I just love how they decide to show off their power via a parade including tractors that seem to date back to the 1920s.
Military parades typically combine in ceremony the old and the new. The UK's Trooping of Colors for instance, features troops on horseback even though horses havent been used by their military in nearly a century.

It is such an obvious facade for a crippled country unable to sustain itself
North Korea has been isolated and threatened and blackmailed by the US for 70 years. They are still technically at war, becuase the Truce is armistice, NOT the end of the war. NK wants peace talk with US but US never wanted to deal with NK.
NK is abnormal because they are at war. The most dangerous macho called US that uses atomic bombs and chemical weapons, is threatening them. How can they relax?
US divided Korea in 1945. Korea must reunify, but US never allows. Millions of families got torn apart, and can never see each other. North and south must fight against each other, with fierce and costly arms race.
If you don't understand the situation, think about Vietnam. The situation is similar -- only difference is that Korea is still divided and US is still intervening. US killed 4 million NK people, and 2 million Vietnamese.
If US did wrong with Vietnam, they are doing wrong with Korea, too. Deadly wrong.
