Video includes images from outside and inside the now closed hospital on Bull St. The infamously named "Bull Street" mental hospital centrally located in Columbia SC has been closed and vacant for years. Standing beautifully erected amid the hustle and bustle of the capital, it has an amazing story of rich history. Once located outside of the Columbia city limits, later in years as our capital grew it became part of the city. Once used in the civil war as a camp for soldiers and families after Sherman burnt the city. Through out the years with politics, the outlook on mental health and struggling finical issues has forced the doors closed. I found it surreal that even today the outcast of society still live there. It was apparent that homeless people still seek shelter in the massive beautifully designed building. The hospital today is for sale and a proposed site for a shopping village with town homes and boutiques.
