Here's a fun fact: The dude who sculpted the giant shark? He also did the cabinet and control panel art on the original Mortal Kombat arcade. Even designed the famous dragon logo.

@@chaddumbbrat7174 yup. I worked in the haunted house industry for 15 years. He happened to own a haunted house once upon a time in the Chicago area where I'm from, and so we became acquaintances through mutual friends. He's a cool dude. He's actually at the convention all weekend.

@@joen8529 Ya know, now that you mention it, I'm not entirely sure. I remember him mentioning something about the dragon, but don't recall what it was, so I could be wrong. I know he definitely did the control panel and cabinet art, though, because until recently he still had some of the concept drawings with the original name, Dragon Attack, but he recently donated the originals to some Hall of Fame. I'm not 100% certain but I think he's still selling signed copies.

Imagine someone creating an ultimate dark ride that would last 30-45 minutes and incorporating many of the attractions you see here..the admission would be pricey but well worth it....

A "City of the Damned", with different sections: a factory, a church, science labs, a school, residential apartments, etc. And on the outskirts of the city, you would have farms, a circus, a cemetery, haunted woods....

The fork in the socket is absolutely brilliant and nerve racking. As an animatronics maker I've always wanted to go to this. Some of the most talented (and twisted) minds in the industry! Nice to see Distortions there - loved their "Making Monsters" series a few years back.
I really appreciate the work put into the animatronics and such, a lot of them look so life-like and move so realistically! It’s beautiful in a way. If I went here I’d be feeling a mix of admiration and terror lmao

Never too early to celebrate the Halloween season.
The animatronics are getting so good so fast. Some of them, they way they leaned in looked so much more natural than it has in the past.
I dislike just how many of them relied on compressed air. Especially because when you GO to an actual maze/haunted house experience, you hear it in front of you and always know it's coming. It's also just a kinda cheap scare. I much prefer the creepy imagery, and then actual quiet movement is what scares you, so that it won't spoil it for the people behind you.
They should be way more developed for that price! They’re worse than Chuck e cheese animatronics from 1980s
That's kinda the reason I prefer the smaller animatronics (the kind you can easily place on a table or hang on a wall) and video/projection animatronic. They're not only cheaper, but they are more subtle and have simple mechanics and illusions. I remember buying two small animatronics on sale at Halloween Alley that proved to be quite a hit last Halloween: one was a sign where the letters moved around in a silly way and the other was roses in a skull that wilted and played a minor key bridal march (my personal favourite).

Have you been to The Haunted Lemp Mansion? You can even sleep there. It is crazy at around nine o'clock they close the restaurant and they all just leave and you have the whole mansion to yourself to explore!

Ok I’ve had a picture of that weird looking smiling pumpkin at 30:26 for years now not knowing where the hell it was from and why it existed, and now that I know where it’s from, I need to own it desperately. He’s so precious.
