this si so SO underrated !!! i can't believe I've never heard of this before - this is realy awesome - this song just sounds like everything I feel at the moment!
The punk/garage/ punk tunes of the authentic psychedelic tunes can't be beat. This tune is great far out early psych that has a 1965ish sound. Bet if they played this on the airwaves , the music of the wrap boring hip hop would fall by the wayside.Evan the RnB of the 60s is way better than 2days!
Great to hear from someone who heard us back then - I'm the lead singer - went to law school, practiced law in Chicago for 42 years and now back at it in TheBEAUX.com Hans Stucki
Great playlist, 1966 was the best year for garage bands. Saw the Coba Seas in New York in 1966. Found some of their stuff here on CZcams. I "borrowed" the Gloria one for my channel. I love Garage Bands!!!
1966 was an explosive year for garage rock. I think it continued through the decade and into the early 70"s but by then I think it was being referred to as underground music
@@thomassmith8721 That's it! Yeah! That makes sense . Garage music with the punk/ psychedelia evolved from the garage, though psychedelia was around with the jazz genre of beat that got picked up by garage , and that garage bands incorporated that sound, which influenced the surf rock , and was something new type of sound referred to psychedelia by garage bands by 1964- to 1967-68.
Well as far as the bands that played in that era at the Riviera, the best was Lord Ritchie and the Mariners, the Pinkerton Stripes were pretty good and I think the Chylds may have played there. Strangest show i ever saw there before they closed was the Soft Machine from England. I think by that time the place was called the Pepper Patch.Oh yeah Jimmy and the Soul Blazers played there and a band from Kent Ohio 15-60-75,(The Numbers Band also played in there. The place was called JB'S South then.
The original song was written & recorded by The Turtles probably in 1967 - 1968 but never released until long after the band broke up. Good version here but imo the original had stronger vocals and superior musicianship.
This suits the closing credits of a western, where the protagonist leaves victorious. Either that, or an Ibsen melodrama, where the female lead walks out on her husband. Think Nora walking out on Torvald in A Doll's House, credits roll and this plays on the soundtrack.
The confusion comes because this one is titled - The Angry - Walk in the sun 1966. This is an error by the uploader. In my original comment I said this was probably recorded by the Turtles in 1967 but in fact it was recorded in 1968 as a possible single but never released as one. They put out Sound asleep instead. So this version dates anytime from 1968.
The 60s were the best

For such a hard, edgy style, it's strange that it went away at all, much less lasted such a short time.

The melody sounds a lot like the song 'Depression' by the Specter's.

Definitely recorded in 1966 (as a cover to the Turtles) at the Mills Recording Studio in canton area - the demo got us a Reprise Records deal.
