The break was the least of his problems, it was the infections that proceeded the break and it took 25 surgeries to make him not get his leg amputated. People like to talk about the infamous photo of the leg break but rarely do people talk about the unsettling image of the referee with a bucket of water... washing the blood off of the field. Also there is one more injury I consider more brutal... Ewald Lienen... thigh...
Those infections almost cost him his leg too. It is such a tragic story, but at least he can still walk and manage teams. You’re the first person to mention Ewald to me! I have to check him out
I think these are some of the worse things ive seen on the pitch are: Fabrice mumaba has a heart attack on the field and actually died on the pitch (it came out good in the end as now every stadaim has a defibrillator now) Eduado de silva for arsenal in the early 2000s, very simliar to the video. Rushed tackle and he snapped his leg in half, i remember as a kid they only showed it once and that was it. There's many more i could say, but these are some of the worse i can think of
I remember watching this when it happened. It was the pics in the newspaper the next day that are burned into the memory!

The still photos of the incident show the nature of the injury more clearly. WARNING: They are not for the squeamish!
I told you this was horrendous a few videos ago 😂
Dude…the after pics are what bothered me the most
Did you find the pic of the actual break when him and Irwin collied
No I couldn’t find a clear one
