I really didn't want to sacrafice the level of the processor so I kept looking for a solution. I'm back here as I thought that you would appreciate this other solution. It really worked for me and my was producing some major lag. It was pretty depressing really. So this works perfectly me and I use Windows: By going to the windows button, searching for “services”, then finding the one labeled “Wacom Professional Services” and restarting that service (either via right lick or a link on the left) - that essentially ‘rebooted’ the lagging Wacom driver and was instantly performing well without having to reboot the entire computer.

It's 2022 and I had given up on trying to do anything in Photoshop. Adobe even convinced me to downgrade to an older version or their suggestion was to buy a new Mac. This has helped to the point I can actually use photoshop again! I had bought a new graphics tablet and I put it back into storage because I couldn't use it without getting One frame per second. Now I can start using it again. Thank you ! 😀 👍❤

I was about to make my company buy me a new computer. I could not figure out why the brush was getting so laggy. I had played with the setting and tried everything else that was suggested. This morning it was extra frustrating because I am on a deadline and I did a quick search again nad clicked on this video. I laughed out loud when you suggested that "rulers" was the issue. Then I tried it. I was amazed that it worked! Adobe really needs to find out the reason for this and fix it.

hey guys [ UPDATE ON AUG 25 2018 ] tweaking these settings can decrease your photoshop performance but doesnt help with the lag. It's simple. Just select the brush you use or the brushes you use. > go to the brush setting. > There you would find all the brush settings as shaping dynamics and such things.> find the SMOOTHING option and > just uncheck it. solves the problem right away. if you still need both smoothing and no lag i would suggest to practice more on your digital art without software smoothing.

My problem was indeed with scratch discs. I have three, one very old HDD which I dump things on, primary SSD and external HDD. For some reason Photoshop preferred to use the old and extremely slow disc, making my brush stop working randomly and make the marks appear all at once several seconds later. It was totally destructive to any attempt at sketching... Unticking it in settings fixed it immediately :)

Hi Robert, all these things makes it better but PS since CC really sucks compared to applications like Krita or Clip Studio Paint as far as painting performance is concerned. With each update I hope they will fix or improve it but it seems like they ruined it. I switched to CSP for sketching and also for other features it is more powerfull - PS is good for post rendering.
