Purah becoming a sage is interesting, considering she's mastered the technology to keep herself immortal and is already selfless in helping the Royals. She was just sort of hanging out in the final epilogue. No doubt she's gonna take Mineru's Construct back to the lab and investigate it, find the stone and BAM!

@@aaronolson6736 Post-game DLC would make more sense in this game than in BOTW, because this game probably won't get a direct sequel. So they could do post-game DLC to explore events that happen after the game.
My big problem with that idea is I still really, really doubt they do post-game DLC. For one thing, they'd have to solve the problem of monsters with Ganondorf now gone. How would that even work? Ganondorf is gone now so there's no more blood moon and seemingly no more gloom either. Monsters can still exist, undoubtedly, but theoretically they shouldn't be able to endlessly revive anymore.

I'm so sad Purah didn't become a sage. I was fully expecting Mineru to entrust Purah with her stone before she left.
They're all in the sky, Purah hangs behind a bit, knowing this isn't her scene. Mineru announces her departure, but smiles at Purah and floats over to her. She tells Purah to hold out her hands and places her secret stone into them. Purah asks what for, Mineru says "you are more powerful than you give yourself credit for. Take this and realize that for me." And then she leaves, the seven sages officially reformed

It occurs to me that when Zelda was in the past and interacting with Rauru, they both possessed the exact same secret stone at the exact same time, since hers was his until it fell from his arm and she picked it up. It likely has to do with the idea that the game is pretty much non-sequential. You could complete any region in any order, so they might be accounting for that. However, this is Nintendo, who made the physics engines of this and the prequel, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it would be real easy for them to write in a line of code that checks for if the player has completed at least one region prior, and if it detects so, it plays an alternate cutscene which skips the retelling of the story each time.

I think that even the 'ancient past' in totk at the time of rauru and the sages was wayy after any past zelda game and that the Hyrule that Rauru and Sonia form is more like a re-forming of the Hyrule of past games. It would be like when Hyrule was flooded in Wind Waker and had to be rebuilt. That could also explain why Rauru and Sonia chose the name 'Hyrule'. It also means that the Rito and Zora could co-exist as both races evolved over time rather than the totk 'ancient past' being before past games and therefore before the rito wouldve existed

okaaay but like have you realized that the sage helmets/masks are the same as the divine beasts? its a cool detail because if you wear a divine beast helm, the sage of the corresponding element wears their own sage helmet too! the divine beast names were references to the past games, so could the sages be references to the divine beasts and those who piloted them? i noticed that the sages had the same genders as the champions from botw, and their voices almost sounded similar too. (i knwo this has nothing to do w it, but yeah)

  • @hyliadreamer
    @hyliadreamer Před 10 měsíci

If you look at the Zelda Wiki, it states that the name "Imprisoning War" now refers to TWO separate wars. The Imprisoning War of Tears of the Kingdom clearly comes sometime AFTER the Imprisoning War that takes place during the Fallen Hero Timeline.
And, since Breath of the Wild is known to take place at the ends of all three timelines (which it's probably safe to conclude can also be said for Tears), we're dealing with three separate realities which all are occurring. One, in which there were a First and Second Imprisoning War (since it only takes place after Link dies in 'Ocarina', as a last-ditch act of desperation), and two in which there is only Rauru's Imprisoning War (because Link survived to defeat Ganon in 'Ocarina' in the Child and Adult Timelines).
In conclusion: Trying to connect the Tears sages to the Ocarina ones and the Wind Waker ones is much more complex than you're implying. Which isn't to say that you're not already showing that it's complicated; it's simply more so than you think. There's just no reason to assume that the events of 'Ocarina' are the ones that take place ten thousand years prior to 'Breath'/'Tears'; it's neither implied nor clearly stated to be the case at any point. Reading between the lines, in fact, implies otherwise.
I'm sure Aonuma-san would probably be able to set us all straight (including me, because we all make mistakes) on a lot of the points here. And I apologize for the long comment. I just feel very much in love with the lore of this franchise; I'm as hooked on every detail of it as I am on chocolate.

