In this video I pick up a box of various broken Sega consoles for $40 and I do my best to repair them all. So sit back, relax, and enjoy. - Zábava
I remember a few years ago when I bought a 'broken' original DS from Amazon or Ebay (can't remember which one) it only cost £30 which at the time was a bargain - it also came with the box and accessories and it turned out the only problem it had was is that it wasn't charged.
Gave me a good chuckle and a DS :D!
he is the most luckiest man in the world "I don't always buy broken stuff on eBay but when i do it works" stay gaming my friends
That was pretty funny.
haha :D
CZcams presents: Adam Koralik, electric wizard.
that saturn story is amazing. but hey, you got 15 cents back for the game gear
Damn right man. I took a hit on that Game Gear. :P
Something similar to what happened to your Saturn happened to my Dreamcast. One day it stopped displaying things on the TV, I mean it turned on, the disc spinned and everything but, no video. I opened it up clean everything, check cables etc and nothing. So I was almost ready to give up on it and I had the stupid idea of touching most of the contacts on all of the chips of the mother board while the system was on and one of the chips sparked, and that fixed it!!! These Sega console are really tough!!!
I guess I'm one of those few people who enjoys seeing old consoles restored and working. If fact, you're my inspiration to start doing console reviews.
Honored, send me a link when they're up!

Glad I could help.
That Saturn fix reminded me of a similar "accidental" fix on my 86 BMW project car. It was idling like crap and while troubleshooting I caused one of the sensors to arc, and VIOLA! It's run like a champ for the last 2 years. Electronics are 10% science, and 90% magic.
Keep up the good work man I can't get enough of your videos.
It's true, you can't kill a Sega! After watching this, it inspired me to take my Sega CD model 2 out of storage, which I had accidentally dropped out of the back of my car a few months earlier. I had no hopes of it working, given the height it was dropped from. Well, I stripped it, cleaned it and reassembled it. I then plugged in my Mega Drive model 1 and tested it thoroughly and it works like a charm. Quiet as hell too as I re-greased the CD track/cogs! Long live Sega!!!
I had a European Genesis. Mega drive I think it was called here. Was killed by a thrown Lego house by a sibling. :( When we tried to turn it on, we only got a buzz noise from speakers, and no picture on the TV. Took it apart to try to fix a few times but never helped. Not sure where it is now. Probably thrown away in 2004ish.
David Elvin Everything except for the dreamcast lol
In my area, people assume that if a system is older than a PS3/360, its automatically broken and useless. Funny how people's minds work, isn't it?
Yep.
Iv heard America generally has more of throw away culture than Other places so that's maybe the problem, but good for collectors to get things cheap!
Darren Connelly yep, I'm an east coast American, and I can confirm this. I've gotten big stereos, CRT televisions, antique furniture, bicycles, tools, books, movies, games, and even a full sized electric organ from the 70's for free simply for dragging them home from the side of the road! I've even had a bike that I customized with parts from other bikes, rode around town for about two years, and sold for $100, and I never spent a single dime on it, just grabbed it from the trash! Some see our throwaway culture as being very wasteful, but guys like me, who enjoy collecting, tinkering, modifying, and getting stuff for free absolutely love it.
Saturns thirst for the blood of youtubers
duude that Sega Saturn bonded with you,you are now marked as the herald of Sega. You will bring Sega out of the dark ages.

+jinjin45 Thanks.
Original owner used sega CDs as money boxes
This guy probably wanted to get rid of his kids stuff but his kids didn't want him to so he said they were broken

Adam Koralik - Making Older Video Game systems run like a damn champ since 1996! :)
Fair play to you, always nice to see old consoles getting a new home instead of ending up in a landfill because some dimwits think they are broken!
Saving them was my pleasure.
You are the man. I did have a quick ( perhaps odd ) question for you Adam. After watching alot of your videos on opening and saving old consoles. Have you ever got a nasty surprise when you opened an old console to refurbish? Cause my fear would be finding a spider colony living inside lol. I F$#@ing hate spiders.
Found dead cockroaches in an N64 I was paid to clean.
I did a video on it, but I didn't show the roaches. I spared you guys.
Thanks for watching!
I opend a ps1 and saw a dead spider
adam, you are the luckiest person ever! i have been trying to get my hands on a model 2 sega cd and a saturn of any kind for a half decent price and you got 2 sega cds, a saturn, and MUCH more for the price of what i would pay JUST for the saturn. you sir, are AWESOME!!
I've watched this video about 7 times...it never ceases to amaze me.
Wowwww you're the console's god
Thank you sir.

also, thank you for making these Sega videos. Much appreciated for keeping everything alive :)
Amazing find, most people just have no knowledge of any simple fixes or they just didn't hook it up right in the first place. Excellent!
Sorry, I've turned down higher offers. Plus I just don't want to get rid of them. Thanks for watching.
Oh, the nolstega! I remember watching your videos when I was around 7 years old and i can't believe you still make videos! I remember commenting about Windows 98 and you responded!
Welcome back.
Man, glad to see you rescuing all these great systems from people that don't know how to get them working.
Thanks for watching. No, I don't want to sell one, thank you for the offer though.
Admirable quality, good luck to you my friend.

