When I was in college, a close friend introduced me to this song and I loved it from the moment I pressed play. He has since passed away at the age of 27. This reminds me of simpler, better times. When I had fewer worries, fears and responsibilities. I find myself coming back to this every now and again, just for a short trip back to previous times. RIP Stevie, you're missed bud!

i havent heard this song since i 1st heard it back in like 2011/2012, and havent heard it since stubbling upon it tonight in 2024... ive watched and listened to videos and music uploaded on YT that says "5 years...8 years....10 years...12 years...15 years ago" and ill see that and think "oh neat" or "oh wasnt that a great time!" and not FULLY and TRUELY REALIZE JUST how LONG 15 years or more has ACTUALLY BEEN, just HOW OLD i ACTUALLY WAS back then, how much energy i had, how much spunk and vigor i had, how much hope i had for the future, how much ambition i had, how easy it was to date and meet girls back then, how in shape i was, how confident i was, and compared to now, just how much happier i was. Compared to now...after the world dealt with a pandemic, extreme censorship from the left wing over anything you say or do, constant protests, constant rallies, over things that usually dont matter much, or only matter until the sheep find something new to get mad at so they can find meaning in their lives for 5 more minutes... constant lying or covering up or plain stupidity from our governments..even more than usual to the point where you cant trust absolutely nothing anyone says anymore... the EXTREME inflation, that may be real or artificial to help end the existence of a middle class... etc etc etc, in 2024 life is nothing but constant drip feeds of fear mongering, and stress, and anxiety, and loneliness, and lovelessness...and the slow transformation of a society with fewer and fewer freedoms and rights, where the only existence we serve is to work pointless jobs to make more money for someone else... there's no families anymore, no neighborhoods anymore, no happieness or sense of "chill go with the flow, enjoy life, smell the roses vibes" of yesteryear... theres no hope, no future, no reason to do anything, ppl dont hangout much anymore, ppl dont date much anymore, hell even hooking up is becoming concentrated to a select few high %...
so i guess the point of all this, is that i didnt TRUELY grasp JUST how LONG time has been passed since re-finding this song and others like it and listening to it, some of these songs just have a way of making you feel a certian way when you listen and re-listening to this song 15 yrs later makes me feel sad, full of sorrow, anxious, and almost panicked because i feel like time is slipping and slipping and i feel like its running out so quickly, because it feels like only yesterday i was 19 yrs old and listening to this song, just stepping out into the world as a young adult with new found freedom, and the energy to party, work out, fuck, and enjoy life for hours and hours and hours and be able to do it all again the next day without a sweat, and not too much worry about the immediate future, which now in 2024 is all i feel, hopelessness mixed with worry about the future..
but theres also something about this song as well that makes all these negative feelings and emotions and bittersweet memories more bearable and able to stand while listening and still somehow enjoy this song after all the awful feelings it makes me feel now in 2024..
