I've been thinking about our fortune
And I've decided that we're really not to blame
For the love that's deep inside us now
Is still the same
And the sounds we make together
Is the music to the story in your eyes
It's been shining down upon me now
I realize
Listen to the tide slowly turning
Wash all our heartaches away
We're part of the fire that is burning
And from the ashes we can build another day
But I'm frightened for your children
That the live that we are living is in vain
And the sunshine we've been waiting for
Will turn to rain
Listen to the tide slowly turning
Wash all our heartaches away
We're part of the fire that is burning
And from the ashes we can build another day
But I'm frightened for the children
That the live that we are living is in vain
And the sunshine we've been waiting for
Will turn to rain
When the final line is over
It's certain that the curtain's gonna fall
I can hide inside your sweet sweet love
For ever more
Once you find The Moody's, it changes your life forever. Their music is a big part of the soundtrack of my life.
Im with you👍
Same here!
An all time favorite group of mine. This song is one their best
2023. This song has no era. It is epic.
I was 15 and in trouble with my family and the law...My older brother came home and set me right...this was his music and it became mine...i miss him so much . and i love thies words
may your brother RIP....he sounds like he was a good guy....and he had great taste in music
You ain't lived until you see them in concert....
I don't know why, but this song makes me burst out in tears, but I am happy at the same time -- the cosmic lyrics, images and melodies. How awesome this group is/was.
you are awakening to your true nature...we are made of love...and sometimes the beauty of the moodies music connects you to your higher self...your true self..love/light
well put...
Loved the Moodies since 1969, luv them still. Greatest band ever.
I blasted this in my muscle car in the 1970s.
It is relevant now at my age of 62 having had one NDE.
The greatest rock band EVER!!!!
How wonderful people are all these Moodies lovers!!!
MIKE PINDER MOVES FORWARD AS OF THREE HOURS AGO PER NEWS MEDIA, BUT HIS MUSIC STAYS WITH US ON PLANET EARTH. THANKS MIKE. YOUR LOYAL FANS WILL ALWAYS BE YOUR HALL OF FAME.
Moody Blues will forever be one of the greats of rock n' roll!!
Darryl they FINALLY THEY MADE THERE :) My boycott of the R&R awards show is over. Bunch of asshats !! April 14/2018 . Be there :)
Love the Moody Blue. Best rock and band ever..
When I hear this, I think of gazing into the eyes of Christ. His is the ultimate story of Creation -- of Space and Time. His eyes will tell us great and wondrous things again -- someday soon (I pray and hope).
I can't think of a single memory that the moody blues have not been a part of during my life. I've listened to them from the start. They make magic with their songs.
Yes, yes!
Yes me to ....and still listening 2019 ... fan since 1970 was 10 years young at the time ...
@@Robconnors7253 Me too, exactly! The greatest band ever and just last year made it into RRHOF...pathetic!
This song is a finite capsule definition of how decayed and corrupt our world is now in 2023. Listen to the musicianship, the harmonies, ALL OF IT, and then listen to literally anything current and you can see how far we've fallen.
I thank God that I got to experience this back then.
The Moody Blues are GENIUS.
you got that right.....Mike Pace.
Ellen Felker yep. im afraid true talent like that is gone forever
Saw Moody Blues three times and I'm so Thankful I got to see and hear a legendary band, that spanned over four decades. A truly once in a lifetime band. Hall of Fame !!
Absolutely Great Stuff
The Moody Blues Now and forever....
18 heartless, soulless, fools who hit dislike and wouldn't know good music if the world depended on it. What is there not to like about this song, this is one of the most underrated songs not only of the MB's but in general.
If one thinks for a moment..this could be (I said, "could") the original Power Ballad.
I hate to put that label on it, but it just occurred to me, so I thought, I'd share.
Personally, I think this is one of the best songs (and records - there is a difference) that I have EVER heard!
George D 39 Down Thumbs as Of November 29,2019 how dare they
How about 39 thumbs up! Love the Moody blues a very deep band, besides Justin Hayworth and myself share the same birthday.
This song is the one that stuck, and i know the story. Yes i am frightened for the children. And yes our children's children.
One of the best rock songs that was ever made, period! The video goes good with it.
songs like this aren't made on accident-its incredible God given talent which The Moody Blues possessed!
1971: the perfect three-minute rock love song. Another Justin Hayward gem.
Justin was the Paul McCartny of the Moodies...could compose a masterpiece in a heartbeat...of course the other band members helped!
It's not a love song. Listen to the lyrics. It's about a world that is in trouble and the end is near. Hayward once said that some of their songs were sort of disturbing. He included this one in that category. But that's what he was feeling at the time, that the "curtain is going to fall". The world has only gotten more dysfunctional since that time.
Hey crazy it's me eagle-cain
U fuck pig how the hell are you
@@cosmo1eleven855 True but what a break, up :-)
More than fourty years later this is still my favorite song ever. I have it on the original 45, the original album, and two compilation CDs. I can also play all the parts on the guitar. It is, quite simply the perfect rock record.
GREAT song to play on guitar, isn't it? You want to play ALL the parts at once, which is impossible, but Hayward really makes his 335 sing!
