Tip: when sewing start from the INSIDE so you dont have to see the knot at the end and end it inside aswell
i gotta hand it to u, sewing class in school and millions of tutorials never helped me sew but I can sew now
I love to hide my magic beans in my secret pockets.
WOW this was on hell of a vest tutorial you ever had made. Keep punk DIY going reptil!!
Quick spike tip, if you get finishing washers (they look like half a bagel) these are amazing for making spikes stand up without having a lot of corners that shred your clothes, I've used them on 1" and 1/2" tree spikes and those weird chunky 5/8" cone spikes, you can get a big box of them at home depot for like $4
Thanks for the info!
You can also get them for free if you're slick enough
Cool tip!
I continuously watch 5 videos of u r
Thank you for watching 🦖
Also fuck yes on the dental floss. Something most people don't know is that synthetic sinew is just dental floss with a brown coating. I use floss for all the sewing that I need to be super strong
Hot gluing your buttons is so smart, i wish I would have done this when I started my first jacket.
Keeper backs for enamel pins. For badges I'll either sew through the loop part of the safety pin back or use a safety pin through the loop from the inside of the vest.
Nice shout out to Chris.
Thank you SO MUCH for the tip about putting something in the pockets and sewing around it. I love studs and spikes, and I think I'm going to love all of your videos.
so glad i found this video. currently making a vest and i was having trouble with studs and spikes, the lining with the bandanas is genius.
Stoked to help 🦖
7:14 I think it’s called a whip stitch btw
After an initial line of stictching for placement (I think it’s a running stitch?) I always do a whip stitch on the border to really secure things down for patches (thoigh the initial line depends on size tbh)
this is v swag, I started on my jacket about a year and a half ago just going at it so it's pretty messy but I don't care cause it like a mosaic of who I am which is what I've always thought these jackets are about tbh
heres a fun maybe a bit unconventional but if you know how to crochet you can make the logo of your favorite band in filet crochet and then sew it on as the large back patch. in my experience 1-1.5 mm hooks and white thread looked nice when i tried it but maybe thats bcs all my patches are black and white
Hey thank you for the information! I see people make their own embroidery patches and always wanted to learn
You should try to use ice cubes when rubbing shoe goo in it rubs it in smoothly
Wooo I needed a safe place for my beans 😂
Everything is free at the dolar store if you don't get caught but soetimes if you go with a mask and a gun you can get free stuff as well
High quality video 👏👏
Never thought of washers for the spikes, thats a great idea
Thanks homie
Damn. Seriously debating adding studs like that to the one I’m making now. Great video!
🤘
Great tutorial I’m currently working on a new vest so this will be super helpful!
Def shoot some pics 🦖

Damn, yer sewing is so structured! Mine is messy as 💩 but it gets the job done so...is what it is.🤷♂️ Yea man, dental floss is key. I only use thread when I run out of floss and when I do I double up with a second round of thread since it's weak.
22:27 some very wise words
Thank you for sharing your creative talent and work flow.
thank you so much! Really helped.
Dude I love this guy he likes to burn shit

Awesome dude! I know how to make vests but its been 2 years since i made one but this helped me get it all over again.

this video is actually pretty good
Another sweet video man! Thanks!
DIY tattoo / piercing could be a good vid. Save the kids from blood poisoning or having an ear or nose fall off. Thread and needle poke bonanza! haha
It would be a cool concept but I think I will leave those topics to people with more experience in those fields.
wait you're goated
Using this for a spiderpunk jacket! Not very punk to buy it from hot topic
BRILLIANT

definetly will be doing the fake pocket
I've watched a few of your vids now and I dig it, I like your presentation and your info is gold dude. Never tried studs but I'm there and been researching them, at first I thought I had to get one of those bloody die press machines and get studs with posts, until I saw in your vids on studding and using the tab style studs. Have a denim vest and leather jacket to create so, thanks for the rad clips man, instant sub. \m/
Hey I'm stoked I could help! Studding is stupid easy. I'd be stoked to see your projects!

