Arab American Studies in the K-12 Classroom: California Educator Institute

This Summer I organized and facilitated the first Arab American Studies in the K-12 Classroom: California Educator Institute. Nearly three dozen mostly California K-12 Educators came together to be in community and learn from some of the leading Arab American Studies scholars and practitioners in the country. They were exposed to foundational and core concepts in Arab American Studies, experienced content demonstrations, and worked in teams with other educators and content experts to develop community and culturally responsive lesson plans they will use in their classrooms this year.