Loved this group since I was 6...they only become more ethereal with time...
GOODDD..He is 1 BEAUTIFUL & Gifted MAN! He GOODDD. He is 1 BEAUTIFUL & Gifted MAN! Rock & Roll Hall of Fame needs to be run properly, not by a few people who decide who gets nominated & voted in. Look into the process on WIKI-I did last week after a DJ said he too couldn't believe they weren't yet inducted. Folks need to know things need to change. I've got to see him this year. They don't make it close to Maine, USA very often (not enough population to draw them). Thanks Fellows Moodies.
Great song from the fall of 1971.
I just woke up 5:19 in the morning and heard this in my head haven't heard it in years since maybe 77 or 79 went to you tube and figured it the moody blues .... And presto!!! Isn't life grand...
Everytime I gaze deeply at a picture of My Darling and Resplendent Wife, I see the story in her eyes -- one of pure light, joy, and boundless love -- HEAVEN (where she is now). Thank you, for posting this superbly-cosmic video! This tune is one of my all-time faves by The Moodys.
One of the best bands EVER!
Fancy meeting you here, Mike! 3 years later..lol
They finally made it to the hall
This just came into my mind again, 1/31/23, 7:25 PM, glad that I could find the song!! 💗💗
Love that Bass line!!
Love this band!
The best MB song of all time and one of the best rock and roll songs that was ever made.
A work of masters!...
saw this band twice when they came to charlotte, they sound great live !
These guys were ahead of their time, very prescient.
these guys are deep...light-hearted + upbeat but....DEEP! They reveal it all ..IF you have the EARS to hear them....They are like beacons of LIGHT in a dark World...Lets all follow the light...we've been lost/fumbling in the DARK for too long...its much easier to see (the truth) when your Lights on!
Separated by sad surcomstance this song is bond we share one of many of our love songs...l love you Joshua A.Richardson!!
My favorite song from one of the best groups of my generation. I can close my eyes and this song takes me back to carefree days hanging out in Tri County Mall north of Cincinnati in the late 60's with my best friend. Thanks for posting this!
when was the last time you saw Tri county Mall,,,,,, Kenwood mall is now Cincinnatis mall
My late husband and I used to hang out there back in the day
The mystical, wonderful, stunning Moody Blues!!!! They are the best band ever!!!! Just beautiful!!!! They sing of love, wonderment, the joy of life.... They helped me through my teenage year's.... Thank You guy's for being here, we love all of your song's!!! 💙💙💙💙...🌹🌹🌹🌹......
Also one of the hottest cuts of all-time!
this guitar work is a master class
Agreed ... I would call it a guitar orgy!
back then you had to be good. no tech to make it right.
Agreed some of the best music ever invented by mankind !!
@@johnbeckley3613 Pinnacle of music 60-70-80's
Leaving original grounds as they are . . . for trthfulness . . . and timelessness.
Justin Hayward is tough to beat for vocals.
The Moody Blues are great!!!!!!!!!!!
An absolute all time favorite of mine!
Excellent work!
So relevant in this COVID time
Your imagination combined with the brilliance of The Moody Blues NEVER ceases to amaze me! Your creative, intelligent streak adds a depth of majestic beauty to their music which wasn't there before. Everyone who knows just how big of a fan I am of The Moody Blues will attest to me saying that what I just stated doesn't come lightly.
"Listen to the tide slowly turning,
wash all our heart aches away.
We’re part of the fire that is burning,
from the ashes we can build another day.
But I’m frightened for your children,
and the life we are living is in vain.
And the sunshine we;ve been waiting for,
will turn to rain."
* For Our Children !
And what, pray tell, is the sound of the tide when it turns?
@@jimuren2388 >>> It's a cryptic way of saying when we pass the rubicon there is no way of returning. This song is about a world that is on a destructive path.
they were a big part growing up there songs are magical.
Awesome song! Back in the early seventies, the best classic rock radio station in the region began...and THIS was the very first song they played! Always great to hear this...just added this to two playlists.
Quite simply, the Moodies best song!!! ..... and one of the best rockers of all-time
Moody blues has always been one of my favorite groups....there music has had an impact on my life. your videos with their music is out standing. keep up the good work. You are very talented. I will be following your work.
This song really defines the essence of just how talented the Moody Blues were! They had several other great ones, but this one always has and always will speak to my soul. Thanks for sharing it and your great video!
Another stellar recording and video. Who can match the greatness of the Moody Blues today? I could listen to this 1,000,000 times and question why I love it so much.
Possibly THE BEST song of ALL the Moodies' work - awesome, amazing -- encapsulates the majesty, power, depth, and integrity one would always expect from the group, especially over the first "magnificent seven" albums.
Thank you..and You are very welcome I always love the Moodies and wanted to see if I can make a video worthy of this awesome song...Thank you for watching and commenting.
What a great time to be alive when this kind of music was finally tapped into.
Awesome!!
Stunning and timeless
The ultimate cosmic philosophers.
had all of their albums, saw them in concert, love this band!
My favorite moody blues song
Love the bass in this song!
