Sirens Gone Beserk 2010 Edition 4th Leg

- See 18 Fire rigs running Code three, full lights and sirens, escorted by 4 Ambulances, 5 patrol cars and no less than 12 Police Motorcycles!
The 2010 Peninsula Burn Relay was held in August. Starting at the Moffet Field Fire Station on the NASA Ames Research facility. Fire Departments in the Peninsula area join in as they travel to San Francisco. They stop at Fire stations along the way where the firefighters present the funds they have raised over the last year to the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation.
This is the fourth leg, taken as the rigs head towards Palo Alto Town Hall, having just left Santa Clara County Fire Department's Los Altos Station a few minutes earlier. Escorts are provided by the CHP and various City Police department along the way.
The modern equipment is cool, but the classic stuff - wow!! The vintage patrol cars, ambulances and especially the ladder truck - all 40 years old or older - brought back so many memories!! Thanks for posting!
You know this pretty much a common occurrence in my country, when a litter bin catches fire, they have to rustle up all the fire appliances including the ones from a museum to put it out.

I'd like to think that the world still has these pure moments today, but I know that things like this have probably been lost forever thanks to the new generation (of which I am a part for the record). Honestly breaks my heart to see how separated from each other and the world around us we've all become now :(

You see at the end that even with that many lights and sirens passing you that people STILL refuse to stop and wait.

Hi Xolo. That vehicle belonged to the Peninsula Fire Buffs Club, and they used it to provide Rehab services to Fire Departments in the San Mateo County area. The vehicle originally belonged to Menlo Park Fire, and they donated to the PFB. PFB has since run out of volunteers and disbanded.

This would have been a charity "Burn Run" to collect donations for a burn foundation. Done with the cooperation of the California Highway Patrol. Throughout the year, the fire depts raise money for the foundation and then they get together with in service and retired rigs to do an all day code 3 run to collect the donations. Its an awesome event to participate in.

Firefighters actually hate donuts. I work in EMS. Firefighters and Cops decline donut offers, at least where I live. But an EMT/Paramedic.... we'll eat a while dang box. Well Iive in our rigs. Firefighters have kitchens and cooks, and cops can actually take themselves out of service if it's not an emergency call, to grab a decent meal. Ambulance personnel, we live on vending machines and sugar.

Think he is asking about the old Cadillac ambulance. Years ago Superior and a few other companies converted Cadillacs into "station wagon" ambulances which have been obsolete since the late 1970's or so.