There’s still three sages missing with no representation at all, Forest, Earth and Shadows, maybe we have a quest in the DLC involving the missing sages and choosing a suitable wielder.
    - Purah Sage of Shadows: since she was at the ending scene standing right in the shadows of the pillar, might be a stretch but she could easily be a wielder. Paya could be another suitable Sage since she’s the new leader of the Sheikah.
    - Hestu/Kokiri Sage of Forest: What if somehow Kokiris still exist but they were just really a small group hiding (If Rito and Zora can coexist so can the Koroks and Kokiris) maybe a young Kokiri resembling a Gremlin or Imp, either that or just use Hestu.
    - ??? Sage of Earth: we don’t have any character that could fit this spot, Mogmas have no descendants or evolutionary chain that we know of so maybe they still around the Depths and they were under Zonai command to mine? Maybe that’s why the Miner’s Outfit resembles the Mogmas.
They could also add new sages and give them backstory
    - Sooga: re-introduced the character and give him a completely new story on how it survived all this years, maybe with a secret stone? Maybe acting like some kind of Anti-Hero, besides Ganondorf, Sooga is the only one that is closest to Link in swordsmanship after all.
    - Ancient Robot Warrior: Maybe we don’t have the ancient armor anymore but it’ll be cool to see an android/robot that looks just like the Ancient Armor but is powered by a secret stone, imaging a dungeon full of ancient tech and the ancient robot just waiting at the end to fight you, get defeat and reprogram itself to be your buddy.
    - Satori: We know it’s the reincarnation of a sage, but what sage? And why was able to reincarnated?
Needless to say here’s my take on characters I wish were sages and characters that could be or have the potential to wield a secret stone:
The one who deserved to be sages:
    - Daruk Sage of Fire
    - Mipha Sage of Water
    - Revali Sage of Wind
    - Urbosa Sage of Lighting
    Perfect picks:
    - Mineru Sage of Spirit
    - Sonia / Zelda Sage of Time
    - Rauru King of Light
Characters that could wield a secret stone:
    - Purah Sage of Tech ( Tech-manipulation and clairvoyance )
    - Sooga Wielder of Shadows ( Merges into shadows / stealth )
    - Guardian Warrior protector of the energy secret stone ( Uses the stone to power up its Guardian body )
    - Linkle “Sage” of Axis???
    - Satori Sage of Wild
    - Dark Link wielder of the mirror secret stone
    - Random Bokoblin cuz why not? After all it has an amiibo lol

I think there's a detail being forgotten overall. The sages have always been seven ( with the exception of WW, but maybe you can argue they were just two of a new set), and the elemental powers as well as the race who would inherit them always changed. In OOT there were sages of fire, water, shadow, light, forest, spirit with Zelda as their leader as the sage of time. If you pay attention in TOTK the sages are also seven if you count Rauru as the new sage of light. If we take into consideration that the sages in TOTK are a reference to both Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker with some changes.
In Ocarina of Time, the sages revealed are
    Light
    Fire
    Water
    Forest
    Spirit
    Shadow
    Time
    Wind Waker, we have
    Earth
    Wind
    TOTK introduced a lightning sage.
Most of these return in TOTK, with the exceptions of Forest, Earth, and Shadow.
Now, it could be possible that Ganondorf secret stone symbolizes darkness could be a replacement for Shadow but what if it's not?
If we do get DLC, maybe the possibility of the missing elements could appear in a brand new story mode.
Who could be chosen this my predictions
    Link for Earth.
    Paya for Shadow
    Hestu for Forest
Or it could only be 1 if Darkness is a connection to Shadow instead.
Then what if it's possible that the Forest and Earth will be combined to create Nature.
If we look at the 3 area's Sky, Surface, and Depths we can connect them to the 3 main characters.
    Zelda for Sky.
Seeing How Zelda Stone gives her Light powers fits perfectly with Sky's.
    Link for Surface
Ganondorf for Depths, also just like Zelda the element of Darkness fits perfect for Depths.
Now the real question is what could represent Link and the Surface.
Long story short I think DLC could be a great idea to use the missing sage elements.

  • @Matt620
    @Matt620 Před 10 měsíci

I would 100% play a Forest temple with a Korok and have him as a Sage buddy. Since Hestu serves a gameplay function, Chio (or a new one) would work. Given plants and sunlight, perhaps his spirit power could be a slow regeneration of health (or hearts harmed by gloom). Or he could create a sort of root attack that spawns up from the ground, if it must be an offensive power, something that would be more useful on flyers or Lizalfos style enemies that dodge away.
Purah would also make more an interesting sage, but she doesn't have the power of Spirit like Mineru, able to detach from her body, so she's make a poor Sage of Spirit. She'd need a power that's more suited for her personality. She'd make an interesting Sage of Wisdom.
One interesting power I'd like to see (although it would be hard to implement given the game's plot) would be Zelda as the Sage of Time as a companion. Her power in battle would be freezing an enemy in time for a bit: They'd be impervious to harm, but unable to move.

