I've been teaching abstract sculptures with my high school students. We've created figure sculptures with plaster. I do like the color and texture of dried plaster. When the sculptures dry I use milk to seal the plaster. That way, we don't have any plaster dust and the sculpture has a low gloss surface.

Hi, first of all, thank you for sharing your awesome work. I am a senior student major in architecture in South Korea. And I'm working on my graduation project. Since I was suffering how to make physical models in atypical shapes, this video kind of opened the way of my project.Thank you so much!

I have been wanting to dive into plaster sculpture for some time now. This was awesome. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I am looking forward to making something real soon.

    Hi Terry,
thanks for posting these videos. this is really an interesting process that can get you pretty close to a Jean Arp styled sculpture. THanks again!! Shawn

Thank you 😊 In this video, you see me inject ordinary plaster of Paris (available at a craft store) into a very large balloon using a two-litre, plastic pop bottle.
While it's in a liquid state, I distort the plaster-filled balloon. When the plaster hardens, it retains these distortions to make an "automatic sculpture" 😀

    Hi,
May I ask what kind of balloon you are using? Thank you in advance .

Party City sells 24-inch balloons that work very nicely. They are durable and seldom break, as long as you avoid pinching or twisting the latex while it's filled with plaster.
