I’m so glad they got better. My cat has chronic kidney disease from Hartz flea spot. We applied it and he had seizures within an hour. His kidneys failed that day. He survived, but has been sick his whole life. He has to take subcutaneous fluids, 5 daily medications, supplements, and prescription food. Many couldn’t afford to keep their pet alive, if this happened. I do it, to my detriment, but I’m lucky to have the option. AVIOD HARTZ FLEA SPOT! They have not changed the formula at all.

I never bought crap from China again. Hard to do back in 2015 -16 when almost EVERYTHING was made in China for some odd reason. Question is why was food brought in for us consumers to feed our animals to begin with?? China is literally disgusting for doing this! Our Lhasa Apso, Lacy Mae, was a "middle aged", healthy dog who moved with us from Alaska to Arizona the end of 2012. We were gifted chicken jerky treats by someone who was given them and didn't even own a dog. They were in a bulk bag, no label. Shortly after Lacy Mae began enjoying the treats she began having profuse and bloody diarrhea. We packed her off to the vet who diagnosed salmonella poisoning! Luckily she pulled through with full time nursing care in our home that required isolation practices to protect my husband, myself, and our parrot from infection. Thank God for my nurse's training many years ago. I never saw a label but saw products like those treats on the shelves and began scrutinizing labels.
Twenty years ago we bought a Christmas stocking full of doggy chew treats from a warehouse store and our standard poodle Trina suffered lacerations to her digestive track from minute shards of plastic hidden in the chew sticks. Trina healed over time, but it was traumatizing for our daughter - our whole family. We no longer buy ANY pet products made outside the US. When the labels aren't clear we call the company and find out where it is made.

I feel the pain of these pets owners... Several years ago, my cat got very sick & died over just a few days time. His kidneys failed, & that was it. The worst part is it was over a holiday weekend & our local vet was closed. My Jack hung in there through the weekend, but died at 1am on the day I was to bring him to the vet. I laid on the floor with Jack for the entire weekend, trying to get him to drink water & pedialyte- hoping to keep him hydrated, to no avail. It turns out that the budget cat food a friend gave me after her cat ran away was the culprit. It was made in China. Never again. I'm religious about reading the packaging so our new kitty doesn't get sick & suffer so needlessly. Some of these companies need to be put out of business. Shame on them...putting dollars before the health of the animals!!

Thank you for producing this video. I’m sure you have saved dogs’ lives by doing so.
Like other people, when I saw that bag of Waggin Train chicken fillets on the shelf in the store I just had to buy it. The chicken looked so healthy and it was chicken breasts, so I knew it had to be healthy for my dog.
My dog loved them. I even cut them up and used them when I was training him.
I started hearing rumblings about the fillets. No problem. I would just get the ones that were not made in China.
I kept hearing the rumblings. I finally decided to make my own fillets. I bought some chicken breasts, thinly sliced them, sprinkled them with seasoned salt, and popped them in the oven on a low temp for a few hours. My dog loved them. And I would make a bunch of fillets, pop most of them in the freezer so I would have them on hand.
I and my dog, were the lucky ones. I would have been devastated if he had died from the ingredients in the store bought fillets.
And like others I have always had a good feeling about companies like Nestle. I don’t know how people who work for these companies who make inferior and potentially hazardous products for animals live with themselves. Thank you too, to the lady who placed the stickers on the bags. Now that is someone who truly loves animals.

Cheryl Lewis Very informative and useful advice concerning pets nutritional needs. Thanks for sharing. We, as a whole, need to be more cautious with such things and pay closer attention to this sort of thing when we shop. Better yet, why not make our own? Many times, my dog eats what I eat. As long as it is not something toxic, she eats it. China and other countries in the Orient simply can not be trusted. A lot of those countries eat dogs over there and cats too.

