    Maybe the tape that you used to hold the battery/drive is the culprit, this kind of tape can conduct eletricity and you applied directly to the logic board

    Cuts off crucial images at the top when you are removing the end caps etc. Why would you not re-record before posting?

    What was the actual solution to getting the flash upgrade to work? It got very confusing there for a bit.

      I had to enter the diagnostic menu on the iPod and select the “clear blocks” setting to get it working, but I’m not sure if that was necessary. I’ve noticed that newer versions of macOS without iTunes can act weird when trying to access/restore iPods. I think it would have worked on the first try if I restored it with an older macOS version or on a Windows machine with iTunes. Still, it’s a drop-in replacement that should work fine on all iPod minis.
