Unfortunately, that had not been the case for the past 20 years. The last back to back new winners were in 2002 and 2003 and after that only two new wins in 2011 and 2023. Personally I thought Switzerland should've won in 2006, Kosovo in 2009, Ireland in 2010, Jamaica in 2017, Paraguay in 2021, and Curacao in 2022.

Looks and overall impression still matter. In 1995, India gave the best response in the final questions but I know the judges in the end would choose Chelsi over her and Canada. In 2000, Greece gave the best response but judges still chose Puerto Rico. In 2006, Japan gave the best response to her top 5 question and yet Puerto Rico still took the crown over her.