If we use the logic of the collamity ganon being an exstention of a sealed ganondorf(I have a theary on that also), Its possible Rauru can do the same.
Instead of an evil specuale Bore whos purpose is to forge a new body for Ganondorf or even posses Garudo males born once every 100 years(again I have a theary on that later), Raurus Exstention of him self is the giant Owl Keboragebora who takes a hylian form in the sacred realm.

  • @michaelstipp
    @michaelstipp Před 10 měsíci +1

Honestly, I think you're jumping to conclusions here a bit too much.
If you talk about the Kokiri, you speak about them being "ousted" - but that cannot be the case here. From a lore perspective, it's most likely that Saria was the first and only Kokiri sage in the Chamber of Light, while Fado was chanting for the Master Sword. Wasn't implied somewhere that the Kokiri came to this form and then most likely turned back into their spirit forms - the Koroks - when Link came to the Lost Woods as a baby and after he left following the OoT story?
Also, we don't know about how the game fits into the greater story of the franchise, so talking about replacing the OoT sages and the Triforce with Secret Stones is at the very least a stretch.
And when it comes to the names and identities of the ancient sages: What you said in the video is more conjecture than fact and I kinda doubt the connection to the Divine Beasts will be so obvious...

  • @GeneralOlde
    @GeneralOlde Před 10 měsíci +1

I normally don't watch lore videos (I'm more interested in character/story analysis video essays), but I thought this video had some interesting things to say. I love that you made the connection between Zelda eating Rauru's stone and Ganondorf eating Sonia's stone; it's like the spirits of two royals (one corrupted/stolen) fighting one another through other characters. The way the five sages help you underground, while Zelda (also a sage) helps you in the sky; also, the way both Rauru and Zelda sacrifice themselves for the sake of their respective kingdom, one to seal Ganondorf for as long as possible, the other to restore the Master Sword to ensure Ganondorf's eventual defeat once he reawakens. I know people tend to not give much thought to Zelda plots and stories (especially the latest two), but it makes me think the themes of the game are more tightly conceived than I originally thought.

The changes arent that much of a leap if you think about it. The forest temple in OoT was originally supposed to be the Wind Temple. The kokiri evolved into the koroks in order to gain freedom away from the forest that they didnt previously have. Perhaps this freedom left them to abandon thier previous duties and thus the power of the Forest reverted back to wind and found a renewed strength in a newly evolved, Air based people. Lightning could be countless generations refining Spirit until being able to manifest it and make it material (think force lightning). While shadows were originally considered "by cover of Darkness", they could have played it off as old legends about a persons shadow being the gate to the next life and with the moniker of Spirit up for grabs... its also not too much of a leap that the Zonai protectors would inherit the Zonai's technology and grow themselves as the sheikah. This would leave the color purple still in sheikah hands regardless of what the power is now called.

I don't see why gender matters when it comes to being a sage. Like to be a wind sage you just have to be a Rito. Same goes for zora, we've seen both male and female zora sages. Now that Gannondorf is actually dead if the next male born to the gerudo isn't an incarnation of demises hate then he could be the lightning sage. Being a sage isn't gender exclusive.

You can find a ruin of a guardian on top of Purah's lab in Hateno village. You can read Zelda's diary in Link's house and the well and she'll mention the calamity. You can find memorials in destroyed villages which Zelda ordered to be made to remember those who died during the calamity.
I do dislike that the game never gave us a straight answer but its fun to speculate. Obviously they don't want the risk of calamity Ganon or anything else taking control of the Sheikah tech so they'd have them dismantled or sealed away (the 6 pillars around Hyrule castle were literally a storage device). The shrines and towers can also bury themselves underground and the location of the towers are now holes to the chasm so one could infer that Ganondorf destroyed them and used them as a way to open up the depths. They wouldn't have a need for the tech anymore anyways because the Calamity was finally sealed away or so they believed.
