great video as we have come to expect.....the "ranging " of a animal is especially critical when "longer shots" are involved due to the greater arrow drop....learned that the hard way

I've been practicing all summer long and while my shot placement has been getting better, I have struggled to stay consistent and was not feeling great going into this archery season. But after watching this video I checked my release and found I had it way too far out. I shortened it up and it helped IMMENSELY! My anchor point feels much more stable, I can hold the pin on target much easier and my shots are way more accurate because of it. Thanks for the tips!!!!!!!!!

I've been holding my release hand wrong.
I have been gripping the strap, instead of letting the strap grip me, and not slowly releasing it too. Look forward to having a crack tomorrow now!
@Xavier Shields no, you should use a release, because most bows can't be hand drawn.

Great videos man, I am totally new to archery, I would love to start out with a compound bow and eventually hunt with it. Too bad I live in the Netherlands though where that isn't allowed and/or possible even. Keep it up & stay safe 😎👍
1:59 is how Eric from the Hushin CZcams channel shoots. Always thought it was odd but he hits accurate shots from long distances. One of those things you would never recommend to a new archer but some people find success with. I'd imagine it comes down to consistency, if you can repeat it every time then you can adjust your sight to be accurate that way, within reason of course.

At 2:00 I called that the Cam Hanes release everybody seems to try and emulate.
I’m a bowyer and I shoot primitive equipment. With my shorter bows I would just have a floating anchor point with minimal accuracy. Now that I shoot longer bows I have an anchor point at 28” draw length. I think my biggest problem with accuracy out to 25 yards is when I build arrows I tend to have problems with the spine. I either build them to thick or too thin. I agree though, a good anchor point and a fluid release is important.
Those two yard are negligible is it just short of the given pin on my bow it’s a 2020 PSE Evo nxt33 but only up to 30 yards
I wish you was my bow tech , you have reason you explain things and your all around a good person from the way it seems . Maybe cause it that I'm all tattooed and people don't take me seriously but the local bow tech won't help me for nothing and is always short and won't truly help us newer archers . I am actually a really nice person and just love archery and the tournament shooting holds my main interest. I just wish I could get the help I need as a new archer.

All was useful but my bow says to use 420spline but having problems finding them so have been using 350spline but was looking on CZcams to try to get answers of why my it seems like my whisker biscuit is messing up my fletchings?

Im semi new to archery and i have a regular recurve that fits me well, no fancy releases or anything, but i keep having a problem where my arrows hit the target where im aiming- but at an angle? The arrows seem to sorta stick into the target as if id shot them from somewhere else. How do i make them fly straight?

I have a question that I’ve been wondering since I started shooting a bow. With your release hand, how far back or where should your elbow be in height and angle?
As close to level with the arrow as you can get it. You don't want it at a 45deg angle to the line of the arrow, but somewhere between 0-25deg is what I've found to be optimal. But everyone is different! It comes down to comfort and consistency for you and your bow.

I own a used bow I bought also shooting 3 my buddy owns everything I shoot I hit to the right. We have bottomed out the sight adjustments on every bow I still hit to the right. What could I be doing wrong?

I just bought the Diamond Edge SB-1. If you don't have any shops around, this bow allows you to self-tune as you progress.

Nock height, rest height, the bows ATA length, and peak weight are going to be the main factors that affect point of impact on a bow.

I shoot a 55 pound bow with 26 inch draw length and 28 inch arrows what spine should I be shooting for hunting
Look up spine charts for the arrows you're interested in. Spine can also depend on the fps your bow shoots
Depending on manufacturer, something 500 spine. Also depends on tip weight. Heavier tips weaken dynamic spine, lighter tips the opposite.

I set up bows for customers in large outdoor store and when I am explaining arrow spines, it is not only picking the correct spine for the poundage you are shooting, but it is also a big safety issue. Common spines are 340, 400, 500, etc. A 340 spine is stiffer than a 500. The higher the poundage you are shooting, like 70 lbs on your bow, you should be shooting most likely a 340 Arrow length, cams, etc play a part in the selection. If you shoot a 70 lb bow and shoot a very flexible arrow, say a 500, there is a good chance you will end up with that arrow snapping right after leaving your string, and possibly, ending up stuck in your arm, which could actually be life threatening if it hit an artery, so that is a major safety issue. I am always mindful of that, especially with a new person, since they are new, and know no better. I feel I would not be doing due diligence in my job, and that person, if I did not point this out to them..

Single pin sights for target shooting is great, set it, shoot it. Multipin sights are better for hunting where distances can change in a heartbeat
I need to use a bracer so I don't cock my wrist for fear of string slap , got one bad one , all it took messed me up until I alleviated the fear and voila got my game back lol I don't hit the bracer but I still use it because I know the day I don't I'll flub something and be sore again

Only thing I would add...is most people are over bowed. Sit in a lawn chair,with your hunting gear on,and lower your poundage until you can draw comfortably holding your bow completely level.
You want the best anchor point; swapping around anchor points isn't going to give tight groups, ever...

Japone81 True story, offsetting the letters was an aesthetic preference for me. But also, the offset allows the logo to fill out the. Little avatars for CZcams, FB, Instagram, etc. Allowing them to be identified even in smaller fonts on smartphones and tablets. Maybe I'm full of hot air but there you go! Haha!

another bad habit is shooters don't burn the pin..as soon as you release..your eye and head must NEVER move until you see your arrow hit its target. this is called "peeking".
this will throw the shot off a lot! it takes some time practice. But, you keep watching that arrow through you're peep site and burn the pin. you'll see the arrow hit the target.

Mathieu Danjou AMO standard is a minimum 5grns/lbs of draw weight. This is for personal safety. I've seen guys shooting too light an arrow and blow their bows up
This is just bad advice thru and thru. That is a minimum. It's like saying you can run your car at 6000 rpm. You can but it is hard on the engine. Spouting off like this when the info is just industry hearsay is just annoying. Please use discretion. This is how people end up underspined with a hunk of carbon jammed in to their finger.
That bow is set up at least a half an inch long if not longer. You should try getting your string to cross in front of your nose and the corner of your mouth. It will eliminate the excessive string pressure that your nose is introducing by overdrawing