very very helpful. thank you reptil😅
Two things that this video taught me that helped me were the sewing method and the edge folding on the patch
making first vest. Reptil. I watched like all your vids bro. Real DIY shit. Real punk shit.
Stoked I could help 🦖
I got some zippers to have removable sleeves....oh nevermind; you.mentioned that as I was typing that. 😂
Can you make a video tutorial on how to wear multiple belts, the best way to wear multiple belts combinations of studded belt along with bondage belts
Definitely a good question. I typically only wear my studded belt and a bondage or a bullet belt layered over it. I wear my studded belt in my belt loops. With the bondage belt I catch the end through a single belt loop so it does not fall down/fall off. With the bullet belt I just keep a few bullet tips caught in a pocket so it doesn't fall off.
I typically do not wear more than two belts but I know some punks go all out with three plus.
I will look into making a short video in the future!
Hey reptil I have a jacket that I want to add zippers to make the sleeves detachable. Would love a tutorial for that 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
A thimble is a bit quicker than using players
You remind me of tre cool
Thanks to you, my beans will be safe from natural disasters from now on

Make a studded fanny pack. Very thrash
thanks man! sick channel. sub!
Damn I have the the same inepsy backpack on my jacket🔥🔥
Love them 🦖
Great video brother! You got any good techniques on painting boots? I gotta paint my old oxbloods black for work 😞
Thanks! I actually was going to do a video on painting boots. Personally I would keep the oxbloods and just buy work boots.
But in the past I have lightly scuffed leather boots with fine grit sand paper, lightly rub down with rubbing alcohol. Then apply 2-3 layers of acrylic paint( you can try spray paint but I havnt). Then a solid coating of clear coat in a spray can.
I actually turned a pair of boots into ruboff neon green and black this way and the paint lasted a few years I was very surprised!
Hey man can you do a tutorial on studding over pockets
You can put an object inside the pocket to keep it open. Then you only stud through the first layer of fabric and close the stud prongs with a pair of needle nose pliers inside the pocket as to avoid studding it shut. 🦖🦖🦖
i got a vest as a gift that already came with spikes on it, i want to remove some of them to put on different spots, does anyone have any tips to remove these??
they're the types that are screwed on and i think they might be glued on(?) or just really screwed.
You can send me pic of them over Instagram @kodiya reptil and I can let you know what I would do
You ever use rhinestones I had a design idea but I'm looking for a punch or a hack for rinestoning
Sadly I have no advice. I personally never have used them.. maybe check out some western artists I'm sure they know how to work with rhinestones
Coming back to this video after a while. Would super glue work as an alternative for shoe glue or is shoe glue the best thing to go with?
I would not use super glue it dries on really hard. Shoe glue kind of has a rubber feel to it so it flexes
3:25 I will always stick by my obsessive need to save EVERY piece of fabric. I still have the feet I cut off my Nightcrawler body suit. Somewhere in all my things is like a million pant legs cuz I used to just cut the legs off once my thighs ripped through them. I got a pair of good denim cut offs from my moms ex and they don’t fit anyone so they’re a good source of denim for me. Never know when you’ll need fabric lol
I just started a vest project, my first one.
I have spent so much on patches it's obscene, once it's complete there will barely be any visible leather.
Question: is there a way to cut inside the seam on the sleeves and still keep the vest from falling apart. I'm a smaller person, and even most size small jackets are too big in the shoulders so they end up looking kind of awkward if I don't shorten them somehow
Yeah you can do that. I'd recommend sewing a new seam with a sewing machine though, or else you run the risk of the best fraying and falling apart.
Have you tried fabric glue instead of the shoes goo ?
That should work also
Which studs did you blast this one with tho? The cone or the English tall?
Both standard 1/2" cone studs and 1/2" English tall 77 studs
i mightve asked this before, but how many studs do you think it would take to dense stud out the back of a large leather jacket? i have a backpatch on it too
500-700. Personally I'd buy a thousand just to have extra
@@reptil_diy thank you brother much love
Hiya, quick question sorry if I missed it during the video, how many studs do you think you used total?
Hmm I believe this vest was 1000 tall uk 77 studs and 500-800 1/2" standard cone studs
Fucking fantastic tutorial.
How do you wash it though? I have a huge thing regarding bacteria and germs(no idea why), so how would I wash it to not damage it?
You can hand wash denim vests and jackets in the tub with laundry soap and let it air dry. You could even run it in the wash on delicate setting and cool water, just make sure all of your patches are properly sewn on. I let mine air dry instead of using a dryer
