Dave Grohl (drummer) had said he has a hard time listening to this song because he hears Kurt wailing or crying when he says "you know you're right". Definitely makes you rethink the song... Was the last song Kurt recorded
I get it I can no longer listen to sometimes it snows in April
The last song kurt recorded is do re mi
@@cyrosubod2317 No, it's this
@@iaincowell9747 No, this is Nirvana not Kurt. Kurt's last one was Do Re Mi.
@@cyrosubod2317 last written was this song last recorded was do re mi
this song sends chills down my spine knowing it was their last song...
He planned his retirement for years probably when he married Courtney. She's Kurt's business partner
I'm a die hard nirvana fan. This is one of my favourite songs from them. I only discovered nirvana in 2000, Kurt died when I was 7 so I was too young to know of them when he was alive. Greatest band of all time in my opinion.
Every time I listen to this song I tear up, It's too hard to listen to knowing how it all ended.
Woow, that's deep and saf trully!
26 years today.. RIP dear Kurt 😔😢❤
You are blowing up baby and im happy for you.
To me, this is your best video. For someone who really doesn't know a lot about Kurt Cobain, you really analyzed the lyrics and purpose of this song perfectly. This song wasn't released until 8 years after he died because his wife didn't want it out there. Do you blame her? ;)
Yeah, I can actually. She's a narcissistic asshole and always has been.
most of the lyrics are about kurt wanting to leave her so her releasing that would add to the evidence of someone killing kurt but after a long legal battle the song was finally released in 2002
Actually, this song was part of a large collection of unreleased material. It's eventual release got held up due to a legal dispute involving Love. Grohl and Novoselic had wanted the song for a planned box set but Love blocked its release, saying that the song would be "wasted" on a box set, and would be better suited to a single-disc collection. So her grief had nothing to do with blocking the song.
The song was played live once before he died in Chicago and a bootlegger recorded the song and gave it a false name to which sometime later was recorded by Kurt and the rest in one day cuz Kurt was showing up to the recording sessions so it was never released until the nirvana like compilation with other home recorded stuff and rehearsals and stuff like that it’s pretty weird tbh and sucks
I love how you always go in depth about the lyrics! I remember the day Kurt died. I was 14 and he was my hero. I was/am gay and got heavily bullied because of that. It felt like a brother just had passed away when Kurt left the building. Could you please listen to The Cure - Disintegration and Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill next? Keep going!
Man, Kurt was the OG champion of gay (and human in general) rights. I loved that lil bit he included in the album about if you're a homophobe etc... basically fuck you. Dude had guts.
I hope you're of my friend. Love.
You should listen to their Unplugged version of Something in the Way.
Lol ur faxe
Great song. Listened many times. Soothing in a way but sad also.
BBC electric Version... the one he left because they couldn't EVER get it right... He sung that version on the floor of the studio just to get the feeling right... the unplugged can't even begin to touch Kurt's emotion when the eye's of the world were not on him...
@@theduckfromthejoke152 yep was just gonna say.. electric version way better
"Things have never been so swell. I have never failed to fail." 😢🤘
PAAAAAAAIIIIIN
Now imagine listening full blast in the 90's after he passed
Impossible. His wife refused to release this song until 8 years after he died, so in 2004. Wonder why she refused... 🤔 Maybe because it’s about her selfishness

One of my favorite songs he wrote. Classic joint!
My favourite nirvana song 🔥
I FHUCKING LISTEN TO THIS SONG ALL THE TIME AND EVERYDAY AND I ENJOY THAT ... I LOVE THIS SONG
He didn't exactly walked out of rehab. He scaled a wall and escaped. The people at the rehab were stunned when they saw it on the security cameras cause it was a voluntary treatment center where he could have simply walked out if he wanted to leave. Either he was unaware or trying to buy some time but it was noticed immediately
Kurt never wanted to be famous, he just wanted to just be a songwriter. By the time the whole grunge scene became popular, he hated becoming the face of that generation. It's really sad, that if you really look at most of the lyrics for most of the grunge band's hits ( Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots), there is a lot of mention of pain, darkness and loneliness. When most of what became the target audience of teenagers and young adults bought their music and attended their shows, they felt like they could relate to not fitting in with anybody.
He wanted to be famous, don't be silly.
Corona, you really think so? If you think so, you don’t know about Kurt at all. He was not the type of guy who thought “ hey I’m going to write a song that will inspire a new movement in music .” Far from it. He would have preferred being in a punky type garage band in Seattle. The music world needed something new, relatable and catchy, Kurt didn’t come to the record companies, they came to him and Nirvana. He ended up being the right guy at the right time.It could have been someone else.
Disagree. He wanted to be famous but his punk ideology made him hate himself for it. Like most musical geniuses (tupac, John Lennon, etc) he was full of contradictions.
@@matthewdrake4385 he didn't inspire a new moviment, Nirvana just had the most pop sound among the bands from Seattle, that's why they got so big, but there was a scene before Nirvana. Kurt Cobain didn't invent grunge.
