- Today we meet Kelly who had been considering vandwelling for awhile, but was finally pushed over the edge by a Traumatic Brain Injury that left her no choice but to make the leap and live in a Toyota Sienna minivan. It hasn't always been easy for her, but it has been worthwhile. I'm certain we can all find inspiration and guidance in her life and her minivan build!

she struggle with brain injury , lost her job but yet had a turn around and changed her life for the best , that is just amazing , she did the best with what happened and what she has, when life gives you lemon make lemonade .
Kelly may mention the “ brain damage” from her awful accident, but obviously it did not damage her creativity or her positive approach to life! This video is a gem and so is KELLY! 👍❤️
As someone who has also suffered a traumatic brain injury in the past, what she is doing is actually really good for your brain. Living a simpler, less-complicated life does wonders to heal the brain.
voiceOreezn i too have a tbi..ive been in my van for a few months..last month my oldest son asked me if i was feeling better..i told him i actually do..i do have other health issues that i think have improved as well..but my thinking doesnt seem to be as muddled..i dont feel so overwhelmed as often..i guess i feel more relaxed..
Cheryl Mongold - I actually spoke to a doctor about that. He said that after a tbi, your brain needs "rest" to heal. Going back to regular life doesn't allow for that rest, but getting out in nature, living simply, and slowing down from the rat race does wonders! It also continues to help as time goes on. It does get better!

I recently suffered a car accident and tbi... I stumbled upon this videos and I'm absolutely loving the idea of doing this to my Town and Country... just don't know how I'd make enough money to survive.

You're right Kelly, it's called a bird bath. Sponge bath is the term used when taking a bath in bed. Very smart and resourceful lady, glad she was featured in someone's video. Hope only the best for Kelly.....

I so enjoyed hearing about Kelly and watching her build. I hope to meet her and Bob one of these days soon. I'm watching and hunting for a rig now. I'm only 5'1" so a short area to sleep is perfect for me. I loved when Kelly said she'd grab her Dog if there were a fire, then she'd run back to save her port-a-potty. Kelly you are an inspiration. I have a chronic painful spinal problem that I was told years ago would get worse and it has. I am disabled from it. All I can say is live for today and while you are healthy and pain free. Don't put off t seeing the world. By the time my grandmother got a chance to say go to Italy she was too physically ill to enjoy it. When you are young and or healthy you can physically do a lot more. If you are in college take advantage and perhaps intern in another country. See as much as you can. Believe me if you are physically ill you are not going to want to travel. Don't get a degree until you know what you want to do. Don't get a student loan so large that you will never pay it off. Do what you love. Don't get stuck a cubical unless that is what you love to do. Live in a car or a van and travel the country. Especially those kids who are lucky to have parents with money. Take up rock climbing, skiing , scuba diving. Work and education are important but you have to balance it with experience, fun and life. I think if you are a kid you should learn basics like carpentry. Learn how to put together a computer. learn how to cook. Do gardening. Oh big one is learn how to maintain your vehicle your self. I came from parents who lived in the city. We did not have tools, or a garage and I never learned how to change my own car oil. My father was an alcoholic cab driver who quit high school. He did not have much of a plan for himself and he had no plans for kids. I wish I knew then what I know now. I would have done so many things differently.
Loved this interview with Kelly, Bob. She's remarkable and so very inspirational!! Loved the stealth curtains with the aluminum rod idea. Didn't know about the $2.oo showers in Oregon's State Parks either. I'm an Oregon resident and want to start this process alittle "close to home" so this is great news!! I'll be 67 in a few months, and Kelly truly is an inspiration to me. Kelly, I just subscribed to your channel and look forward to exploring it!! Thank you so much for sharing Kelly!!