I agree totally - i equate Nestle to chocolate ... not dog treats and Purina to melamine - they F>>>k’d when they decided to give China cart blanche on their name/food - they have lost my trust ... not that they ever had it

we had a two year old dog die from eating chicken jerky made with chicken breasts from China. we spent $2000 at the Colorado State University veterinary school trying to save her, but her kidneys shut down. We had bought large bags of what we thought was pure meat from Costco, and later returned them and told them what happened. they pulled the chicken jerky off their shelves. we tell every pet owner and store operator what happened, wherever we travel. the Chinese don't like white meat, so they sell it to North America, but with no controls. jerky can be made here, but with using the Chinese chickens. the labels don't tell you that. we stick with Milkbone treats, because every' meat' treat from the pet stores cannot be trust. we use Taste of the Wild for daily food.

The only safe food for your pet is the one you prepare yourself(must be suitable for the species). Milk bones btw contain calcium carbonate. That will cause calcium oxalate stones and require surgical procedure to remove them. Pets fed correctly don't crave or need any treats.

Good choice, but beware that tainted dogfood & catfood are RAMPANT problems in American brands as well. Many contain pentobarbital, a powerful barbiturate that's used to euthanize animals. Those animals end up in dog food & viola! Your dog is eating barbiturates every day. The FDA has done nothing about this issue & would rather waste their time & our taxpayer money protecting Big Pharma & other corporate entities. Gravy Train was one of the worst offenders but no brand is truly safe IMO.

A lot of human foods bought in stores are not good for us and they know it! Now we have to worry about our furry kids getting toxic foods! We should all start our own gardens and help one another. We should make our own pet foods, and stop trusting complete strangers we don't know for our foods! God help us all!!

Purina/Nestle did something like this 11 years ago, where they changed the formula of many of their "zoo" brands (eg. Mazuri) where they stopped adding vitamin D to the formula. They never thought of the animals that were indoor only animals and many died, including race horses, exotic pets, prized waterfowl including my goose. I have boycotted the company since and have made my friends and family aware that they only care about their wallets and not us!

A lot of pets are fed exclusively dog food - which is a highly processed form of food (heated to incredibly high temperatures that destroy all its nutritional properties and then poured into cans or made into kibble). I think this is also an issue as it renders them a lot more vulnerable overall, more prone to reacting to toxins in various treats etc (which are clearly there...). I buy chicken and lightly cook it for my dog, as well as other types of meat. Takes me 5 minutes more than if I opened a can or a bag of dry food, but everyone marvels at how shiny his coat is and how much energy he has for a 10 year old. Historically dogs have eaten food freshly cooked by humans (leftovers). Now they eat crap basically.

My dog passed away last year and I was and still am blaming myself , because I used to buy him treats from Walmart , I.e. Beggin strips, old roy treats, and yes even that jerky that the gentleman described as looking healthy for your dog? My little boy died of Pancreatitis and organ failure. He started having accidents and vomiting ,drinking water a lot and I took him to the Vet everything was fine except his insulin level and they kept him three days and would stay with him after work and call about him . He did well then got sick again and passed. I cried every day and still do? The blame and guilt It's crushing me.. Please , Please , Please be aware what your feeding your pets, because these big companies don't care about your pets either it's all about the Bucks $$$ And China don't even care about Human life? Do you think their going to care about some dog overseas! All these big companies get their food over in China so screw Purina and them all! It's the same food just packaged with their label on it! They don't care! And Bravo to that lady placing warning stickers on those bags!

I feel compelled to add another warning here. My 16 y/o dachshund was suffering from anxiety and could not climb the steps to the couch. I called our vet and asked if he could give us something for him to calm him while we were away at Easter dinner. He called in to our pharmacy gabapentin solution. Only after his continued failing health - diarrhea, throwing up bile, refusal to eat, and eventually panting and dying in my husband's arms did we find out why. As we were seeking answers and searching the net, we found one other incident and the reason was the ingredient XYLITOL which is toxic to dogs. We unknowingly poisoned our dog. Took 3 weeks total. Apparently human pharmacists are unaware of this and even some vets as it is a recently added ingredient. I hope I have helped someone avoid this.
