    you are lucky to live in California, i hear the bird and animal and see alot of green, i miss Cali, i live in New Mexico now i planted a mango seed just for fun out here and she grew in to a little mango tree and now is only 4 inches and right now shes in my living room near the window, with also a 8 in papaya tree, i bought the papaya fruit at the store and threw the seed in my flower bed and she grew im hoping they grow to adult hood and fruit because in New Mexico the weather is to cold and these plants don't grow out here, keep making videos and educate the world with how to grow food because food is getting to experience to buy Thank you

      Hello Sam😃 yes California is nice, but expensive, especially now that there is not that much work available, Some times it feels like 2 jobs will be necessary. Growing trees, or plants were is too cold is challenging and yes sometimes is better to bring them inside the home. What ever we can grow we should grow it, because like you said, food is getting too expensive, that reminds me of eating out, wow those prices are still going up😔. Keep that mango tree, the papaya tree warm and happy👍 and thank you for your comment.

    I planted a mango tree from seed 3 yrs ago, in a pot indoors, it grew beautifully, it even started branching !! But some of its leaves started browning around the egdes and became dry...i repotted it into fresh soil and was shocked to see how long the roots were...its doing well in its bigger pot and fresh soil, how long will it take to really settle well and should i take off the browned leaves or leave them till they fall off by themselves,? its now almost a month after repotting.

    • @mybackyardfruits6299
      @mybackyardfruits6299  Před rokem +2

      Thank you balb 😃 yes pruning the roots is a good idea so the tree doesn't star to chook itself by the roots going around and around the bottom of the tree. It all depends on the size of the pot, how often to prune. This mango tree in the video has not been prune since i got it and it has been like about 4 or more years. When it fruits it only gives me about 1 to 3 mangos per year, it all depends on the area were the mango is, the climate has alot to do with it and the care that you give the tree. For me i am ok with at least 1 mango a year😁, is just that fresh cut mango feeling and taste that i really like alot. Now i think this specific type of tree can bear way more mangos per year, as long as the climate is closer to there native home. Thank you again for your comment and for watching my videos🤠

      Hi 👋 that mango tree is no longer with me, the winter of 2022 I didn’t brought it inside my garage like I did every year and the cold started to affect it and also I think that my soil had to many wood chips mix in with the soil and they were rotten and that probably started to produce root rot. I did try to save it by planting it on the ground, there is a video of me getting it out of the clay pot, but it didn’t make it. Right now I don’t have a mango tree on a pot and if I do it again I will be more careful this time. Thank you for your comment and for watching my videos and sorry for the late response to your comment 👍

      Your welcome xyossiy, i would recomend you store the mango inside your home in the winter and when spring comes if is not to cold take it out for full sun. Or wait for sumer. The key here is to move it, protect it when you know is going to be cold and take it out when is not cold. A joung mango tree starts to get damage when temperature gets below 30'f. This is why i also have my mango tree with wheels on a clay pot. Another one in a green house. Check out my other videos for more information. I think you can do it xyossiy👍 thanks again for your comment.

      Hello 😃 Orkids55, it's great that you got a mango tree and with tiny fruits, that's a great sign. Don't repot now, wait to see what happens, you might get mangos this year. if you repot, there is a chance the fruit might drop due to transplant shock. Repot after you get some fruits or if no fruits then repot. Always try to use clay pots for mangos, the roots stay healthy. My pot size is 15 and 1/2 inches, the inside width of my pot. The lenght is 16 1/2 inches tall. My tree is more than 2 1/2 years old. I hope this helps and thank you for watching my videos.😃

    My manila mango grown from seed keep stopping their growth after about 3-4 months. I've re-potted using 30% sand, 30% peat moss, 30% perlite, and 10% mix of compost, composted manure, worm casting, and myccorhiza. They're getting 6-8 hours of direct sunlight. It's seems to be at a complete halt, and can't produce leaves. Any tips?? These baby's look like they're dying.

    • @mybackyardfruits6299
      @mybackyardfruits6299  Před 2 lety +2

      Hello FOREVER AND A DAY😃 it seems to me that the problem is too much water in the soil, everything is holding to much water, and not good drainage, especially if they are in plastic pots and mango roots don't like to much water, they get root rot and stop growing. Is like our skin, we like to get wet, but if expose for a long time, water irritates the skin. Try cutting down on the water, only moist, not wet for now and monitor from the sun heat so they don't run out of water and if you can re-pot in clay pots for mangos, this helps keep the roots healthier, it helps drain extra water in soil. Let me know if this is the case 😃 and thank you for your comment and for watching my videos

      Humm🤔 interesting.lets try this out since there can be many reasons why this is going on. It sounds like not enough phosphorus in your soil. Is there grass around the tree? Grass stills nutrients from fruit trees. If there is grass, remove grass around the tree trunk about 2 ft around from trunk of tree. If you want to add phosphorus naturally, here is one way by getting raw fish, the head and tail only, and burried them about 1ft and a 1/2. No more than 2 feet because of the smell. Not to close to the tree and not to far from tree. You can get them sometimes free at your local supermarket if you ask for any raw fish scraps, head and tail only, or when you buy raw fish like catfish. Make sure no pets dig it out. If you don't want to do the fish thing, here is another option by buying this natural fertilizer, i have included the link for you. I hope this helps and thank you for watching my videos👍 feel free to ask me more questions any time and i will try my best to help you.
