Best video ever. I had several layers, all with several udim texture sets. This helped me figure out how to do all of it! Thank you! If anyone needs help on this when you have more layers, let me know.
udim been there in substance to maya workflow for a while now but there was no great & easy explanation than this to how to easily execute it, thank!
Literally exactly what I needed.. thank you so much awesome video.
I appreciate your teaching in detail. I live in Thailand I find it very difficult to look for a tutorial like this, really thanks.
i love you bro.🙏💖🙇
Dude you have no idea how much you've helped me You're a Godsend
Thank you so much for saying that. I really appreciate it. Do you have any suggestions for other types of videos that may be helpful?
Thank you :)
For anyone using the substance converter plugin, import maps them like normal, go into the shader and change each map from UV to UDIM and generate preview from there. Worked for me.
how to bro can you elaborate
Thank you!! This made it so easy to follow!
Dude, I don't know how to thank you. Every other tutorial I found was of Maya to substance and no one showing how to bring it back to maya. Thank you so much.
Thanks Aadarsh! I'm glad I was able to help you out. Make sure you are subscribed to my channel so you continue to get updates as I'm trying to post weekly. Are there any other topic that you would like to see a video about?
@@davidbittorf I've subscribed. And for topics I can suggest one thing "how to paint skins texture in Zbrush, it is something I still can't do properly and all I do is paint front image using spotlight projection. You can even just show the on the dinosaur which you are using as your DP. It will help A LOT!!!!
Thank you! Super clean presentation. Much appreciated.
Absolutely! Thank you.

All these videos you've uploaded are complete gold for someone like me thanks a lot!
That kind you for the kind words. You will notice if you put your cursor over the time bar on this video it has time tags which help you find exactly what you need within the video. You can also see a list of them in the description. Let me know if you think these will be helpful and if I should add them to all my videos.
@@davidbittorf they're definitely helpful and I did find myself using the chapters. Would be great to incorporate in future videos or if you want to add to the previous ones I'm sure it would be helpful to people!
Thanks for the feedback! I think I’ll do both. I’ll add them to both my future videos and current videos. I think for something like this that is so technical and involved that can be really helpful
Thank you so much! It's so useful for me! Like and subscribe. Regards from Argentina!
Thank you so much! Make sure to take a look at the time codes in the description to find exactly what you need quickly. Enjoy!

@@davidbittorf I have subscribed in the past I think. I will check more videos from You.
Thank you for the videos they're great, curious, why do we set alpha as luminance under color base?
Great question. Actually you might not have to under color. I know for the others it’s necessary for the others such as roughness or it just doesn’t look right. Seems like it may not make a difference for color base.
Hey man this was very veey useful, thank you! I had one doubt retarding the AO.. not being able to find the slot in the attribute editor
Can be tough to have a clean AO from a displacement.
I understood it very well but i have one question in case i am doing a work ok on metalic object or anything shinny but i have udim's like these when i export it from substance and i need to make some changes on the roughness will this effect the whole model?? If yes then how to control it. Please clear my confusion
You won’t be able to change roughness after you export it. You would need to go back into substance, adjust your roughness overall or locally then export again.
Tip for anyone doing this is you want to hide the sky sphere you can set the scale on it to 0,0,0 and keep the light lit.
Thanks for the awesome tip! I love that!
Clean and great ones, but what abt the emessive and height chanel, where can i link them to??? Tks

Can you import ambient occlusion in some way?
You could bring AO and multiply it over your color map in Photoshop prior to bringing it into Maya. It’s a little annoying but gets the job done.
Excuse me sir, are you a doctor? Cause you just saved my life!
Haha. Favorite comment ever.
Dude, where is your dino texturing video?
That’s a great question! I’ll add that to my to do list. I currently don’t have a trex texturing video.
It's not exactly the dino texturing video but I just uploaded my Substance Painter Creature Painting Tutorial. czcams.com/video/y-wVbUHb47c/video.html
how do i do it in blender ?
Hmmm... I'll have to look into that. I know you can, just not sure how at the moment
@@davidbittorf i might have found a solution from
" Right-Brained Tutorials " .. maybe you can make it more simple .

i just tried the way he did , it worked smoothly and explained very well
i accidentally created 15 uv tiles for my sword model 😂
haha. That would be quite the detailed sword!