does it matter if its cotton or polyester? will either shrink from sweat n drying? concern is shrinking and coming up
I only work on denim or leather jackets.
I've never heard of anyone using a polyester jacket as a base. I've never had any issues with shrinking 🦖
Fuck man. How have I never seen your channel before? I'm working on a metal kutte and this is a perfect video! Well except for mine is leather, so it's gonna be a bit harder lol
Stoked you found it.
Most people paint logos onto leather( I have an older video set that's not too great)
but If you're planning on sewing patches onto a leather kutte I would advise using a sewing machine with a leather needle. You can also hand sew with a leather needle and needle nose pliers as well but it's a pain. Alternatively some dry cleaning/embroidery shops will sew patches onto leather kuttes professionally, I know alot of bikers do this with their kuttes.
For leather sewing, you can put on some rubber gloves! Sewed this way and it was really good. No pain, no poking in fingers, no sweaty fingers. I do this for years now with large backpatches and it works wonders.
How long did this take you? abouts?
I pumped this out in around 3-4 weeks but definitely take your time if you are doing your first one. The more time you spend on them the more character they have. I more or less did this as a basic introduction/demonstration
what type of studs are those man ? i’ve been trying to find studs like those.
This vest has English tall 77 cone studs and 1/2" standard cone studs. Check out studsandspikes.com
Do you have any problems with your spikes coming out ever?
Studs or spikes? The liner I put in the vest in this video does a great job at securing studs.
The lock-tite compound I talk about in the spike section of the video does a great job at securing screw back style spikes. I highly recommend both methods, there is time stamps in the video description
Whats the song you use in your intro?
Krum Bums in sickness we prevail
@@reptil_diy Thanks mate
Do you have a trick to keep studs and spikes from not rusting by chance
Great question, I actually do not. I live in the desert and always had minimal rust issues
@@reptil_diy I do too but I’m the past I’ve had issues with it happing from when it does rain like twice a year or spilling shit in them. I was thinking about spraying them with wd40 and letting them dry but fuck it lol. I’ll deal
@@alexjulian222 that is actually a good idea. I would do it before you stud though and maybe use clear coat so it only needs applied once. You can poke studs into Styrofoam to hold them while applying spray paint/clear coat.
@@reptil_diy you’re one hundred percent the coolest CZcamsr. Not only with passing on knowledgeable shit but actually replying to people’s comments. I barely keep up with the people I subscribe too but I’m definitely looking forward for too your next one man
@@alexjulian222 thank you, next video should be dropping within two weeks 👈🦖👈
Can I get all this stuff on Amazon ?
I get my studs or spikes from studsandspikes.com, Amazon sells crap quality studs for outrageous markups, I would not recommend them or AliExpress.
I handmake my patches(check the link in the description) but you can Google search patches of bands you like, or buy them at shows. Same goes for buttons.
There are also a lot of online punk and metal distros/shops depending on your genre preference. Etsy occasionally has good merch stores depending on what kind of band you're looking for. Merch is pretty readily available for both punk and metal.
Technically you could order a denim jacket on Amazon but I get mine at thrift stores or department stores for cheap.
How many studs did this one take
I believe I bought 1500 for this one.
Where can I get black dental floss? lol... Anyways, doing my first vest at the moment. Thank you for all this information!
I would use black waxed thread, it will work the same as they do not make black floss.
They do make black dental floss! Hello brand.
"this a basic one" shiii what's a not basic one hahaha 🤣 that looked heavy duty
I can’t use spikes because I’m a student so what can I do
Use studs, not many punks use spikes anyway
@@reptil_diy I meant studs sorry but o still can’t because my schools code sucks
@@Rotting_bones ah gotcha, id make a Jacket to wear outside of school and one to wear in school?
@@reptil_diy noooo I can’t do thatttt
Shit my two vest studwork is shit ...does not look like that I feel like I should make a new one
The bean part made me crack up lol. When it comes from taking stuff frome stores how often do people get caght and when they do how often do the employees care to stop people from stealing? I'll probly stick to bying since I have fear of getting in trubal and I'm a littal pussy when it comes to some thing's 😂.
Damn... all my prongs go in different directions... I thought I was doing something bc I didn't want to weaken the fabric between the prongs 😬
Oh well, it's not that bad haha
I just find it's harder to line them up in straight rows and interlock them, especially with dense pattern stuffing, when the prongs aren't in a row. By all means do what you do though
@@reptil_diy that makes sense, maybe I have the fact that I'm an artist to thank for it turning out ok haha
I'm trying it your way next time!
