Tong deserve jail time !!! Joe might forgive him but we don't
So far, the best dramas of 2024 is "My Stand In" and "Unknown," but they both have a unique edge....but My Stand in might have a little edge .
I absolutely loved how they handled the two Joes and the body switch. When we see Joe in reflections or through the eyes of others, we see Joe Two, but when we mainly see the Old Joe, it makes sense because Joe would perceive himself in his old body. This approach is much clearer than "Vice Versa," which almost did my head in tryig to keep up with who was in which body..
I also appreciated that the show included the dad's perspective. It’s logical-if my child was so obsessed with Joe 1 that he nearly killed himself, and then turned up with another person named Joe showing the same level of obsession, I would be terrified too. Honestly, I might consider having him ( my child) committed.
People often argue that Tong deserves jail time because he was a menace and a mean person, but I don't see any criminal actions against Joe and Ming. Did he deserve forgiveness? No. But it made sense within the context-Ming's family is very concerned with their reputation. Having Tong killed by loan sharks or their daughter divorced and a single mother would damage their standing, so I understand their decision.
Definitely one of my favourite series. The whole team did a great job but Poom (Joe) shined so brightly. This actor can show his feelings with just his eyes, and that's not something that can easily be succeeded👏

I liked the apology very much, especially the part about forgiving yourself cause that`s the hardest. I was hoping that dad would have done something to cause Joe`s accident - the family ending felt unrealistically happy (and Tong needed punishment). But I was very happy for Ming - I was rooting for him since the 3th-4rd episode when most of the watchers where angry at him. This was a VERY VERY VERY good show! Hope to see them both soon! ❤💯
So now we gotta watch out for sneezes in future BLs now, LOL!
Overall, I enjoyed this series even though we have toxic and stupid people throughout the whole thing, but that's the idea. The actors did amazing and so proud of them 🎉❤❤

I love this series. I was excited and entertained from start to finish. It is top- Tier. It was well written and the acting was excellent.
Finished this today, excellent excellent series. Poom as Joe was stunning, such an expressive face. I loved both ML, the plot was interesting and well executed. One of the best I’ve seen so far in 2024. And the sneezing thing was freaking cute and hilarious. I had to keep replaying those bits just for giggles. ❤😊
BTW ... no one can convince me that Ming didn't trade secretary Jim for his brother's help in getting Joe back. As loving as he is now towards Joe ... he is still Ming and will use whatever leverage he has when it comes to Joe . ( not saying it's a bad thing .. just a Ming thing)

MyStandin is a very good show, with a somewhat boring dare, I say a bit of a lackluster finale (for me) 🤷🏿♀️.

I agree with you but it's just fiction so it was acceptable.
Oh yeah 4 minutes is gonna be bomb. I love series that have an actual plot except of just romance.
@@BookishGoodWitch I get it's fiction but still. Had I seen more of Ming hurting, feeling guilty, being remorseful I'd probably be happy with the ending. The trailer for 4 minutes was so good! I'm thinking it will be a top contender for 2024 for sure. I've already got 3 BL wich are my top for this year.

Tong got off way too easily. This is what really bothers me about most dramas and specifically BL's is that most of the time there are no real consequences for shitty behavior. Tong is a bad guy to his nasty core. And yet all he has to do is say sorry and put Joe's name back in the credits and all is forgiven 🙄🤮
And the stuff with the father was bs. It wasn't about this is what old heads do and it wasn't a test. It was stupid and uncalled for. From what we were shown the person who most likely would have shown up to check up on Ming with Secretary Jim is Mike. For him to pull a gun on the man who just got shot protecting his son and threaten to make him disappear was dissgusting. And all to illicit a promise of Joe not disappearing from Ming's life....really? But once again this is another person who has behaved badly receiving no consequences for his actions and yet easily forgiven for the damaged they have caused. Joe literally nearly died (a second time) and the father needs a promise? Really?
And can all thise people who were taking a piss on Sol because of the book stop it when it comes to series Sol. Because all series Sol has done is put Joe first and want him to be happy even if it's with Ming. It was never about Sol wanting to make decisions for Joe, but about not wanting to see his friend and someone he loves getting hurt again. Because last time Joe not only got hurt but died behind this mess.
Joe's mother is the only one of the parents who has recieved consequences for her non acceptance of her son. In that her true son is dead. Her actions led him to a horrible act of desperation. But because she was willing to change she was granted a second chance at proving she had become a better person. She is the only one of the parent's that I don't dislike. She is the only one of the parents who had to live for 3 years with the consequences of her actions. Even though she is blissfully unaware of the entire depth of her actions.
The reason that Ming's apology hits so hard is because before he says it. He has already shown Joe how sorry he is. He's already done (repeatedly) the only thing Joe ever wanted from him which is put him first. Ming had already been willing to leave his family and give up his money for Joe and then trade himself for Joe during the kidnapping. So when he tearfully fully verbally says it Joe knows these are not just words. Joe knows he comes first in Ming's life. Which is all he ever wanted.

i agree with the comment about dying twice to find true love.. but for me, this was one of the worst of 2024. i do see how Ming changed (after we spend so many episodes on him being toxic) but other than that, the plot felt a bit flat.. i was hoping there'd be a conspiracy behind Joe doing that sketchy movie on the side but the people got away with it.
