“Perhaps the foremost interpreter of Eastern disciplines for the contemporary West, Alan Watts had the rare gift of ‘writing beautifully the un-writable’. Watts begins with scholarship and intellect and proceeds with art and eloquence to the frontiers of the spirit. A fascinating entry into the deepest ways of knowing.” - Los Angeles Times

Forget yourself and you will get yourself back. Amazing man.
That's not the message. Its get involved with greater things and then you will cultivate a great personality. For example, one can get involved in a sport and go through those processes that lead to success such as discipline persevered, industriousness, and so on and in the end he will become a successful person whom others look up to.
@@lucavelli9723 Self Reliance is my secret to feeling great 😋
@@lucavelli9723 ironically, you're the one who didn't get it.
your interest is still based around developing various superficial aspects of yourself, and you're still obsessed with the idea of "becoming a successful person whom others look up to."
you talked about getting involved in sports as an example, but that sounded like just an excuse to go off about disciplines and industriousness and such, without showing ANY genuine interest in talking about sports.
your philosophy is half-baked. your comprehension needs work. go back and read the original comment again, this time with an open mind. then maybe, just maybe, you'll finally understand what it means.
@@ethanfreeman1106 exactly. As Alan himself said “ the more you give it away the more it comes back”
Noone in the metaphysical world impresses me as much as Alan Watts
It’s a joy listening to him.
I know exactly how you feel ❤

I fall asleep listening to Alan Watts, and I dream so good!
I used to arrive to school really early due to transportation availability and on the radio at 4-5am to 6am for the college was always Alan Watts. He has helped shape my life in ways I didn't think about before and now years later still finding wisdom in his words
I used to think other people would be like Alan watts. No one was.
Alan is a gem
Imagine being in his classroom 🎉🎉 so grateful for these videos and audios .
I love listening to this guy! Such an amazing human. Rip Alan!
I love his voice
Funnily enough, one of the central points in “How to win friends and influence people” is that you must be interested in others in order for them to be interested in you
As usual the majority isn't going that way... Diamonds are rare ❤
Indeed. But that speaks of flattery to win over people. Watts is saying pursue your passions and you will become interesting.
Stumbled across one of his lectures in the library back in 2013. I’ve been listening to him ever since. He was genuinely a real person and didn’t make any qualms about it.
This landed!
He was my very first guru 🙏🏻
Thank you for this just looking at this short brought me to a realization that the root to my anxiety is that I cling to me. But I also realize that trying to do something about that would result to more self destruction so I just watch it, accept it and remain aware and eventually my anxiety will no longer rule me.
Observing will also disolve it but its uncomfortable 😊
To love another as other for that other, will get you true personality.
I got my way. Alan watts listener for years now.
I believe we are allready all we can ever be. And the only real task we have in this life is getting out of our own way to let that 100% shine through without interference of our ego.
Yes, it is just noticing what we already are, rather than becomming something (enlightened etc.).
This is important to know, because most people think, they are seeking something special, that they have never experienced before, but they are already that many times at any day. Its just not recognized and then there comes all that mental noise again. Then it seems, to be not existent at all.
@@maltonic42 well put and so true. It actually reminds me of this thing I read the other day. About a woman who knows she's been true many traumatizing experiences. Yet she doesnt know why she doesnt feel anything about it. So she goes out looking. Looking obsessively for details about what happened to see if she can feel it. Than she has this insight that the fact she doenst feel it, IS the effect of the trauma. And then you realise the trauma has always been embued with yourself. And it becomes so tangible and essential in your experience. Just like the discovery of the true self.
I got to grow up listening to him every Sunday , when tv 📺 & radio 📻 broadcast stations had to have some kind of religious or spiritual service …!
Save Druid Heights
as a cultural heritage site….!!!
Maybe you should just listen to Christ our savior and follow him. Not all religious are wrong, you just assume that if you don't understand it or God.
He is a joy to listen to.🙏
❤ thank you. That was beautiful
Hes my number 1
One of the worst people I’ve ever met told me I needed to read a book called “How to win friends and influence people”.
😆
Same
How about trying both reading the book and doing something interesting. Form your own perspective
The thing is that the book is so good that it's dangerous in the wrong hands

Nefarious Characters, who utterly lack personality and character! If you truly need a tutorial on the subject, you’re in it for the wrong reasons.
Let go of ego. I have to remind myself of that all the time
so cool this man ! started listening to him as a teen in 1970
Persona becomes overloaded after sometimes how beautiful and great it is.
This is real! Alan Watts is the truth!
Such wisdom ..he,s my go to man .💥🙏
I love you Alan❤
❤❤❤❤ I love him
Of all things I'm most grateful for, it's that God gave me the opportunity to complete the great Alan Watt's mission. He always wanted to be able to SEE THE WORLD from outside himself and I'm glad I accomplished that with the Igunnuko Traditional people. ❤
He reminds me of Bowie!
Love him
I actually did though. One of our friends in high school with close to zero social skills had a significant improvement after reading How to Win Friends and Influence People.
It's a good book. But I see this guy's point too.
Now i know where that book title came from lol
so so true
I love the people in my life and hope more them
That's a beautiful sentiment. I wish you the best.
This is interesting
Amazing ❤
"Third Rock From The Sun" sitcom taught me how to be a person
So wisely Said. ❤
❤ this
How on earth have I only just found out about this guy?
It wasn't time yet.
Amazing guys
thank so much
Just amazing! Thank you so much for being in life!
True true

