not matter where you are working whether its aew, wwe, njpw etc..
your assuming he was the one making all the problems. there is a lot of blame to go around for everyone involved
