- One of the curious things about contemporary gospel music is that you have never heard multiple Grammy winner Kirk Franklin sing a solo. Dr. Wise gives the obvious reason why in this comical clip! Check it out.
I loved this message. I heard Kirk sing once on an album. It made me sad🙂. I thought "his friends don't love him. Someone should have told him". But I love that dude when he's in his lane. When God pours into him, you can feel it. When he's being the fun, energetic, talented, hype man that goes hard for God, no one does Kirk like Kirk.
In the song "The Gift", Donald Lawrence said YOUR gift looks good on you. We're busy trying to imitate someone else's gift. It won't fit. And we wonder why we don't connect with people. It's because we're out of position. Out of our lane.
Kirk Franklin has sang a solo before.. Not even 1 more than 1...he can definitely hold a note. But great point by the Pastor!!!
I’ve heard him sing several times. Even still, I understand the pastors point.
All due respect, Kirk has been going for a long time, he started as a choir director, musician, producer, kind of a hype man. I remember when he came on the scene, Why we sing, & Bobby Jones. He found talented people (the Manns) and highlighted their talents. On his "losing my religion" he sang Intercession. He always knew solo singing wasn't his strength. Writing gospel hits, was his thing

A. Because Kirk Franklin is not a singer.
He has sang solos a few times on his first album. He did well. On a second album, I could tell his voice was losing its grip. But yeah, his strength is writing and highlighting the choir

How many Grammies did those get?
@@supremeblix I'm sure not many but kingdom work is not measured by how many Grammys a servant is awarded. His song Joy is a very annotated song that he sung, arranged, and directed.
He did a great job co- singing on JOY. I would not go there on making jokes about Kirk's singing ability. God put him where God wanted him to be. ✝️