Ok maybe he was full of contradictions. But who in this world isn’t. I didn’t claim that Kurt invented the grunge sound. But when anybody mentions that type of music, he is the face that most people associate with. Like I said, he was the right face at the right time with a sound that appealed to a bigger audience. It could have been Vedder, Staley or Cornell who became “ the voice of the grunge generation “. I’m aware that you had other bands who wanted to stay signed to an independent label or didn’t want to leave that scene.
fun fact, Kurt wrote this during sound checks
kj your the one!

@@the_based_and_trad_protestant Yes, but I prefer my interpretation.
Nirvana was so unique.
The day that LA rock station KROQ premiered this in 2002, I had to pull off the freeway during rush hour traffic to process this song. Even now it's hard for me to hear this knowing it's the last song they ever recorded and the last word Kurt left behind for us on wax is a battered uttering of the word "pain".
DUDE!!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Kurt is the only artist who doesn't have any haters
but the only haters he has is himself
Я помню, когда сестра принесла диск Nirvana single. Мне было 13 лет тогда. Сестра намного старше. Сказала - ты подсядешь на nirvana. Прошло больше 20 лет. Я благодарен этой стерве,. Курт как Бог!!!
He recorded this 2 months before he committed suicide. I’m still so sad he died. I tried to see them live New Years 93/94 in Oakland CA, but my parents wouldn’t let me go. I still hate them for it. RIP Kurt, I miss you dearly
More nirvana pls
🔥
Hey, here's a Nirvana song I've never heard. I didn't follow anything else that came out after he died. This is pretty good. Gonna add it to my 90's playlist and get to know it better.
If you don’t have Oh The Guilt, there’s a few b-sides that came out after he died that are really worth it. Old Age. I Hate Myself And Want To Die. Curmudgeon. Sappy. Some of my favorites.
@@RustinChole I love Verse Chorus Verse and here she comes now from the With The Lights Out Boxset
One of my favorite songs of all time, I love seeing people enjoy it for the first time!
This girl nailed what this song is about right off the bat too!
My favorite Nirvana song!!!
If I reacted to this, it would just be me crying. I was 14 when he died, have been listening to Nirvana since 92, I haven't stopped. And I cry cos I know how he feels, and it breaks my heart knowing that CL had him killed.
Frances is a beautiful 28 year old now. She resembles both her parents, but she has her fathers piercing eyes. I wish her every happiness in this life. Between the mental (child of divorce, violent home life) and physical traumas (scoliosis, ulcers) her poor father went through, his death seemed predetermined to many of us who loved Nirvana back in the day. Thank you, dear India for taking us back through these classics. Makes me feel young again.
Congratulations you just discovered one of the best songs ever made
I love watching you react and the emotions that you show and feel that the artists who wrote them were probably feeling them also!!
After daves interview i can never look at this song the same
My favorite Nirvana song.
Haunting song when u listen to the lyrics!!!
I saw Nirvana live in concert in 1993. The In Utero tour. Best concert I have ever been to. Nirvana had that special magic. You just knew you were experiencing something special. I will never forget being there...
Always liked this one since I first heard it. Wicked sounding track. Wish we could’ve got more music from them.
THINGS HAVE NEVER BEEN SO SWELL, I HAVE NEVER FAILED TO FAIL.
Dude you're so awake I love your interpretations. I wonder about your journey and what it took to get you here. Your third eye is open I love hearing your perspectives. Much love.
I was in high school when this cam out... I was late to school to watch this, and then got to go and talk about it with my friends.
I remember when this came out thinking how nice it was to hear new Nirvana stuff. I always wonder what stuff might be unreleased for whatever reasons , whether its demos of unreleased songs etc.
There's nothing else. Nothing people haven't heard.
@@colin72 I always remember rumours of him doing a song with Courtney love and one with Michael Stipe but them never being released because they were too emotional for the 2 of them.
stuart austin There is an album with full of demos and unreleased songs. The album is called "With the Lights Out" At least, I think those are unreleased songs, becuz they weren't on any of their official albums. and "With the Lights Out" was released in 2004, so yeah.
@@colin72 Yes there is. The version of do re mi that he recorded on March 25th, 1994 has never been released
Nirvana. 🤘
Did you notice that in the last few times... he says, “you know your rights” rather than “you know you’re right”?
This song is deep beyond belief. Super painful song.
This is a real example that the world needed to see and hear. Everyone needs to love one another.
Anyhow, I love your review. Keep it up! I’m a subscriber
He doesn't say "rights", he just emphasises the "t" sound but ik what you mean.
Your lyric analysis is absolutely amazing. Great video.
I appreciate your reactions a lot!! They're brightening up my quarantine time :)
Powerful song! One of my favorites.
Thank you for helping me forget about what's going on in the f'd up world, if only for a few minutes!
I was always into Pantera and Megadeth Etc. But I was a huge Nirvana fan when they came out, even though my buddies picked on me LOL. You don't have to be intricate to be an amazing band. These guys wrote very very thought-provoking songs that made you feel, using only 3 chords. That is brilliant. I miss Kurt big time. The sad part of this video? I honestly seen it in your eyes India oh, you can see the man self-destructing well before he did what he did
Kurt's Last Phone Call To His Wife Ended When He Told Her No Matter What I Love You.
