L´humilité et la délicatesse de Sokolof sont à savourer et Mozart s´en féliciter !

wonderful rendition of this gorgeous concerto..... he takes his time and lets the music sing........... a powerful technique at the service of the musical line. I can only imagine how Martha would rush through this like she were late for a dinner date. Mind you, I love Martha in much of what she does..........NOT all!

Maybe not too "Mozartean", but there are moments which Sokolov gives a monologue-like intensity as few others have.

I'm absolutely spellbound by the cadenza. If Sokolov composed it, I wish he would devote (more) time to composing.

i believe it is Sokolov compose his own cadenza. This is the most vital Mozart 24.Maria Grinberg is all most as good. The loader this concerto is from Italy. We have Sokolov Chopin 2 and Brahms 2 concertos taped by finnish radio. The Chopin 2 concerto by Sokolov is the best concerto performance of all time. Why finnish people do not load that one in the youtube?

Although neither the sound or the orchestral playing is top notch, this is a fine performance. Still, Mozart is about the only composer where I feel that Sokolov´s playing is not my first choice. I sometimes wonder if there is misunderstanding between Russian pianists and Mozart. I am still waiting for a rendering of Mozart by a Russian pianist where I do not have a reservation or two. To me Sokolov´s playing here is just a little too premeditated. The cadenza is very beautiful though.

I have tremendous respect for Sokolov, but his sound is not exactly Mozartian, at least here

To be fair, it's not Sokolov that's producing an un-Mozartian sound, it's the piano. The treble is harsh and needs to be voiced down a tad. Of course maybe it was prepared according to Sokolov's wishes.

How good it is to find that another listener likes Haskil and Curzon as I do. I urge others to listen to their renderings of Mozart's #24.

Clara Haskil and Curzon Not Great Mozart piano concerto no 24 players! Better ones Mozart piano concerto no 24 players Are really Grigory Sokolov The most vital rhythmic vitalness! Wilhelm Kempff ( The Best piano sound Ever) Vladimir Ashkenazy ( The most colorful volcanic piano sound Ever) Maria Grinberg ( fanatical passion) Mikhail Pletnev The 3th coda!! Pletnev too cool Piano Sound!!