More Alan Watts CZcams😅
My ego is my enemy. I'm not special, I'm not unique and replaceable anywhere.
What is ego
Your ego is also another gift given to you to help you experience life uniquely to you.
I like how Alan watts address this, that ego doesn’t exist, the duality of men is just illusion and the reality is just that you are only a human who do things.
🙏🏽
Beautiful wise mystic closest thing to God fr
Titio Allan passando a visão 🫡 Uncle Allan passing the vision ✨🙏

It fundamentally boils down to a simple concept. People are not interested in you for no reason, they are interested in you because of what you offer them, wether that's business, insight, financial assistance, sex, laughter.. whatever. If you're only interested in yourself then you don't really have anything to offer anyone
Rip 🙏
Exactly. I read that book "How to win friends and influence people." The book teaches you stuff, sure. But you can't just immediately jump from uncharismatic to charismatic from reading it.
100%,but today we got influensers....o my god Alan...
Allan watts is one of those people you use as an example of an old soul
Carnegie catching strays 💥💥
💯
There is no personality. The thing they find interesting is just a pattern of behavior. An object in a constant state of change has no identity until it stops changing.
Amazing! Very profound words
I need to write this down
This is very insightful.
Thanks for the comment.
Do you think that a personality is a particular expression of a general (archetypal) pattern of behavior? It is true that we cycle through identities as we move through the day and through our life, and woe to those who never change.
Sounds profound but not. Those patterns of behavior are called personality. It's like saying there is no such thing as an orange, it is just a series of molecules.
@@craigseganti8999 fair enough, perhaps different descriptions of the same thing. A personality is a classification of that particular pattern of behaviors. It coalesces into that identifiable phenomena.
Did he just smash Dale Carnegie? 😂
That’s what I heard!
Rightfully so
Sounds like. But that book is interesting too. It made a lot of sense to me because my personality was already there so it's not faking it, it just made me understand more about myself. But this Alan guy is interesting too.
Profit off a great mans free knowledge
Alan actually charged for most of his live lectures, all his books, and his audio/video recordings. He never identified as a guru, rather he claimed to be an entertainer.
His son, Mark, travelled with him for many years, recording his talks, editing and packaging them for distribution. Together they set up the Electronic University, now the Alan Watts Org, and Mark continues Alan’s efforts to be a custodian to the integrity of his father’s voice, helping to spread Alan’s potent, yet lighthearted, message for the world to enjoy.
However, all of this energy input by Mark continues to require resources… so we are still offering Alan’s work in fresh formats to the public - in exchange for their support.
We hope you’ll find value, or at least understanding, in this response, and in the restored and remastered audio we’ve been working diligently to provide.
Wow I didn’t know any video of him existed
We have 34 color videos of him on the streaming platform and new app!
I must be interesting, I have so many people gangstalkig me

*sneakily hides "how to win friends and influence people" book
but it's great to let them know where did you pick up you're fruits from ☯️
We really are going backwards 😢....
What if not trying to cultivate a personality is also trying to cultivate a personality? What if part of my personality is trying to cultivate a personality... I'm going to read "How to win friends and win people" and I don't care, if Alan Watts agrees with that or not 😈
damn, I could not recognize him with short hair and without beard
Holy shite
Oh, don't knock. Dale Carnegie
Can anyone please tell me the title of this?

My persona is never free ; but I can be free of my persona
.
Actually yeah you can and I did and people find me much more interesting for it.
I have no personality. I know things, that no one is interested in.
Which is why most corporate management courses are harmful
I wonder whzt happens to him?
😂😂😂😂😂😂TRUE!
I have bad news for you, you are born with your personality already!!!! That is why you will have hell of the time changing it😂
His point still stands. I would say you’re both right 😮
False
He don’t even know man….2024 got nothing but influencers teaching how to have a personality 😂😂 he prolly looking down like smh smoking his pipe 😂
If everyone did this then no one would be interested by anyone. If you think about it there needs to be a uninterested one to be interested in someone interesting. We all need each other in s certain way.
Uh...not sure about this one...Dale Carnegie literally wrote the book on how to win friends and influence people in the 1930s...a lot of self help and human psychology stems from his writing...including being interesting
Dale Carnagie doesn't like this content
lol😂
