  • In this video I show size newborn, small, and medium prefolds in pocket diapers and how they fit.
    1:03 newborn prefolds
    3:04 small prefolds
    8:50 medium prefolds
    I think all 3 of these could be good for stuffing pockets with depending on the rise setting of your child and the absorbency they need.
    I use a Petite Crown pocket and a Mama Koala pocket as an example.

    The most insanely helpful channel by far when it comes to cloth diapering... I'm expecting my first baby in June and I've gone from planning to use disposables as a teenager to thinking "okay I'll use cloth but I HAVE to use all in ones..." and then I decided on pocket diapers only for 'simplicity' about two years ago because the information I found on flats and prefolds was way too confusing at the time. But ever since finding your channel, I plan to use mostly flats, prefolds and the occasional pocket diaper for the grandparents/laundry day/lazy days. Thank you so much for everything you do, it is more appreciated than you know.

    Would you do a similar video but folding flats down to fit in the pocket at different rise settings? You’re the best! Thanks for keeping it real 👌🏼

      Yes, absolutely! I have a few flats that are different sizes. I think it’ll be helpful to see how those fit in pockets as well.
      Don’t hold your breath for a timeline on it 😂🙈 I’ve taken on a lot of videos for the next 5 months but I will add this to my list 💕💕

    Thank you so much for this video. I was wondering how well prefolds fit in one size pocket diapers. This video was just what I needed! After watching it, I really think that customizing the pad fold of a half flat or a flat, (or both for an older child) would be the perfect way to go with pocket diapers. And either flats or prefolds work fine with covers.
    Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

    • @JaysNest

      I definitely love flats in pockets more than prefolds. Flats are way more adjustable when it comes to pockets, so you can get really large flats folded down to fit in the pocket.

    This video has been so helpful for me! We use inserts but i feel they're not working out for us so i started looking at prefolds and was so confused as to what size to get and this answered all my questions! Thank you!

    I'm starting out with cloth diapers and have bought all pocket diapers. I didn't realize though that what I had bought was microfleece or 100% polyester inserts! I had wanted to go with more natural fibers but to buy more inserts that are say cotton or hemp or bamboo is just too much for me right now. Pre-folds seem to be much more affordable right now for me but I didn't know which size to get (didn't know there were different sizes even! @_@). So THANK YOU for your wonderful video. It's exactly what I was searching for to help :)

    Thru experience, i feel that pocket diapers are my favorite. And if I was to recommend a newbie cloth diaper Inquirer. I would recommend to my friends to stick to pocket diapers. Covers takes a bit more skill. All on ones take forever to dry plus u usually have to add a booster anyways. And pocket diapers imo really are best recommendation.

      Hmmm i feel like covers are way easiet because you dont stuff. You just lay the insert. But pockets are definitely easier to spray during the peanut butter poop stage

    With pocket diapers and medium prefolds with a newborn I do a jelly roll and use the pocket diaper like a cover. That holds a nice amount of pee but if you have a super heavy wetter you can add an insert to the pocket diaper. I love this because my LO tends to have explosive poops lol the jelly roll is the best at keeping poop from getting everywhere

  • @pianolady2005
    @pianolady2005 Před 4 lety

    Could newborn prefolds plus boosters be sufficient for a one-size stash? How important is it for the length of the absorbency to go the full length of the diaper?

    • @JaysNest
      @JaysNest  Před 4 lety +1

      Length just depends on what your specific baby needs. A newborn Prefold + booster could work for a light to moderate wetter but wouldn’t be sufficient for a heavy wetter. I think it could work great while your baby is small but I wouldn’t count on it lasting for the entirety of your cloth experience. As children get older they need more absorbency.
      But again, it’ll just depend on your specific child if that combo works. We used that combo for awhile after my baby was out of newborn diapers.
      Some babies need the extra coverage of longer prefolds because of their directional peeing while some children, like mine, will do fine with size small + boosters because we don’t need the length.
      Newborn Prefolds + boosters are worth trying out. I wouldn’t depend on that working forever, but it can work for awhile.

    • @JaysNest
      @JaysNest  Před 4 lety +1

      I personally love flats! However, it’s hard saying if you’ll love flats. I love keeping a mixture of flats, prefolds, and inserts. I use inserts when my flats or prefolds need an extra boost of absorbency!

    Hi ! I need advice ! I love my cloth diapers ! I've been using them now for almost 3 months on my daughter . However she has has 2 yeast infections already with cloth and I have properly bleach washed and soaked the diapers to kill the yeast and obviously treated her as well and used disposables while she healed for 2 weeks . So I feel like shes more prone to get an infection with the cloth . Any advice so I can continue in cloth ! I really cant stand the disposables . :(

    • @JaysNest
      @JaysNest  Před 4 lety

      Oo, infections are hard because it could be a few different things.
      I’m definitely not an expert with yeast rashes. My girls really haven’t had them too much over the years.
      I personally struggle with them though. I get infections VERY easily.
      A lot of yeast infections can actually lead back into the diet.
      What method are you using for the sanitation of the diapers?
      And what’s your wash routine? I wonder if the diapers just aren’t getting clean enough through agitation.
      Have you cleaned your washer? I find that my washer works at its best when i clean it once a month. I just do a hot wash with bleach and wipe down the insides.
      Also, you might just have to change the diapers more frequently. Usually 2-3 hours is a good window to change. Maybe change every 2hrs on the dot to see if that helps. Babies are more prone to infection the longer they sit in diapers.
      And I mean it could be a mixture of a few of these things.
      Yeast rashes are hard 😩 and I wish I had a magical solution for you. A lot of parents in cloth diaper groups are way more well versed with this than I am! I’d Hate to misguide you since I’m not an expert lol.

      @@JaysNest We currently live in an apartment building that has a laundry mat downstairs so we really can't control what goes in-and-out of the washer's and dryers and there's no other laundry mat close by us we also do not drive at the time so there is not many options. I washed my diapers per instructions that I was given off of fluff University from another lady I spoke to and recently I soaked my diapers and everything else that touched my baby in diluted bleach water cold in a bath tub for a couple of hours and then rinse them with really hot water and then threw them in the wash for a hot wash and dry I have not used my diapers since then

      It’s been since 2015 since I’ve used rumparooz pockets. I’ve considered giving them another try. When I had it in my stash it was so small. It would’ve worked great for Scarlett (4th baby) because she was so small. Idk how it’d do for willows body shape though. $10 is a great price to try it out at!
