    Oh NO!!! Hey I posted this video and was alerted to a word fumble so I took the video down, made the correction and reposted. Sorry about that. PLEASE: let me know what changes you would like to see.

      I believe you also confused the new Addmotor trike with the XP when you said you would like to see tail lights on the fenders instead of just reflectors. My wish list for changes is the same as yours. My top three would be better packaging, improved axle bearings and 20 mph top speed option. Going along with that is better gearing. It will be sometime in spring when I'm able to buy so I hope your hunch is right about an update.

      One option that I think would be very useful is an option to ship by freight where the box is strapped to a pallet. This way the box is protected from contact damage and keeps the box in an upright position throughout shipment. This is how Addmotor ships their trikes and their containers arrive in pristine condition. It could be an extra cost option for those who want it.

      I agree that palletizing the trikes is the best way ship these. It gives warehouse workers the option of using various lifting equipment (most heavy big boxes are put on a pallet at one or two points during the handling process anyway).
      All it takes is one disgruntled, careless freight employee to wreck a package, despite the best of attempts to protect against such.

    We’ve only had a small issue with shipping damage. Of course I had to straighten the fenders and one had a small dent. We did not bother replacing them. One wheel had a wobble. A local bike shop trued the wheel when we had a flat fixed. My wife who is over 70 and has several health issues has enjoyed riding the trike around 750 miles.
    Besides your suggestions, add a second rear brake (ours work well enough on hills) , but I’d feel better with an improvement. Mostly because it would help in an emergency stop. Add turn signals.
    In our opinion, it was a very good initial product. The shipping issue fix would help the most!

    Very confused about this. I bought one of these trikes in September and it came with hydraulic brakes which function quite well (especially if you wipe down the rotors to remove any oil residue as directed in the owner's manual), and full realr lighting including running/breaking lights on the fenders. Front suspension would be nice but the added width of hydraulic front forks would probably make folding the bike, which is already a challenging maneuver, virtually impossible; not to mention that added cost and weight. Most of the wish list you have here for improvements are things that would be nice to have and would result in a $2500+ trike (already available on the market if that's what you want), that would weight considerably more and most likely would not be foldable. Trikes are inherently unstable at higher speeds so making this into a 20mph+ vehicle would defeat the primary purpose of this particular trike; fun, light weight, easy to operate, reasonably safe for most operators, and easy to transport trike at a $1500 price point. I have a Haoqi Cheetah and it would be nice if it had a larger battery, better derailleur, and full suspension; that would make it a much better bike and, oh wait, I could have all that but I would have to spend another $600 on a different model. There are always things to find that would improve a product but then it is no longer the same product or the same price.

    The damage to the rear wheels and fenders and the excess oil around the brake pads are why I have not ordered one of these yet.

    • @terrysandiego
      @terrysandiego Před 9 měsíci

      Addendum: I took a chance and ordered one. It came without oily brakes and without damaged fenders. The box was violated over one wheel and the wheel rubber was exposed. I have not checked for wobble yet, but I think the wheel is okay. The bike is still in my living room while I attach the extras I ordered before taking it down to my garage in the apartment complex and setting it up to ride. Got my fingers crossed.

    Those fender lights, are both tail and brake lights! The center is a tail light too. Yours should have wires to them. Very nice and bright too. Yes the @$$/% axle bearings. One inner race cracked in two which let the ball bearings gouge a groove into the axle. I bought a bearing but it failed too, not long after doing so. It appears the axle shaft is slightly bent and stresses the bearing. He axle could be unbolted and repaired but there is reinforcement that prevents that unless cut through and rewelded or coupled somehow. I like my trike but that is the huge weakness and reason to not buy one until redesigned.

    Just bought and received the Lectric XP Trike. Exceptional for the price. I do agree there should be the option to increase the speed to 20mph. Even though once unlocked its supposed to go 14, this one is maxed out at 13.6. A little bit faster would be nice.

    Nice video, great suggestions.
    One you didn't mention that I think many users would appreciate would be gears. This would solve the ghost pedaling issue and IMHO be a better way of dealing with it than changing the crankset (which I did, and I am happy with). I think the Addmotor model needs gears too. Or at least both companies should add the option of ordering the trike with gears.
    I am now approaching 2000 miles on my XP Trike and am fully satisfied with it exactly as it is. I would not upgrade to their 2.0 version.
    I also want to mention that as far as top speed goes; most inexperienced users of ANY trike should limit their top speed to about 12mph. ALL these types of trikes regardless of brand are just not stable enough at higher speeds for novice riders to handle safely especially at speeds above 16mph.
    And you should fix the taillight comment which is incorrect.

    Got a 7 speed mooncool, non electric trike. Rode it for a couple months, just got a 500w bafang hub drive and 20ah battery.
    SHOCK AND AWE!!!
    Level1 =15mph, 2=21, 3=27..... 5=40MPH!!!

    Another thing came to mind. I have a bit of a steep driveway and some hills in the neighborhood. Both the Trike and my Lectric XP 3.0's have a 500 watt motor. The Trike definitely has more torque to handle the hills and is likely due to the gearing which limits the speed. In a way, the Trike is a mid-drive motor which could have gearing changes made.

    I would like to see more than a single speed. I only need 2 speeds, but a 3 or 5 speed would be nice. I have a lot of very long and steep hills and would love to upgrade to a trike that can get me up those hills.

