I hope you enjoy racing a modified for the first time Landon. I grew up in the Northeast going to Oswego Speedway for the Whelen Tour race there every fall. I promise you, it's going to be an eye opening experience in MANY ways. These guys are GOOD. Don't be surprised if you're fighting for 12th-15th all week long, and do NOT be disappointed with that at all. Finding that last 10% that separates winners from everyone else is TOUGH in these cars, and it's gonna take seat time and patience to find the sweet spot in these cars for you. The equipment you're starting with is a BIG plus in your favor though. Can't wait to see you out there, rubbing nerf bars. Just remember that's not the same thing as rubbing fenders lol.
Oswego Speedway,lived in Oswego ,East 9th st. between Utica and Albany 6 Blocks and the railroad bridge.Worked with Rocky Crucitti Super Modified team for years,then helped Shawn Muldoon on his Limited Super,for a couple years.Shawn is the only Super ,Rookie of the Year,and Super Champion.
@townsend7 Got to go for Spring Sizzler weekend and this year it's April 27 and 28. The Spring Sizzler is the biggest Tour Type Modified race and it may be a bigger race than Loudon

I raced 300hp 4cyl modifieds like this for 15 years. They are so much fun to set up. You can really dial them in and try crazy set ups. My dream was always to get in a V8 version. We only ran 10" tires on 13" wheels, so I imagine the grip is very similar. I raced that car all over Florida. Unfortunately, I never made it to New Smyrna. I hope you do really well with it.
Landon, you been talking to Mike Joy, by the grace of God and 600 hp. Did you mention a while back, coming up to Stanford for the Sizzler? If so keep your eyes open I’d bet Bergeron will be around. You should also give Thompson a try 5/8s, high banks.

ok so im 55 and stasrted watching mods in the late 70"s in nh.my 1st tour driver i started rooting 4 was tommie baldwins dad tiger tom sr. in the 7ny car.coolest moment was when he flew in on a helicopter as they were starting the feature race at thompson.

After a few runs in the mod every thing in the late model & limited cars with seem to happen slower. Hopefully it will help your reaction time & you’ll notice incidents sooner. Have fun and you may want to make sure the air cleaner top is double nutted. You may want to look into a air cleaner top that breathes like a K&N filter, had one on my PASS mod.
Landon, all i can say is there are Squirrely Lil Ba*****s are they not? you gotta be on your game at all times driving them as they are a handful! but they are lot of fun to drive!

Are you running a Gleason rear end? Or a locker ? And did you have the right gear in the car for Caraway or were you running the Newsmyrna speedway gear?

I guess lap times were not good compared to the guys that run the series full time. Because you did not mention at all. Would of been nice to hear lap times for your first time in one.
On the sticker run we went faster than the SMART Tour pole in 2023 (that race was in summer though), and i went fast enough to qualify top 5 in the north south shootout. We are going to be solid don’t you worry

Live 20 to 25 minutes from Stafford and any modified here in Connecticut is badass. There is nothing like mighty modifieds
I'm also just down the road from Stafford. I'm more a dirt sprint car fan but I try to get to Stafford a few times a year.
