    I love the G1 bundle, it’s gonna make it a lot easier to order a gyro without banging a head into a wall hoping everything will work. Great price, and great parts. Definitely gonna give the G1 a try on the next build. Thank you 🙏 for making mtb specific parts.

      24 Mtb you cannot find a mechanical mtb caliper that is high quality you can find one with those wallmart bikes but its better to use road or gravel calipers

    • @ObviousAlias
      @ObviousAlias Před 3 lety +2

      The reason is the amount of cable pull required for the caliper to engage the rotor is different between mtb and road systems. Road levers and BMX levers have roughly the same amount of cable pull and you see quite a few DJ bikes set up with BMX gyros and levers with road calipers.

    • @24mtb74
      @24mtb74 Před 3 lety

      @@ObviousAlias okay, I think they use bmx gyros because there wasn’t any mtb ones but I may be wrong

    • @ObviousAlias
      @ObviousAlias Před 3 lety +1

      @@24mtb74 - True, but mtb-specific gyros vs bmx-specific gyros is irrelevant - they are the same and the only difference between this gyro and an Odyssey or a Shadow Conspiracy or any of the others is that this one has a larger size available to account for larger diameter headtubes on mountain bikes (1 1/4" at the top is standard for mtb, 1" is standard for bmx)(side note - the Shadow Conspiracy gyro fits mtb 1 1/4" head tubes just fine)(side note #2 - bmx gyros are a fraction of the price; you can get the Shadow Conspiracy gyro, top cable, bottom cable, brake lever, and a TRP Spyre road caliper and rotor for less than the cost of just this Title gyro without the cables, lever, caliper, or rotor). But that has nothing to do with why the brake calipers need to be road calipers instead of mtb. Again, that is strictly a cable pull issue. Mtb brakes require more cable to pull to fully engage with the rotors than do road calipers, which are designed for a shorter amount of cable pull to engage fully. A gyro limits the amount of cable that can be pulled because you have the constraint of how far the gyro body can move from the top of the tabs (or tab plate for this gyro) to the top plate at the bottom of your stem. If you put mtb calipers, you won't stop (not well, at least). If you put road calipers, you will.

    • @ObviousAlias
      @ObviousAlias Před 3 lety +3

      The Trickstuff hydraulic gyro costs even more, and the seals have historically not held up well over time. I've also heard the Trickstuff feels mushy at the lever and isn't as smooth for spins as cable. I've heard a rumour that the newest generation solves those issues, but it was seemingly an extremely limited run so they are tough to come by.

    I have 17 mm of spacer length would that work?

    • @titlemtb
      @titlemtb  Před rokem

      The minimum requirement for additional steer tube length for proper gyro function is 20mm. 17mm of additional length will likely work, however, we cannot guarantee optimal performance at this length.
