    Came in the mail today and the manual with it is meaningless. You just solved the rig for me.
    I was able to program it with my PC but then was - what the heck!!

      Yes manual can be a bit tricky. Once you get the hang of the radio. Basic functions that we use. It becomes second nature. Thanks for watching and sharing. 73.

    Flipping the display upside down would allow for the speaker to face up. Thanks for the video.

    Upside down configuration so you can have a clear opening of the speaker depending on how you mount it. Question, can you have a channel name rather then the freq displayed?

    • @mikecricket113
      @mikecricket113  Před 11 měsíci

      Yes you can have the name. I just prefer frequency than name.

    I've got one of these radios and have always had good on-the-air reports. It's a pretty good base unit, but leaves quite a bit to be desired for mobile use as almost every option is only available through the menu system. That's not good when you need to keep your eyes on the road.

      I beg the differ. Only because if you have it programmed to your local repeaters. It should be easy enough to navigate. I can see if you are out of area then it may be an issue manually programming a repeater. But if that is the case you should be stationary doing that anyway. But if you want to spend about $180 bucks more some of the Kenwoods and icons will promptly set your radio to the nearest repeater automatically with help of the gps/aprs system which it uses. I primarily stay local and have programmed in repeaters for Three states that I normally visit. So that is not an issue for me. Plus I have been using this radio for 2.5 years so familiar with it. I like the price point of the radio. It has stayed consistent with what I paid for it before. Yes audio reports a great. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.

    • @mikecricket113
      @mikecricket113  Před 6 měsíci

      Yes they do. But on a winter day that’s a good thing. Lol. But honestly during summer temps with it in the mobile. I haven’t had any issues so far.

    Have “you” tested the power output of this unit ? Not with the box says, but actually tested.

    • @mikecricket113
      @mikecricket113  Před 7 měsíci +2

      Varies. On 2 meter high power was around 23 watts. On 70 cm was about 21. I tested it years ago.
      Coax jumper was RG8X at 3 feet. So the loss might have been marginal. But not at all to much of a factor. It’s a Chinese rig. So not completely up to spec as a Japanese company/ manufacturer. But either way for what I use it for it’s budget friendly and works well and as should. My repeaters are within 15 miles. So less than 25 watts even by a smidge does not matter. Even with db measuring the difference in db from 21 - 25 watts is unmeasurable.
      Hope this helps

    Can this radio be plugged into the vehicle cigarette outlet?

    • @mikecricket113
      @mikecricket113  Před 7 měsíci

      Yes Sir that’s how mine is. But make sure the aux plug is at least 15-20 amps. Mine is plugged in a aux that is rated for 20 amps. Some cars only have the cig lighter that is only 10 amp and the wire gauge is smaller. The radio keys at 25 watts at 9 amps.

    I just bought one of these Anytone AT-778UV and I cannot get in to VFO properly. If I hit either the A/B or V/M button it jacks up the radio, only shows 2 of my memory channels and I have to power it off and back on to fix. It I reset the freq. range, I get ERROR in red when I select v/m. Any help would be great.

    • @mikecricket113
      @mikecricket113  Před 4 měsíci +1

      What does Manual say?
      Have you read it.
      If you are in memory mode and if you press the v/m button once and you will be in vfo mode. Then you can use the buttons on the microphone to type in your frequency you were trying to get to.

    How should I have my squelch set on my Randy 2? Hi or Low? 🤔❔

    • @mikecricket113
      @mikecricket113  Před rokem +2

      It depends I would set it to low if you are receiving signals that are far away. Or you could leave it off in that respect or you could set it to high if you are talking to somebody in Close proximity. I hope that helps you and 73.