There was a great tribute song to Kurt after his death. You should check it out. But there was tragedy around that song too. Half the band members were killed in a crash right before it released, still it was a beautiful tribute. Mighty K.C. by Four Squirrels
Pain. Still brings me to tears.
from Patagonia ! We still loving kurt !
You have amazing intuition
Sometimes you can't get help.
Sometimes, ya, people want to help, but their hands are tied. They can't.
It's ok. If it's meant to be it will happen.
Love and light.
This song has always hit me so deep with my life's journey and everything I've been through. I appreciate the heart felt reaction and deep dive analysis into what these lyrics convey and the emotion in which they are sung with. Kurt's tragedy keeps me in line and reminds me to keep my head up and try to live for more
Wow... your reaction is just like so appropriate... you can just see it hitting you like a sac of bricks despite not knowing much about the situation at first... that was how I think it hit most of us... like ok, Nirvana's last song... what is this, some remix? and then it's like... DAAAAAMN...
She Seems Like A Spiritual Type Of Person So She Knows What Shes Feelin When Listening To This
Man, this song in hindsight is the perfect display of someone dealing with extreme depression. Everything from the lyrics to the way the song goes from hectic almost celebratory, right back to calm, dark, and lonely.
I’m not a massive fan of Nirvana but I have to say I do you like this song
This was one of the last songs Kurt wrote and it always felt different to me.
Love kurt/ nirvana.. miss him ..
Beautiful song all around, emotions on bust when you understand a pain without prejudice of fame and money
Went out with a bang
We miss you Curt!! We know what truly happened, and we will celebrate your life till we die
Thank-you! Forgot how good this one really is. My Gods!
Love your honest reactions to all these classic songs!
The best reaction saludos from Tijuana Mexico
This song was recorded in Brazil, if I remember correctly. The song was released posthumously. I think Courtney (his wife) played a hand in the production of the music video.
I love this song. It's also my mom's favorite. 10/10 song to belt out in the car.
thanx india react this nirvana song, u really know how to push my button in good way. every 20.2 when we have birthday together,i drink i vodka to kurt. thanx and great day there.

DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE
Very intense song , great break down
At this stage in Cobain's life and his state of mind another interpretation can be the she he's referring to is not actually a person but is actually pain personified.
Most emotionally charged songs i´ve ever heard! U can talk about korn etc.... but this song is so beautiful and painful at the same time. Kurt couldnt be saved at certain point. He stepped so called ´´dark world´´ and belive when i say this, it exists!!!
Love your reaction and the Allison in wonderland poster ...
min 4:00 "you know your RIGHTS!" :o
damn, i love your haircolor gradient!
Let's get one thing straight... Kurt did NOT kill himself! The Seattle police chief of that era even admitted that the case was not handled properly. Love had him killed because they were in the process of a divorce. If Cobain had successfully divorced Love, she would have been cut out of royalties from the biggest band of the 90's. That was her motive. She even hired a private detective to look into her "missing husband" to put police off her sent before a body was found. That very same private detective started investigating Love as a murder suspect. Many books have been written about it, including a book by said private detective. Long story short, the police dropped the ball big time! And who knows whom Love might have paid off to keep it that way
true shit, and those that think he did are fucking stupid
@@RevelationNone Those are the same ones that continuously fall for the okie doke and CLEARLY are not able to think outside the box. The way I, personally, look at it is this: Show me clear-cut proof that one is able to hold a shotgun to their head WITHOUT STRUGGLING to hold it and SUCCESSFULLY pull the trigger while doped up on the same shit at the very same level that Kurt was. I, personally, have tried, as a demonstration to myself and others, to hold an empty shotgun to my head WHILE SOBER and was unsuccessful at being able to reach the trigger without struggling to hold it. Also, if one cares to look at the 'suicide note' a lil closer, they can CLEARLY see that the last line is NOT in Kurt's handwriting. I mean, why would a friend of hers lie about the series of events that followed after his death, such as the to-do list found in Courtney's bag after she left it at her house? 🤔 If actual forensics can prove beyond the shadow of a doubt that it truly is possible for someone to successfully put a shotgun to their temple and pull the trigger, then, and ONLY then, will I believe that Kurt Donald Cobain killed himself.
The shotgun was big asf and on his chest it would have went flying after
I appreciate the insights at the end, India. Cheers
You got to get into more Nirvana.
I think I love this channel (no quote)
The early part of the song is clearly about the sense of resolution people experience when they well and truly decide to kill themselves. I think the backdrop of the song is the intervention attempted by Kurt's inner circle, which helped push him over the edge
RIP Kurt
Kurt did not commite suicide. The facts talk by themself..in Soaked in Bleach documentary by Tom Grant.
LOVE Cobain!!!!!
TBH he was confused with his marriage. Do Re Mi song title actually can be read as Dough Ray and Me, the Looney Tunes cartoon.
