- Today on Straight2VOD, I review and give my non spoiler thoughts and try to explain the newest VOD Action-Comedy movie, Jackpot! starring, Awkwafina, John Cena, and Simu Liu.
About The Movie:
Katie, a struggling actress, wins the lottery in California in 2030. The law allows anyone with a losing ticket to murder her before sundown and legally claim her winnings. Noel, an amateur lottery protection agent, helps to keep her alive until sunset in exchange for a share of her winnings.

just because that's Rob Schneider in the 2000s doesn't make it OK to have Awkwafina, is like saying "that seriel killer is bad? oh, you clearly don't know Adolf Hitler"
I saw this film with my brother, mom and dad. The film had action, comedy and adventure in it. My favorite part of the film was when Noel defended Katie at the beginning of the film,after she won the lottery. The life lesson in the film is to trust others in life. I recall from the film, Noel talked to Katie about trust in a relationship in the panic room. It's like "The Purge" like you said, but it's like a parody of "The Purge".

Awkwafina became really annoying just a few minutes into the movie. You knew who the bad guy was the second he came onto screen. Then, the sad backstories of Awkwafina and Cena just did not work in a comedy. The stunt work and fight choreography were first rate, but the movie ran out of steam pretty fast.

I watched The Union on Netflix this weekend as well as this one. As bad as Jackpot is, it’s actually better then The Union 😂

I didn’t know people hated Awkwafina 🤷♂️. I’ve always thought she was alright and pretty funny.

Haha, I warned ya. I wasn't sure about Bad Monkey, but I'll check it out. I need something new to watch 😅
Oh man, Awkafina is no where near as obnoxious as RS. this movie felt like the writer said "hey, I could make the purge funny" and we got the most mediocre movie possible. It was okay for a movie I used to kill time doing laundry. It's too bad I also Blockers this week because Cena can do so much better.
@cmmosher8035 Yeah, Rob Snider was definitely terrible. That was the joke I was trying to convey 😅
Quiz Lady is a great Awkwafina movie. Her character is quiet and antisocial so Awkwafina doesn't do her typical comedy style. Thank goodness.

It wasn't that bad, a fun movie that you can watch once while doing something. But it has an identity crisis - like it couldn't make up if it's a full blown absurdist comedy or a kung-fu movie, or an action-comedy or drama or a social commentary. It also felt like trying to be like Idiocracy in the beginning. It was way too many ideas and the mix didn't work
@dwartbg1 I think i did say that it wasn't the worst thing I've seen this year, lol
it was a painful watch. I turned off my pc after seeing awkwafina cringe unfunny acting.
