It's amazing that they can move so much in those big costumes.
Those big costumes are probably very lightweight & moveable. Maybe a thin layer of foam over collapsible hoops, or something more lightweight than that.

I liked the Young Anna & Elsa puppets, Elsa & Kristoff's singing, like in "Let It Go" & "Reindeers Are Better Then People" when Sven licked Anna's face, when Kristoff held Anna in his arms into his sleigh & Anna & Kristoff's kiss!!! This musical is kinda mixed of the movie & the show on California Adventure! I just love Frozen!!! But Elsa is my favorite & "Let It Go" is my favorite song! I sing it all the time!
Great way to introduce theater to young children during the midst of the pandemic. They know the story and songs so they won't have to be as focused on story and more so enjoy the live theatrical experience and see how it differs from an animated film.

My high school acting class watched this and everyone except me said that the puppets were creepy. They even said to replace the puppets with child actors or something. First off, I just want to state that I understand that they have an opinion and they aren't educated in puppetry however I was there and they did acknowledge me when I was explaining the art of puppetry. Second, The puppet makers, puppeteers, and everyone behind the scenes have done a great job and deserves the credit for their work. Third, this was on a Cruise Line and I'm sure children would like to play rather than work for multiple hours. Fourth, why is there a stigma against puppetry? It's a beautiful art that's widely misunderstood because of media and society looking at puppets as "creepy" and puppeteers to be "crazy."

The cleverest part of frozen is the integration between the video system and automation. They work by the millimetre and track each other in perfect motion.
Woah, so like, you don't have to do anything with the video system? That's awesome honestly. It's just I've taken a stage management course at college and am really enjoying it, so stuff like this fascinates me!

Obviously I cant give away the specific show details but in general, the show tracks both smpte timecode and manual cues via Photon. It's a very intelligent system but like any system like this, it takes some incredible technicians working backstage to make the show happen. In terms of DCL, this position is called Show Control.

@@THEtomh The Disney Wonder currently has 3 main shows which run during a week of cruise. (Frozen, Dreams & The Golden Mickeys). The Walt Disney Theatre team turns these shows around every night and carry's out their various checks during the actual show days. Not only do they maintain these shows, set, props & equipment but they also facilitate other activities during the cruse such as movies and a youth activities show called 'Friendship Rocks'.
The Wonder theatre tech team is made up of 8 techs and 2 follow spots who are overseen by the 'Senior Technician Walt Disney Theatre'. Additionally there are 2 costume techs overseen by the Senior Tech Costume.
The cast report to the the Stage Manager who calls the show from the back of the house.
Great job. Thank you for showing up here, so we can commend you. I had thought that the puppeteers were speaking.

No, the one who’s controlling the puppet of Olaf
this cast is amazing! but to those asking for their names, Disney has always had a strict rule about character integrity to "keep the magic alive". they have never ever given the real names of character performers, and performers aren't allowed to announce which character they are. so Anna is Anna, Elsa is Elsa! its just always been this way.
But the cast of the broadway musical is listed on google.

The Disney Wonder has 3 lifts. The 'Orch' lift at the front. The 'Main' lift at the back and a 'drop and slide' lift in the middle. This is often referred to as the 'mod & sloat'. All lifts are hydraulic which is why on the classic ships, the main and orch have to rise up above the stage level before dropping back into place. The Fantasy & Dream have chain driven lifts and dont need to do this.

This is fantastic!!! Kristoff even sounds like the one in movie! And Olaf...the puppeteer was so much like Josh Gad by visual, I had to take double look to make sure it's not him. But...Yeah, awesome!!! This and Tangled are so far my favorites. I hope Disney Cruise Line will also do Frozen 2!

Although let it go on broadway is absolutely a spectacle.. I wish the element of using the projector screen that Elsa stands behind in THIS version was carried over to broadway. In the broadway version, some of the magic she does at the beginning of the number tends to look pretty flat to the curtain behind her.

Frozen broadway has an amazing set I don’t know what your on about the set is magical
The Broadway show has to fit within different theaters in the cities they're performing. The cruise stage is likely built just for Frozen and maybe a few other shows.
I think both are quite stunning in their own way. Like many shows on Broadway, Frozen took a more “realistic” route with the costumes and the sets. This show seems to be more accurate to the film which might be why you seem to prefer it. It is simply more familiar and has that cartoony Disney flair. The Broadway show has beautiful sets and costumes that are far more detailed and more attuned to real life.

We are SO lucky to have this grandiose, professionally filmed musical! The cast is amazing. So much dedication and talent. I can't get over how Alison playing Anna is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! And what a genuine, kind smile. My kids won't get enough of the musical, and I confess, me neither. Been singing the songs non stop for more than a week and watching the movie now sounds weird so much I'm used to the cast and these versions 😆 it's like whatever I say is never enough so much it's great. We're very bummed we won't ever see it in the flesh...
Hans here sounds EXACTLY like Santino Fontana (Han's voice actor in the movie) at a lot of points in this performance. That's awesome.

Poor people, my ex used to work for Disney and she told me many times that among the employees the job is commonly described as a "soul crushing, spirit devouring pit where the dreams go to die". Yea, she was using colorful language, but she and her co-workers meant it, very much.She was a sound tech BTW.
