if I would want to take the button from a light to a battery but be able to turn it on and off using the switch, how would I add the other wires to make them go to the power source?
No it's a one switch off and on if switch had both same colour wires it would not make a difference. You can ues black to red and red to red inline switch so + goes through switch to led light and - goes to battery. The button in brake light has red and black it's the same produure