Neat.
I've got three of them. They're all in fairly solid shape.
Yeah, I gave it to a friend of mine. He's good with soldering. It was a gift to him.
Thanks for watching by the way.
I'm pretty confident it works, kind of glad you mentioned that, I'm gonna go crack it open and look at the guts of that master piece.
64 simultaneous colours! WHOOOO :D
i am watching this excited to see whats going to work
yes you're right, I don't blame you it's still an excellent video. I'm always excited to see what you gonna repaired. I greet you from Québec.
Also, this is one you best videos. The fact that you brought that Saturn to life by accident is great.
I shall now call you "Saturnstein"
I don't know a damn thing about video games, but I am enthralled by your videos.
Thank you for watching.
I used to play Saga when I was a Child that’s great Adam found all the Game Consoles working
I'm not disappointed for me, I'm disappointed that these were almost destroyed. It made me think about how many perfectly good units out there no doubt were tossed because of equally small issues.
Thanks for watching man.
badass find, man.
Thanks for watching.
Wow that's lucky, good find man!
Must've been a good day for you, Adam. Able to get almost all of them in working order, nice
Adam Koralik - Making Older Video Game systems run like a damn champ since _______!
You're off to a good start, good luck bud.
Nice find. I've gotten around a dozen "broken" Saturns that actually work or that only needed a simple fix. They are the most durable disc-based consoles I've ever used.
Well, I take it you've never watched any other video I posted. I do use a tripod. In this case, I didn't bother.
I will never get tired of your videos, weather it's a Dreamcast video, or just you messing around with some misc. hardware.
Keep em' coming, brotha man.
Hey btw Adam, I'll bet you want to send your biggest fan in the whole wide world that Genesis. :)
I've gone through the process of getting every Sonic game made for the console, but woe is me, I've no way to play them.
I need this classy goodness in my life. :]
Whats the most efficient way to clean the contacts?
Awesome dude, thank you for watching.
That was a good video. It definitely encourages buyers to take a risk on the "broken" stuff as they could some rather minor problems if any.
Great find, all the systems working. That game gear was in rough shape but you can fix it, just need to start. I improved a lot over some things I made.
Did you know that Sega actually feeds off the life force of gamers? They made a backup that if the hardware wore down too much it'd drain your lifeforce and it'll rejuvenate the components. It was so old that in no longer could drain from the controllers/console. You had to bridge your energy from the inside. Logics and stuff. Sweet. Great to know the little quick fixes that can make old consoles work, great video.
LOL wow the Saturn was like the monster in Frankenstein...you should have shouted "It's alive! ALIVE!!" Awesome find dude love your vids
Ha great score of stuff! Had my fingers crossed on the Sega cds ;-)
@Marko Kalic Thanks, I don't use this camera any more.
where do you find these things?
nickplays631 This was on EBay.
AdamKoralik k thanks
Great deal on all those systems! The Nomad was a steal!
Retro Gameing Guitarist
Thanks!
Thanks for watching bud.
Damn right. I'm glad you fixed yours.
wow thanks man.... that just made me remember my childhood... the sonic 2 game... my favorite megadrive game... (its megadrive over here)
Glad I could help.
Depends on what version of the Saturn we're talking about and where you're located.
But for arguments sake, if you're in the US and want just the consoles, the average is about $40 to $50. They've been going up in the last few years.
pretty cool video I'm into collecting older systems so this was pretty entertaining. I've been trying to get a sega cd but they are pretty pricey lol
Good luck man, I hope you restore them.
Yes nothing better than listening to Adam for 20 minuets
Awesome, I love Canada. I go up there once a year.
Thats awesome man.
Thats awesome, and yeah, they're built really well. Too bad they got such a bad wrap.
its cool, awesome videos by the way,am a huge sega fan myself
I did not, I just felt pain.
Thanks for watching.
What did you accidentally touch that bridged the connection for it to wake up lol? I bought a Saturn recently on eBay, & it would spin the disks, but could not read it. I cleaned the laser, greased the gears, but nothing happened. So I bought a new laser off eBay, & installed it in place of the old, probably broken one. I got better results this time around as It read it & showed the music tracks for a game, but it still won't play the games I put in it. Most of the games I got in the bundle seem pretty scratched, but the one I tested that showed the music track had the least scratches out of all of the games. Is there anything else I'm missing or you could help me with?
Thanks,
PB02 (Alex)
Easy cash on that Nomad. Always nice to see, the SEGA hardware coming back to 'life'
Hey I'm the person who's watching and liking all your videos! I've been a little busy so I only got this far. That Saturn story is the best thing sega related I've ever heard. How! That was awesome! Also where u okay after the shock?
+reviewsRus 2.0 Yeah, I was fine.
"One mans trash is another mans treasure."
Pretty much sums this video up nicely.
Why would you get a composite to S-Video converter?
Wow u really lucky there, really really lucky! I never had any of those console, but now am thinking to get some of those... haha
Awesome! My saturn I just received is having the same exact problem. Maybe this weekend I can open it and try what you did
Good luck!
@AdamKoralik Thanks! I actually looked at it this morning. Found out within 3 minutes what it was. The row of teeth along the laser is half missing! So the gears aren't able to push the laser to the middle to initiate the spin. I tested it though with my screwdriver and push it to the center and it began to spin, the red eye in the laser also turned on. I tested a disc and it recognized it properly. So do you know if it's possible to only replace the plastic bar of teeth or do you need an entirely new laser component? The only other system I've opened before is a dreamcast so I don't do this often. Sounds easy though thanks in advance for your advice!
Derek Newton
Unfortunately that's beyond my skills. :(
AdamKoralik It's no problem! I might purchase a new laser assembly with that particular gear. Either way, your video was tremendously helpful on what to expect to see inside. Awesome channel as well, Super Nintendo yellowing clean up was also excellent. Have to take care of these games we grew up with! Thanks again Adam
Derek Newton
Thanks for watching! Good luck with the Saturn.
