Grant Williams is a perfect fit for the Mavs and is contributing to their success. Last year, the Mavs needed 3&d players and a big. Now they got that with Williams and Lively
I think they are still one 3 and D guy away. They need one guy who is all nba defense caliber on the wing that can knock down open threes. Grant is a good defender and can handle some bigger bodies, but he can't be your best defender. An OG trade would go far.

Mavs fan. This lot are back peddling / finding excuses every week! The Mavs haven't played anyone yet / it's all Luka / they are defo still a play-in team (8th seed) / the roster is full of scrubs who only fit with Luka. The facts are the Mavericks are 6-2 (second in the Western Conference) and if you actually watch the team Kyrie and Luka play really well together, and Dereck Lively (rookie center) has been a defensive anchor (much more than just a lob threat).

As a Kings fan, I'm just happy that our team is finally fun to watch. With the San Jose Sharks being one of the all-time worst teams in NHL history, I'm just happy that I can watch Sacramento Kings games and know I will be entertained whether they win or lose.

As far as revisiting the Hsliburton trade. Sabonis and Fox were both All NBA. Fox won the clutch player of the year. Sabonis Is now a three time all star and is only 27. Why wouldn't Fox be a legitimate MVP candidate for years to come?

@@aron.gortman 4/16 this season, 40% from the field (31.9% from 3, an average +/- of -4.5 eww) when he came back last season . He was a great shooter and defender... key word being was. As a Kings fan, you guys are dead on, Sabonis is nowhere near what Halliburton is and never will be.
Haliburton is sick, but he doesn't look like this on the Kings. It's like Westbrook/Harden again. I don't think they can really regret it THAT much. If you told the Kings the trade would get them any success in the playoffs I'm sure they'd take it again.

You can't win a ring with Luka. His body language when he doesn't have the ball or doesn't get a call is the worst I have ever seen. Doesn't even attempt to get back on transition, and the team seems to be better when Kyrie runs the offense.

Can someone please tell me why Haliburton is held in such high regard? For a guard with average shooting and athleticism, him being in an MVP conversation just aint happening. MVPs are either dominant bigs or 2 way elite small forwards. For a guard to win it, he either has to be a freak athlete like Rus and DRose were, or an otherwordly shooter and handler like steph. Haliburton just aint it guys. Extremely overhyped

It would be a tough game... Wolves are great defensively, but Dallas is just as great offensively. In a series format I think Dallas would prevail, because I don't think Minnesota could score enough to keep up with the Mavs in 4 out of 7 games.

Kyrie 2nd season in Boston was normal they had chemistry issues because young players wanted bigger roles. Kyrie 2nd season in BK he took 2 games off during protest they act like he killed someone.,The bubble season players literally boycott a g playoff game for the same exact shit. That season Kyrie was 90/50/40 was up 2-0 in 2nd. rounds bucks until Giannis hit kyrie with a dirty move. Lets not forget they walked over Boston that year without Harden. Kyrie Had 1 actual odd year was during the Pandemic when the players voted on No mandat, the team suspended kyrie for away games then he got begged to come back at the end of the season. To expect anyone too have that ability join a team end season and be ready is crazy Jordan tried that it didn't work. The team should never had suspended him and he probably would have been ready by the time mandate ended. Kyrie last season with the nets they only went on. 18-2 run before Kd was hurt and90/50/40 again with the mavs. They Hate Kyrie because Celtics fans are bitter they know Kyrie should have won with them. The reason they didn't win is something Celtic fans dont want to admit. 1- Danny Ainge was cheap and didn't pull the trigger on AD deal. 2-Kyrie 1st year the young player bought in to follow Kyrie 3. When the team went to ecf they overvalued the success. That was Lebron worst team and Lebron also went 7 games vs Indiana. Cavs were also the only team in play-offs that did not beat Gsw 1 game= over hyped win because media said lebron was better then ever when a prime lebron would never go 7 games vs oladipo or rookie Tatum. 3- Celtics had too many players playing 1,2,3 making players dislike the situation not wanting to accept a role. JB, Smart, Terry, Morris,Hayword were all competing for time the Celtics should have traded 3 of these guys instead you had players bitter because they overvalued the ecf. they wanted minutes and contract and they could not do that if kyrie, Hayward, Tatum are guaranteed playing. They all felt like they were better then Gordon. SO when Jb would get on the floor they needed him to be a defender and make passes but Jb doesn't pass and would try to score. Till this Day Celtics have a Pg problem. So yes they have made it to finals and Ecf but they all know had they bought in with Kyrie they would have won. But they want to blame kyrie for leaving. They should blame coaching + management for not being able to fix the issues. Had they made the correct choices Kd + Kyrie could have came. They took a route to blame Kyrie but they dont exactly know what to blame him for so they just say he cant win even though he already won. That team was dysfunctional because of poor management.

Irving- ball handler and poor defender, a star without place and fit

@rofermarca Luka doesn't need a super team, or even a perfect fitting team... The roster shouldn't be as competitive as they will be, but that's Luka elevating the level of his teammates (similar like Jokic does). The explosiveness of Kyrie and Luka will be a force in a playoff series. If Hardaway and/or Williams also get hot then it's over... I think the Nuggets are the best team, but I still think it's *possible* for Dallas to win any series. The games slow down in the Playoffs, and the Mavs are great at playing slow and in the half-court.
Like I said Mavs shooting is really good... So far this season they attempt a higher percentage of Three-Pointers than any other team, and they lead the NBA in Three-Pointers made, and in 3PT% as they're shooting 40% as a team from 3PT.

@rofermarca I do agree that the Mavs have fumbled the roster around Luka in previous seasons. And realistically they don't have all the pieces they'll need, but they did acquire some players in the off-season that could be foundational, such as Williams, Lively, and possibly Omax. Hardy is also steadily improving. As for this year, their offense is really good, and that offense combined with Luka's magic factor will give them a punchers chance to go really far.

that being said. steph has played less than 31k reg season minutes. that's about the number of minutes cp3 had played by the end of the 17-18 season. cp3 had 3 more all-nba seasons after that. my disagreement with the take is that steph and lebron are apples and oranges. steph simply hasn't played enough to be in those conversations yet. in terms of games played, he's not in uncharted territory the way lebron is, so comparing the two is ludicrous. lebron hadn't even left miami yet when he was at steph's current minute total!

Curry’s been a top 5 player in the league for close to a decade as a one-sided player.
Luka's team was the 8th ranked defense in 2021-22, so it's definitely possible to have a good defense with Luka out there. And offensively Luka is maybe the best in the league, if not Jokic.