    Dad always says... don't get the first year model of anything. LOL I want this trike... I am going to get it. For me, that 500W motor can NOT increase in size. All of Canada has a cap on a 500W motor before a ebike has to be insured and registered. Then you can't go on any bike paths here either. Speed limit is at 20Kms per hour on a bike path. That is 12.46MPH. That makes this trike perfection. I don't have one in my hands... I have not rode one... so my scope of feedback is limited to staying within restrictions.

    • @elliotflorida3469
      @elliotflorida3469 Před 9 měsíci +1

      I am glad I didn't wait. This trike is near perfect as is. I got my trike just after Memorial Day and now have almost 2000 trouble free miles on it. Really, really enjoying it!
      FWIW, although the motor is rated at 500W, it peaks at a higher wattage. Plenty of power when needed. The motor is fine as is. And the battery range is excellent as well, it does not need a larger capacity battery. And if 30-50 miles isn't enough range for someone, a 2nd battery can obviously be purchased and can easily be swapped out in a couple of minutes while out on a ride.

  • @gtwolfe100
    @gtwolfe100 Před 9 měsíci

    I am confused. I bought one of these for my wife which she will not get until Christmas. I disagree about the packing simply because I work in an industry where we receive and unpack between 400-1000 pieces of commercial office furniture every week and the rate of damage to very carefully packed furniture is a reflection of how rough the carriers are on the packages; not on the packing. I had to contact Lectric to replace all the fenders and one of the wheels (I did the repairs myself) on the bike, not because the packing was poor, but because of how hard the package was handled. A fully assembled trike is very vulnerable and the packing could not be improved except by using a hard crate instead of cartoning. Since this trike is very much about value for the dollar, adding $40 in crate charges and another $40 in shipping cost for a hard crate would drive up the cost. If they shipped mostly disassembled the rate of damage would drop considerably but the convenience factor of a fully assembled trike would be lost.
    I guess I lucked out because my trike already has the hydraulic brakes which are standard on the trike. If I'm not mistaken you acknowledged in a previous video that part of the reason you broke the brake lever was that you did not wipe down the rotors to remove any oil film when you got the trike; something the owner's manual says you need to do, and consequently did not have the breaking power you needed when trying to stop on a downhill. I definitely thought that hydraulic front forks would be nice but based on the forks on my two wheel ebike I also believe that the additional width of the front suspension would interfere with being able to fold the bike (which is pretty challenging as it is) as well as adding weight and cost to the trike. As far as the rear reflectors, just like the hydraulic brakes, the trike I received in the first week of September has full rear lighting including lights on the fenders being both running and brake lights. Overall, at the price point, I do not believe there is anything close to this trike on the market. There are definitely trikes with front suspensions, 7 speed derailleurs, and more pedal assist steps, as well as higher rated motors; but they cost twice as much and all use far less efficient front wheel hub motors instead of rear wheel drive. I agree that many changes and improvements could be made to this trike but the end result would be a much higher price and much higher weight essentially making it into just another of the $2500+ trikes that you can already but if that is what you actually want and need.

    Hello Richard, Enjoy all your reviews and was wondering if you had any info. regarding Evelo Compass E trike? They use a mid drive motor and belt drive and seem to have great reviews.

    • @EbikeReviews
      @EbikeReviews  Před 9 měsíci

      Hey John, I am not familiar with the Evelo. A quick look at the specs shows it has 105nm of torque which is very good. I would ask if you can customize the speed and sensitivity in the display. That muchtorque could make it a bit zippy if your not into that kind of thing. However, at that price it should have a much larger battery. Only 10ah is not much at all. Don't believe the range for a second. I would ask if the rear axle is differential, you need both wheels to spin independently. For me, this would be a hard pass for the price and battery. That my quick 2 cents.

      The rear rotor and brake is on the back axle and not really visible in this side view. The brakes are hydraulic and work great. The comment about the brake lever breaking is very rare. I'm a moderator on a FaceBook Lectric Trike group and we have not seen anyone else with that problem. There are thousands of people that had an intact trike arrive and have not had issues. This is per a poll on several groups on FB. Great trike and it is making changes in thousands of people's lives.

I remember your first video "Don't buy the Lectric", you encouraged another brand that was $2,000 +??? My wife and I have purchased 5 Lectric bikes since they first came out and love them. We were some of the first to order Trikes several hours BEFORE they were open for sale. We love them but your comments on the packaging were spot on. Three of the four rear wheels were wobbly and slightly bent. Three of the fenders were bent too. Lectric sent us new wheels and fenders quite quickly and the fix was no big deal. The lights ARE wired. We are old folks that have been riding together for 56 years and we have owned 28 bikes during that time and ten motorcycles and two airplanes. We are happy as clams riding these buggers together and, for us, they fit the bill perfectly. We think they are about the best for the money. We are delighted with them. You can't please everyone on everything. Go Lectric!

    I wish I didn't have to write this review. These bikes are junk in our view. I bought two of them in July of 2023, by October both bikes have a bad axle bearing on the rear. This is with only neighborhood rides and no speed above 2. total miles on one is 117 and on the other 102. this bearing is not repairable and Lectric e-bikes said to send them back for repair. We live over a thousand miles away. They refused any help with shop manuals or tech support, just send them back. We have the bikes in our garage if anyone wishes to verify. Sorry. Don and Jenny