A few years ago I was at this establishment that had a jukebox sitting there silent. I couldn't stand the quiet and wanted to liven up the place a little. It was just a hole in the wall but everyone there was real nice. You could you have a drink at the bar and have a snack, or sit at a table to eat, or play a game of pool. It was in a small trailer park in Corn Creek, NV out in the middle of the desert where the people are laid back. Anyway, I was sitting there and decided to play some tunes. I picked songs from the MB's, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin, Don McLean, Steve Miller Band, Gordon Lightfoot, Journey w/Steve Perry, Three Dog Night, Steppenwolf, Grand Funk Railroad, etc....I was running out of bills though. I played the songs I liked and knew were good...just wanted all there to enjoy the music...I got to talking w/the bartender about this and that but mostly I just wanted to create an atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. As the night rolled on the bartender was real cool and gave me a $5 dollar bill and said, "Jane, keep 'em coming!" I was the designated DJ I guess...lol....anyway, off I went to keep playing the hits...good memories of a classic rock mini concert where everyone was mellow and in good spirits. Who doesn't start perking up when they hear that favorite tune....
Good story ( if its true ) but you possibly lost the " establishment " some customers. The reason it was quiet could have been that people wanted to go there for a nice quiet meal/drink not to hear music blaring from a jukebox.
So you wanted them all to enjoy the music, did you ask if anyone minded you putting music on?
And no doubt you played what " you " thought was good music but they may not have agreed.
That's the problem today, people are selfish and do what they want without considering others.
Some of of them might gone home complaining about having their evening spoiled by an infernal racket coming from the jukebox and decided not to go there again..
Clive Bindley Obviously, if she was given money to keep them coming, there wasn't a problem.
Not on that particular night, but when people stopped coming in and takings were down, it then became a problem.
Fabulous. Just fabulous. Well done.
I love this band! Makes me contemplative. Some say theyre depressing, I think not. The moral of the story is to embrace love and compassion for your fellow humans and the universe
GREAT BASS!!!
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame PLEASE
Richie G They deserve their own classification Hall Of Fame, Classical Rock Museum. RRHOF wanted them to donate hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of equipment just to be considered!
Henri Devigne Is this normal procedure for the RRHOF because I see some groups inducted that couln't rub two nickles together! Moody Blues hit after hit truly deserve it.
Unknown to me, but I suspect some sort of left-handed politics are involved. Much of what I know about this was on the video Legend of a Band. (Also my Missus called Swinburne on Tyne at their headquarters around Valentine's Day 2001... the secretary answered ... the Missus said I'm calling from America, Secretary said, Hold on just a moment please... put her on hold for about 10 seconds... HELLO, this is JUSTIN ~ I guess she stuttered for a few seconds and doubted that it was him. He told her he was going to grab his guitar... then sang her Nights in White Satin... she thought I was going to rage for the long distance half-hour call....I was at work at the time... when she told me, I grinned ear to ear. We saw them later by the Mon river in Pittsburgh and we took out two boys with us. Justin saw them in their tropical shirts and it hit me that they looked a lot like young John and Justin.) Anyway, I'm beginning to believe a Hall of Fame should be started for Classical Rock performers and they should be the inaugural group. Hope you enjoyed my recounting of a few things.
Thanks for the story Henri and your theory of left-handed politics are true.
Amen!
I love this group
Great song.
One of my all time favorites songs!
Extraordinary!
Great work here.
beautiful song, great guitar work, especially lead guitar. moody blues with a hard rocking edge.

Their music is so clean its almost holy really
I love this band too
The first LP I bought when l was 17 in 1971
I've become obsessed with this song over the past week since hearing it on the TV series 'Life on Mars'. That and Ashes to Ashes are such fountains of great music of decades past to discover and rediscover.
the guys hit the sweet note and kept going
A Great Video!!..Nice Job!!..Thanks My Friend.WOW
Thank you!
The first Moody Blues song I heard, I was about 12, a turning point in my life that would take me on a musical journey with so many memories and hours of listening pleasure as I discovered each past and new album over the years.
I was so young back then, listening in my room, I thought I was the only one listening to them, I got a big shock when I went to my first Moodies concert and had to share MY band with other people, ah the age of innocence. Keep rocking folks.
Love this song!!!
Just as good now as it was when I bought the album in 1971.
Thanks For Sharing
In my Humble opinion ; the Moody blues are the greatest ever......
Timeless.....
.........A TIMELESS CLASSIC..........!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was the second song they played when I saw them December 1st 1981 Charlotte great show
Just Outrageous! There are very few artist that can make a song that can stand the test of time and pertains too be our very topic today. I guess we really haven't come that far. Great work!!
Dude I LOVED this song when I was growing up and I still do.
Me TOo !!%
Very nice video to one of the Moodies best songs
I used to perform this in college. part of a trilogy.
With love from a 70's moody blues obsessed guy. Oh, yeah.
Once you here moody blues you never forget the melody.
excellent video. these guys have, among others, guided my spirituality since 1969. I still believe in the dream. it will come to pass
This video was pure GENIUS! MOODY BLUES are a really underated group!
