Special Fountain Pens - ASMR

  • Relax as I show you three special fountain pens from my humble collection.
    00:00:52
    The first fountain pen is a Lamy Al-star. The color of this aluminum pen is “Ocean Blue” I believe. A relatively inexpensive fountain pen, the Lamy Al-star has been a favorite writer of mine since I purchased it, and sometimes I have to force myself to take it out of my pen rotation so that I can use some of my other pens.
    7:00
    The second pen in this video is my Montblanc Boheme that my wife gave to me as a father’s day gift. This pen is the most expensive fountain pen in my collection and as you will see in the video, the pen is quite unique in its own mechanical way.
    29:41
    The third pen is my most cherished fountain pen and I’ll tell you why in the video. It’s not much to look at, and most fountain pen collectors would probably pass on the opportunity to purchase one even if it were dirt-cheap, which by the way, it was back in the 1930’s, which I assume was the decade this pen was produced. I would welcome any information from knowledgeable pen collectors as to the exact time period of this pen.
    Also, this video demonstrates my next step at improving audio quality. Though it is still not where I want to be, it is closer than I’ve ever been, and will continue to improve as I learn my way around the confusing world of audio and video editing.
    Please visit my Patreon page linked below and see how you can play an active role in the success and future of my channel. In this video I make mention of a fountain pen I’ll be giving away to a lucky patron. The limited edition pen has pen ordered and I can’t wait to see it. If the random drawing from the Patreon hat and shipping goes without a hitch, I hope to do giveaways on a regular basis as a way to thank those that are helping me along in this CZcams video adventure.

    A little about what it is I’m doing in my videos:
    Why am I whispering or talking in a soft tone? Because this video, is an ASMR relaxation video. What is ASMR? You can see for yourself by visiting the link at the very bottom of this page and reading about ASMR for yourself.
    The videos on my You Tube channel portray some of the typical day-to-day things that I do for relaxation, as well my never ending chores. This video was produced with relaxation in mind and hopefully has some ASMR qualities. Stress is harmful to your well-being and in today's fast-passed world, stress management is more important than ever, and so I hope this ASMR video in some way acts as a stress-reliever for those watching, as well as a sleep-aid for anyone having a difficult time going to sleep.

    Never thought it would happen, but by watching all of your pen videos you have given me a deep interest in Pens. I have been inspired to actually go out, buy a fountain pen and start improving my penmanship. I now take a great interest in pens, and despite being 16 use a fountain pen every day in school. Thankyou for helping me find this interest! :)

    Everyone, sorry about the audio. This was my first real attempt using software to remove background noise. Before I posted this video, my audio expert in Australia flat out told me it wasn't quite right but I already knew it (I'm my own worst critic sometimes) and will be working even harder to improve the sound quality in future videos. I think I'm on the right track.

    • @Leebabins
      @Leebabins Před 9 lety +5

      Using noise removal for background noise is never recommended. It adds that washy/phase sound and really ruins a quality audio recording. Room tone is much preferred.

      Background noise makes videos more relaxing I think. Because its like a kind of white noise that makes a nice base for all the sounds on top. I loved this video. That Mont Blanc pen is incredible. could you do a video of you dismantling it completely and re-assembling it? or is that not possible>

    I was a bit shocked at the $600 pen price... until I began to mull over some of my own hobby purchases... and that is a mighty nice pen. I really like the rear-gate action... I'm a sucker for fine mechanisms like that.
    Nothing comes close to writing with your father's boyhood pen though... that was a great share... and I'm glad it turned ended up writing so well.

    You should defiantly put a new sac in that little old pen! It's stunning! Sacs are very easy too put in pens, it's ares easy as using shellac and gluing it to the end of the grip section bit, then putting some french chalk on it. It would only coast around 30 dollars :) great video. THANKS!

    An idea for drawing out of the hat, you could use initials of your patrons? That way, they keep their privacy, but get to see if they've won or not. Either way, I think it's a great idea, and can't wait to see another pen review video!

  • @renovatiovr
    @renovatiovr Před 9 lety

    Despite looking really nice and having a price of 600 bucks along with the sick opening mechanism I didnt like the inconsistent ink distrubution and it felt like it was not touch sensitive which was very well seen when you were writing the word "away" - writing the first letter the pen lacks the required ink pressure to provide the clear writing along with the grip and paper touch feeling making it somewhat unreliable

    • @renovatiovr
      @renovatiovr Před 9 lety

      And this problem has 2 edges on a lot of pens. Some give too much ink making it feel like it leaks, others like this one - dont provide enough. It is really a challenge to find that very very one. In the end the purpose of the pen is to write as clear as possible, so 600$ should first go into the writing mechanism and not the opening system.
